  • Why won't my macbook air boot up after mountain lion update?

I updated to mountain lion yesterday.  computer acted funny at the end of the night, so i shut the lid.  today, i opened the lid and it didn't turn right on.  so i powered up.  got about halfway into booting, and shut off.  now it won't start up at all.  any help would be awesome!  1,000 karma points to anyone who know what to do, since it won't boot up at all anymore.

it seems to be a power/battery issue.  unplugged, it won't boot up at all.  plugged in, it boots.  as soon as i unplug, macbook air turns off.  hope this helps you problem solving gurus out there.

  • Mac won't start automatically after Mountain Lion update

Today I found the latest Mountain Lion update in the App Store and I started the installation. It seemed to be working fine so I left the room for a while to do something else while it was installing. However, when I got back, Mountain Lion hadn't started by itself, and I was left with nothing but the "grey background" (if you know what I mean) that shows up during the installation.
Nothing happened so after a while I had not choice but to reboot the Mac myself by holding in the on/off button at the back. I'm not an experienced Mac user so I'm a bit worried. Does this happen often and does it mean something could be wrong with my iMac?
After the reboot I entered the App Store again to see if the update was still there, but it wasn't, so I guess the installation itself went well. I just got a bit worried that something's wrong with my iMac. I just bought it.
    Thanks for your help!

Ah ok, I'm relieved to hear that. So others have had the same issue with this update too? Thanks!

  • Open Recent function won't work after Mountain Lion updates

I recently did a fresh install of mountain lion (after using snow leopard for years). iWork, which came with my MacBook Pro worked great, until the update. Obviously I had to do a fresh install of iWork 09 from the CD I had. I then updated iWork through the software update. Now running pages 4.3 etc.
However, for pages and numbers I can't get the Open Recent function to work. It's just empty, no matter how many docs I've opened or worked on.
    Any tips??
Thanks in advance for any assitance.

Menu > Pages > Preferences > General Preferences > For New Documents: check Show Template Chooser
When you now open Pages it will show you an open dialog with the option to look for those files either in your iCloud folder or on the regualr place on your Mac.
Personally I prefer the File Menu > Recent.

  • Aperture doesn't start after Mountain Lion update

    Hi,
I've been using Aperture 3 for a while without problems. It's the version that came out last before Aperture went into the app store (and the price was reduced). All updates have been installed since then without any problems. Today I got my new MacBook Pro Retina and transfered all programs from my old 2010 MacBook. I also upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8).
Since than, I can not open Aperture anymore. I am even unable to reinstalled it from DVD after deletion.
    Any ideas?
    Thx in advance,
    Rasabo

I am even unable to reinstalled it from DVD after deletion.
I just reinstalled from the DVD. What is the error message that you get when you try?
    Two things:
The installer on the DVD may give a warning that it needs to relaunch. Allow this by pressing "o.k."
Or you may get the message: "check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of Mac OS X". This may be caused by an expired developer certificate. In this case, reset the Date in the system preferences to the first of February, before you run the installer.
Later you can set it back.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Aperture 3.2.2 not updaing after Mountain Lion update

I recently purchased Mountain Lion to upgrade my iMac's OS from Snow Leppard.  After the upgrade, I found that when I selected "Software Updates" from the Apple Menu, the App Store now automatically launces/starts and takes me to the App Updates List.  I select to update all, and the only App which seems to fail to perform it's upgrade is, Aperture.  I currently have Aperture version 3.2.2, but the App store refuses to update the software to the latest update suggesting that I already have this purchase on my computer.  This while true, is stopping the computer from updating to the newest version of Aperture which is 3.3.2.  I have tried restarting the iMac, tried opening Aperture and requesting the update from within the program, but nothing works.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a way to get the software update without having to delete the program and reinstalling it?

    Hi,
The two may be linked as there is a common support app called IMAgent that helps with both Messages and FaceTime.
    Shut down both apps.
With the Finder as the Front App > use the Go Menu > Hold down ALT key and select Library.
In the Library find and open th Preferences Folder
Find com.apple.IMAgent.plist and drag it to the Trash
Before restarting the App now go to Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities.
Find imagent (it  is in lower case).
Highlight and use the Quit button.
    Now restart the app(s).
This will recreate the .plist  from defaults.

  • Speakers no longer work after Mountain Lion update.

After my update of Mountain Lion my speakers in my macbook pro no longer work.  The speaker symbol is grey and the volume can't be moved.  Anyone else have this issue?

Seems there is no real solution to this problem. If you have a time machine backup you can go back to 10.7.2.
Since I did the clean install of 10.7.2, I don't have any audio problems. My MacBook Pro now runs smoothly. I guess I stick with 10.7.2 until 10.7.4 is released.
You can also try some of these suggstions: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3705456?start=15&tstart=0
Hope you get your audio working.

  • Why do gestures stop working after Mountain Lion update?

I've just installed Mountain Lion on my MBP, and soon after a reboot, gestures stop working.
Rebooting fixes this, at least temporarily. But soon afterwards I can't switch between screens with three finger swipe etc.
Yes, gestures are enabled in preferences.
    Any clues?

Having same issue with iMac and Magic Mouse.
I found that Mission Control stopped working as well (even with the App shortcut in Applications) and as such found a quicker workaround than login / logout.  Open Terminal and type:
    killall Dock
This will restart the Dock and Mission Control etc and seems to restore the gestures.
    Cheers

  • Facetime not working after Mountain Lion update

I have a Macbook Pro. After I updated to Mountain Lion (from Lion), Facetime no longer works. I've tried with multiple people, but they aren't receiving my calls and I'm not receiving their calls. In Lion Facetime worked fine, but now it's not working. I also can't get iMessages to work. This is very frustrating, because I was really looking forward to iMessages. My Macbook Pro is still new, I purchased it in the first week August (2012). It came with Lion already installed. It's only 2 months old now. So I know my computer can support all of Mountain Lion's features. By the way, I'm running on Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Any help would be great! Thanks

  • Trackpad click not working after Mountain Lion update

I updated computer in question, a 2009 MacBook, to Mountain Lion today, and it appeared to work.  It installed, then I was prompted with a log-in screen. I entered my Apple ID and password, but was unable to click go. Easily hit enter instead; this worked.  The next screen, however is a Terms and Conditions one with only the options of "Back" and "Next." I cannot click on either of these.  The mouse moves around perfectly when I use the track pad, but I am unable to choose anything by clicking and therefore cannot get past this screen and to my computer. Any help?? Thank you!

According to the Dymo Technical Support page for that model:

    - QR and PDF options have been added to the available barcode list.
    - Minor bugs were fixed.
    - Support for Mac OS® v10.8 Mountain Lion
Have you installed the driver version 8.4.1 as mentioned above?
    Hope this helps

  • 2010 Mini superdrive has stopped working after Mountain Lion update - anyone else?

After updating to 10.8 the superdrive on my 2010 mini has completely stopped working. It will not accept any disks. Disk Utility sees the drive as a working drive. Anyone else having this issue? If yes and you've resolved it, how??

Same thing happened to me with Mountain Lion. It seems that at the moment there's no solution. I've tried to burn a DVD with Toast Titanium, iDVD and the SimplyBurn. All of them failed.
It's a shame that Apple did this because we pay for a computer with a drive that could burn DVD discs. I´m very, very disappointed with Apple!

  • HT1338 early 2012 macbook air clamshell mode not working after mountain lion update

Can't make 2012 MBA 13" work in clamshell mode after updating to Mountain Lion.  All peripheral devices are connected, as is AC power.  Closing lid causes external monitor to enter sleep mode (presumably, the MBA is going to sleep as well).
Power settings are set to stay awake when on AC power.
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto won't load after Mountain Lion update

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my iPhoto will not open. The error message says I need to update my library in Aperature. I've opened the Library in Aperature but I get the same message when trying to open iPhoto again. Is there a way to reinstall iPhoto? Will that even help?

I had the same issue with each of iPhoto, Google Chrome, and the Kindle app.  Saw on another thread w/r/t the iPhoto issue, a recommendation to re-install Mountain Lion.  I did that, and now all 3 of those programs are working just fine.
