My anti-virus detects jdeveloper.exe as a Trojan

Hello there
I am using free Avira-Antivir and now i just cant use my jdeveloper Studio because on every try to launch it the anti virus alerts me and shows that jdeveloper.exe is a Trojan (Virus: TR/Dropper.Gen ) I had jdev10133, i removed it and after i downloaded jdev10134 and the same result. How do i fix the problem, is my computer infected or should i remove the antivirus?
Thx

I downloaded oracle data modeller (datamodeling-1.5.1-525-no-jre.zip) today and made a virus scan on the file and yes there is TR/Dropper.Gen virus inside.
Of course i think its false alarm but its still there.
Here you can go on oracle page and download it http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/Modeling.html
My virus tool is avira antivir premium.

    Hi
The antivirus scanner has detected this file which is classified as Malware-risk high.
Either you would delete this file or would add it to the quarantine.
But these options are provided by Antivirus as well

  • Sophus anti virus detected troj/upatre-jl and cleanup failed.  how to manually remove?

My Sophus Anti Virus detected "troj-upatre-jl" and the cleanup failed from quarantine manager.
It says manual cleanup is required and I have absolutely no idea how to do that.  Need help!

Either it detected nothing at all, or it detected Windows malware in an email attachment. The malware will have no effect as long as you don't pass it on to anyone else or run it yourself in Windows.
Remove the useless, time-wasting Sophos product by following the instructions on this page, and also this one, if applicable. If you have a different version, the procedure may be different.
Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Anti virus - detect and delete - in Snow leopard

    Hello
They say Snow Leopard has excellent built in anti-virus software, but I'm not sure. I just taken a job to the printer and his PC virus detection said I had serious virus problems on my Mac.
This seems likely, and could explain the problems I've been having with OS applications like Fontbook - it's so slow it's useless. And Adobe CS3 is also playing up, I have to force quit programs, they work OK for a while, then the most basic elements of the application fail (like quiting, and cropping in Photoshop).
I have spoken to Adobe (useless) and I have reinstalled the OS, and CS3.
How can I check and eliminate a worm or virus from my HD and external backup HD.
I'd be very grateful for any help.
    John

I'm with you there. I had been running OS 10.4.11 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Now I have Snow Leopard and CS3. And, the ONLY reason I upgraded to Snow Leopard was to use the iLife suite, which has some software I need. Now there are problems all over the place. I can't use some of the CS3 plugins that I paid good money for, CS3 has a strange artifact that shows up every time it opens (fortunately the artifact doesn't print), video downloads through Firefox, Chrome or Safari have numerous cache issues, startup is slow, some apps crash randomly, and Word doesn't function properly (don't chastise me on using Word. I have to use it.) I've even installed the proper updates and reinstalled CS3 (like you, I can't afford CS5 yet -- starving artist, you know.)
I am VERY disappointed in Snow Leopard (not to mention Apple support). Macs used to be the machine to beat when it came to bugs and crashes. Now a Mac is just like any PC -- you never know what's going to happen.

  • AVG Anti-Virus detects that "iPodService.exe" is a trojan.

Detection Name: Trojan Horse IRC/Back Door.SdBot4.ADKD
    Description: C:/Program Files/iPod/bin.iPodSerive.exe [5540]

    Misc9700,
That is the same question posted on AVG's Forum by me,trying to receive answer.  If you will to the actual post, you will see that I have spent an entire day trying to make sure that I have gotten rid of it.  Not sure.  So, unless I get an answer by early tomorrow, I will be paying my computer guy to come check it out!  Hopeful, an answer will be found to save me the expense & him the trouble.
Just wanted to make sure you realized that the Trojan horse was NOT removed completely.
Apple, any help here will be greatly appreciated.  It seems that ONLY AVG is having this trouble of finding this particular Trojan horse.  Ideas?

  • Should I use an anti-virus on my MacBook? If so, which one?  Thanks.

    Anybody there?

    Yes, we're here!
Before you decide to install any AV software on your computer, you should do a little reading first and then decide on what you may (and may not) want to use.
Take a visit to Thomas Reed's "The Safe Mac" website and read his Mac Malware Guide. Then take a look at his anti-virus detection guides, part one and part two.
Only you can be certain if you need malware/virus software. If you tend to be wise about what you download, what to look for in possibly infected emails, etc., then it's unlikely that you need anything. If you tend to 'compute precariously then you may need AV software.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

I use MacKeeper on my MacBook Pro
Ack! Get rid of that immediately! MacKeeper's bad news. Plus, it does a really awful job of actually detecting malware. See:
    Beware MacKeeper
    Mac anti-virus detection rates
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
My active accounts are clean, but the On My Mac gmail keeps and continues to repopulate all email, even after I trash them.
If you're seeing messages remaining in GMail's All Mail folder after deleting them, that's normal. GMail keeps all messages in there, even after deletion, unless you manually delete stuff using GMail's web interface. See Hiding GMail’s “All Mail” from Apple Mail.
If you're actually having trouble deleting e-mail from an On My Mac mailbox, there's probably something wrong with your mailboxes.

  • Do you need to add an anti virus on mac pros

I purchased a mac pro for my son and was sold an anti virus to install. Do i really need to install this? I would rather not. Thanks

You can get by just fine without anti-virus at this time, though you should be aware of dangers and be cautious online. See my Mac Malware Guide.
Note that, even if you do decide to use anti-virus software, you shouldn't pay for anything. The best options are free. So return whatever software you were convinced to buy. Also, although ClamXav has been a popular recommendation on these forums, recent testing I did shows that it doesn't do such a great job. See Mac anti-virus detection rates.

  • Jdeveloper.exe virus TR/refroso.bhoq ?

I am running JDeveloper on Windows XP and Windows 7.
Recently my Avira anti-virus software reported jdeveloper.exe having the virus: TR/refroso.bhoq
On XP I was running a version of JDeveloper I had installed a year ago: 11.1.1.1. I accepted Avira's pronoucement
and it deleted jdeveloper.exe! Because I am setting up a new machine (Windows 7) I downloaded the latest 11.1.1.3
from this site (today). On install Avira pronounced the same virus. This time I told it to ignore it.
Does anyone know why it would do this as I can find no information on the virus or why jeveloper.exe might be reporting
such a problem which appears to be an incorrect reporting of a non-existent virus.
    regards
    Simon

I registered the problem with Avira. Had an answer within 2 hours. Fantastic response.
Here is what they said (summary: it is a false positive that will be fixed in the next release):
A listing of files alongside their results can be found below:
File ID  Filename       Size (Byte) Result
    25803142 jdeveloper.exe 44 KB       FALSE POSITIVE
Please find a detailed report concerning each individual sample below:
    Filename       Result
    jdeveloper.exe FALSE POSITIVE
The file 'jdeveloper.exe' has been determined to be 'FALSE POSITIVE'. In particular this means that this file is not malicious but a false alarm. Detection is removed from our virus definition file (VDF) with the version: 7.10.9.90.regards

  • Anyone else gotten an anti-virus warning that Adobe file "Droplet Template.exe" is a Trojan?

Got this warning for the first time today -- my anti-virus prevented "droplet template.exe" from opening because it is seen as a Trojan.

This is from Vipre Threat Track after having received my file droplet template.exe for inspection:
We have received and tested the sent file 'Droplet_Template.exe' but it was not detected as a threat by Vipre. Please update Vipre to definitions 30465 or higher to verify on your end.
Let us know of the results. Thanks and have a great day ahead.
I had Vipre scan the file after I applied the latest updates and it was not seen as a risk. I have Vipre set to check for updates every 30 minutes, so not sure how they got outdated. They are now 30474.

  • Firefox4 Updater.exe is being flagged by Norton Anti-Virus 2010 as containg a virus is is removed

When trying to update Firefox 3.1.16 to Firefox 4, Norton Internet Security says that Updater.exe contains a virus. Norton then removes the program and the update fails. What is going on?

Somehow it got marked by Norton. I can't imagine that Firefox contains a virus, anti-virus-tools are a bit strange from time to time. Update your Norton register tomorrow and reinstall or deactivate it for installation.

  • Anyone benefiting from anti-spyware or virus detection?

Anyone with experience or opinions on anti-spyware/virus detection software for our Macs?
I'd like to know if anyone has one worth while to recommend.
Concerned with more and more apps., and blogging sites and websites visited.
    Thanks....

    Adding my two cents worth:
At this time there have been no confirmed Mac OS X viruses (subject to the semantic debate about whether the iChat exploit from a couple of years ago is properly classified as a virus or a trojan horse and not counting the Word macro virus that can affect Office v.X or non-updated copies of Office 2004), very few trojans and no adware or spyware. I therefore do not feel that antivirus or antispyware software is necessary at this time as long as users are careful about what they download from the Internet or accept as attachments via email.
It's never wise to become complacent, though, so security precautions are not wasted. Such security precautions mostly are common sense: don't download and run files from sites you don't know, don't double-click on attachments in emails you aren't expecting and/or from people you don't know, and make sure you password your system and keep that password secure, In addition, don't leave your your system available in a public place and unattended where someone unauthorized could use it and potentially install malware (such a policy is also a precaution against theft).
It is possible for a Mac user to inadvertently forward a Windows virus to a PC user though you'd have to do it manually so the above precautions would probably prevent such virus-spreading, and said Windows virus cannot infect the Mac.
If you do decide you wish to run antivirus software, I think that the donationware clamXav should be more than enough provided you remember to scan your system from time to time. iAntivirus has also been recommended by others, though I have no personal experience with it.
If you are running Windows on your system, either via BootCamp, Parallels Workstation or another solution, then that copy of Windows is subject to all the myriad exploits common to the Windows world, so you need to take full precautions, including running both antivirus and antispyware software.
    Regards.

  • Does my iMac need an anti-virus or malware detection app to remain secure?

Does my iMac need an anti-virus or malware detection app to remain secure?

The best defense for keeping your Mac secure is YOU.  Honestly, I will not tell you to not get software but YOU are the best way to stay safe. I myself have never used any software on my personal computers personally.
    rules to remember:
    Don't:
Open any e-mails from an unknown sender
Open any e-mails that have attachments unless that person is in your contacts...BUT, this one can be tricky as well.  If one of your contacts gets infected, their computer could send an email (with an attachment) to everyone in their contact list.  This is a trick to get you to open the attachment because you know the sender.  So always check for really generic subject lines that sound fake, call them if you are not sure.
Click on any of those intrusive ads on websites.
Careful downloading software from the Internet that you are not sure about.  Always do your research.
if you do decide to get software, I can safely say DO NOT GET MACKEEPER.  STAY AWAY.  I have heard only horror stories about this software.
Keep your Network safe, make sure if youuse an open WiFi connection to LOCK it.

  • How to detect which Anti Virus is installed?

I want to know how can I detect which anti virus is installed on the system using C#?
    Jassim Rahma

You can use WMI to query this information.  The code to do so would work like this:
    ManagementObjectSearcher searcher = new ManagementObjectSearcher(@"root\SecurityCenter2", "SELECT * FROM AntiVirusProduct");
    ManagementObjectCollection result = searcher.Get();
    if (result.Count > 0)
        foreach (ManagementObject item in result)
            Console.WriteLine("Your computer is protected by: {0}", item["displayName"]);
    else
        Console.WriteLine("Your computer is not protected!");
Note that the location on that first line might be "root\SecurityCenter" on some systems.  It might be best to run this portion of code for both "root\SecurityCenter" and "root\SecurityCenter2".

  • Can't access safe mode to delete System Security fake anti virus virus. HELP.

Hi, our SL500 has become infected with "System Security" fake anti virus software. We have tracked down how to remove it.
    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/system-security-malware-t222291.html

We have tried F8...........Repeatedly . And also  Run->msconfig->BOOT.INI->/SAFEBOOT . But to no avail . Actually we get a pop up stating that Windows  can not find said command and have we typed it in correctly . Please could some one help us as this is driving us insane . One last thing . A computer WITHOUT a "safe mode " option, isn't that kinda of unsafe and a tad.....
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for trying to help. Sadly, I followed the instructions and it rebooted to the blue screen again.
It's going to have to go to Apple for repairs now. I'm out of options.
I am wondering how much easier it would have been if I'd created a time machine restore point. I got what I deserved for failing to do that, but I'm doubtful even that would have worked in this case. It does seem to be because of that piece of widely reported malware that didn't want to leave without causing damage.
The most frustrating aspect is the safe boot. I get to the desktop but without any menu, finder or dock. It seems to be similar to the problem below...
    http://www.macsmarts.com/?p=109
But that's for Tiger. I tried that to no effect.
Like I said, it's going to have to go to Apple now because I've done so many things I don't know if I'm just digging myself a deeper hole.
    Thanks again for offering help.
