My app icons are blank

My app icons appear as white boxes with the app names underneath it. What can I do to fix this?

Try a hard reset first. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If that doesn't work, unsync and resync the apps from your iPod via iTunes.

Maybe delete the app and reload it from your backup?
BTW, did you run a general app update after upgrading to iOS5? I ask because I had about a dozen or so app updates available around the time that iOS5 came out. Worth checking in the app store.

After rearranging icons on Springboard, some icons are blank

I moved several apps to different locations or pages. When I turned on the phone this morning, most of the app icons are blank. I resynced with iTunes but now both iTunes and the iPhone are showing blank icons. How do I get the icons back?

I unchecked all additional apps on the iPhone from the iTunes app tab and then resynced to remove the apps from the device. I then checked the apps again and resynced. The icons were no longer blank on the iPhone Springboard but were no longer arranged on the pages I had moved them to. I'll live with this solution until someone else posts a reply.

Upgraded iPhone to install iCloud, now icons are blank white boxes

I have been a MobileMe user for 4 years. Since Apple will no longer support MobileMe, I decided to join iCloud. I upgraded my Mac to Lion, no problem. But when I went to upgrade my phone's ios, a dozen of my app icons went blank white. The titles are still there; the apps appear to be working, but the screeen sure looks strange with all these white squares. How can I restore the icon pictorial?

Start with a simple Reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first).
A new sync with iTunes might also be a good idea.

Yes, it doesn't work. I ran in safe mode. nothing changed. I uninstalled Mozilla firefox with only standard removal, no change. I finally uninstalled Mozilla with complete removal and reinstalled it, then it return to normal. Why does this happen? Thanks for your reply.

That happened to me for a short period of time after I updated. It didn't do it with all apps, but it did it with a few here and there. Try a few basic standard troubleshooting steps. Close all apps and reset the iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
You can also try resetting all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
Hopefully it will be something simple, but don't rule out restoring the iOS software, if nothing else works, but start with this easy stuff first.

The date randomly changed and all app icons are white?!?

I updated my apps to their latest version and when the sync was done everything was fine, but somehow out of nowhere my date changed completely and all my app icons are white. Only apps that I did not update had their original icon. My ipod touch 2nd gen is not jailbroken. This happened once before, I updated my apps, and it went back to normal only for a few hours until it happpened again.
What is going on and how can I fix this?

Same thing happened to me! I took it into the apple store and they said its a glitch in the system and that it needed to be restored to original settings. You can do this from itunes, just don't restore from backup, set up as new.
He made a list of the apps I had to make sure he could download them again for me. It shouldnt be a problem with icloud but if you dont have it, i would recommend asking someone at the apple store to do it for you so you dont lose your apps.
Also, mine was great for a while after that but I have noticed that its back to changing the date. It only happens when I let my itouch's battery die completely so I try not to but it is still annoying when it does happen.

- Are the apps missing or are the icons white?
- If missing have yu tried using the Spotlight search and trying to find them?
- Have you tried downloading them on your iPad and then syncing?
- Have you tried deleting them on the computer and then syncing? That might also delete them from the iPad so you can redownal them
- Have you tried reetting the iPad?

Make sure your phone is connected to the computer and iTunes is open
1. Visit Instagram.com from your computer web browser
2. Click "Download in the app store"
3. It will download and show up in your iTunes
4. Highlight and sync the app to your iPhone (note: it will not show up on your phone, even after it says syncing is complete).
5. In iTunes, select the Instagram icon and click "Remove" or "Uninstall"
6. Click Accept and Uninstall when it asks you to confirm as it will remove instagram and its data from your iPhone
7. Disconnect the phone from the computer
8. Manually reboot the phone after exiting all apps
9. Upon re-start, you will be able to access the app in the App Store, and install it

I upgraded last night and now some of my app icons are missing. If I do a spotlight search and find the app I can then launch the app from there but I would like to have the icon back to use rather than a workaround.

After the IOIS 5.0 update my apps weren't showing on my device until I tabbed thru several screens on the phone. The only other issue was when I did a "restore" to new , not from backup because I was issues with the update (Bugs) Did a update and my apps didn't show until I did a " File" ................Transfer Purchases from Iphone.....with the device connected to ITunes...........then Sync................ InDesign Icons are Blank in MacOs10.10.3

On my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009--2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)
I have uninstalled CS6 and CC14, reinstalled CC14 and still all my InDesign file icons are blank. I can use Get Info and past the icon from a file that still has one, but nothing else has worked. The InDesign install is from a package and initially it did sync with the admin account (not mine) and I think that is when the problem started. On the uninstall, I checked uninstall preferences and On the second install, I made sure Sync Settings is turned off. Anything I can do?

What do you mean with the install is from a package?
Did you install it from the original installer, which is the only way to install any Adobe Program or do you mean with package some kind from migration?

Ipod app icons are grey

I have just received my new ipod touch 2nd generation back from apple as my other one would no longer work. Having synced my material to my new ipod. 75 % of the app icons are just grey boxes . How do i fix this please to get the icons back on the apps..any help would be greatly appreciated

Yea ipod touchs do that, there probably downloading and you unplugged it, am i right? If you have alot of music and apps it should take from 30-60 mins to reinstall them...connect it to your computer and sync purchases or connect to wifi click apps to make them stop "waiting..."
NOTE: only one app can download at a time dont click them all at once clck one and leave it alone if you use wifi.
