My app store looks strange

Hey all,
A few days ago, I was justing checking my email and received a notification saying that updates needed my approval to install. (nothing out of the ordinary) However, once I opened the Mac App Store, it looked very strange. It took forever to load, which hasn't been an issue up till now, and everything is aligned to the far left side. The best way i can describe it is that it resembled a very basic website but I have no idea why its appearing on my screen this way. I know I didn't do the greatest job explaining my problem, but any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Apps store looks different suddenly

Just today when I signed onto the app store, looks completely different, text vs graphic based, everything in verrtical format, can't really select anything to order (button to buy is gone)
    What gives?

I get this occasionally too. I don't think it's the iPad, but something messed up in the store code. I think that because even after rebooting and restarting the store, the glitches are exactly the same. Then minutes or hours later, everything is back to normal. I've also noticed that the navigation is frequently messed up after viewing an item, with the back button sometimes going back to the page where it's supposed to, but sometimes going back to the first page of items instead. There doesn't seem to be any logic to the problem, either.

  • App Store displaying stranger's Apple ID

I tried to buy Lion today. In the Store menu the email address for my Apple ID is correctly displayed. But when I try to purchase Lion, a panel pops up showing an Apple ID I've never heard of. I rebooted, logged out and back in again, and the same email shows up. When I try to log in with my own account, I get the "There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later.(4)" message. Any ideas about what could be causing this? I'm at my wits end and I'd really like to get Lion as soon as possible.

    +1 to the problem
Already contacted Apple MAS Support and didn't help about this,
The only thing they could do is to appoint me with an Apple expert
    Steps that I've done,
    Logout ->login
    Logout -> reboot -> login
Logout -> delete all MAS's plists -> reboot -> login
Logout -> delete all MAS apps -> reboot -> login
Create a new partition -> install SL -> login
They all failed the only step that I DIDN'T try is:
Goto strangers Mac ->login -> purchase Lion -> go back to my Mac -> purchased -> download Lion
So if you can find someone's computer try this step!!

  • Mac App Store acting strangely for about a month now

I have snow leopard and when I go into the Mac App store, and click on "Categories", I then cannot click on headings such as "Productivity" or "Games". But I can click on the items under those headings. When I say "cannot click" I mean that when I click on the heading, it blinks as though I did click on it, but then it goes nowhere, just stays at that main category screen. It does it for every catergory heading. Everything else working fine with my system. I have 10.6.8, imac 21.5. I also have a macbook air that I have upgraded to mountain lion and it works fine on that machine. Not sure what is going on, such an odd problem to have. Sure does slow me down from buying on the mac app store, that's for sure, hmmm, maybe this is a good thing LOL. Seriously though, any help would be appreciated.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
It's not just you and your kit, it is behaving that way for me as well in Mountain Lion. So I surmise it is doing that for everyone.

  • The app store on my iPad looks like a broken web page?

Hi! First, let me apologise if this is in the wrong ocation. If it is, please move the thread. Thanks! (Sorry.)
    Now only the problem...
I'm no newb to technology so I'll do what I can to explain this. It's an intermittent and unusual issue, basically, and what happens is that for most of the day the app store looks like a broken web page (like CSS and images aren't loading), and I can only access it normally every now and then. But here's where it gets weird.
The PC iTunes is fine (both web and application) and loads images, behaves normally, and so on. No issues there. All sites are accessible, and I have no trouble reaching Apple servers (I've run latency checks).
    What I've also tried:
    - Rebooting my router (multiple times).
    - Closing all apps on the iPad (including the store) then trying the app store (as the only app open).
    - Rebooting the iPad, then trying again.
    - Signing out of the store, rebooting the iPad, and signing in before trying again.
    - Doing the above step but with all apps closed first.
    - Browsing on the iPad (via Maven and Safari), both are fine. No weird Internet issues.
What boggles the mind is that the PC iTunes and web version of the app store works. I mean, if I go to the web app store and look at the page for a game, I get images of the game. If I use my iPad, I get the border of the image with a [?] icon in it. (As I said, it looks like a broken web page where CSS and images just aren't loading.)
Sometimes, but more rarely, I'll have trouble connecting to the store.
And occasionally (but even more rarely) it behaves just fine.
If it wasn't for the intermittent nature of it I'd be convinced that I'd somehow corrupted the app store on the iPad somehow. But the more I think about it the more I wonder if this is my ISP somehow being ridiculous despite the web/PC application working. And currently I'm really at a loss. It's worse because when I want to sit down and browse the app store to buy some things, I can't. So this is stopping me from giving Apple money.
It might just be my ISP though. My ISP is Surfwise, if it helps. As I said, no other Internet issues at all.

    Boo. I can't edit. Sorry...
I also want to note that my iPad is -not- rooted and is quite new. And also that it's a third generation iPad.

  • My font app store in iPad look bigger than usual and I can't download anything neither update my apps

My font app store look bigger than usual
How can I return it to normal?
I can't download anything and updating my apps
I already reset setting but it cannot help
    It still look bigger

If pinching the screen does not work, try shutting down the app in the task bar.
Double tap the home button, press and hold the app store app untill it wiggles. Press the red dot to close.
    Tap the home button again.
    Other things to try:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).

  • Unwanted languages in App Store

    Hello,
I have an iPad application on App Store.
Strangely the application is described to support 15 languages - English, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, French... which is not true.
    I didn't specify these languages.
Does anyone know how to remove all these languages? Some visitors are confused with this incorrect information.
    Thank you in advance.

I remember reading a few years back NOT to delete the free Apple Apps like iMovie, Garageband iPhoto etc - can't remember why, but I've heeded that advice ever since. But a web search or two looks like that's no longer the case, so I'll try it. Thanks.

  • Downloads- Mac App Store

Though the App Store lists all downloads purchased or free; how can I automate the process so that all my Mac Apps downloads go to a folder in it self rather than showing on the dock or searching via Finder? Only choice would be open the App Store look at the download/purchased and use Finder to execute them.
I see no options in the App Store to divert the downloads to a separate folder?
    Any thoughts/comments?
    Azim

I think the Store app can track the downloads wherever they are. I have just downloaded from the Store an app I already have and which is located in a specific folder I created some time ago. The new download from the App Store got placed into that folder and NOT the normal /Applications.
So if it can work out that the app needed to be downloaded to a non standard folder, I'm thinking it can probably work out updates for an app wherever it is stored.
In any case, OSX is actually very good at finding apps wherever they are. You can store them anywhere and they will run - unlike another popular OS I can think of...

  • When I try to download a app from my App Store which is free it asks for my bank details why?and how do I get rid of this problem?

I have a problem with my App Store whenever I try to download a free app from it a red writing pops up at the top saying "there was a billing problem with my previous purchase" therefore it won't allôw me to download and install any free app please give me some advice on how to get rid of this thanks.

Thanks Ralph, i tried that but it still didnt change the ID on the apps store. Strange thing is I tried my origional password and it worked, it seems the Apple ID ie my email address is not transfering to the app store , as when I try to download something and it requests my password when the Apple ID box opens, the ID is still missing a letter? Im at a loss as to how this happened or how to change it, but as it s working with my old password should I be worried about it? its different to anything else On apple ID , other than the one missing letter its the same email address but a different password for each one. It seems that what ever is in my Apple ID, it wont transfer to the app store Apple ID?

  • Layered Icon in App Store

We have an app configured to be a Newsstand, magazine application and the icon looks flat in the iOS app switcher.  Why does the icon in the App Store look layered like a Newspaper app?

I definitely selected magazine, because this was a mistake we've accidentally made in the past.  Notice the layered icon in the app store, but not the iOS app selector.

  • "Use the purchases page to try again" App store update error in Mavericks

When Mavericks came out, I did a clean install of the OS. The first thing I did upon logging in, was reverting iTunes back to 10.7 before I opened it so it wouldn't update my iTunes library files and make them incompatible with any version lower than 11 (I went backt to 10.7 some time ago).
However, this seems to cause a problem with the App store - specfically updating apps. Whenever I try to update anything, I get this error message:
After going to the purchases page, it then looks like this:
And so after trying to update it from the purchaes page, I still get this error message:
The only work around I have found to work is to update itunes to version 11, update the apps, then downgrade back to 10.7 again. This is a hastle so I'm wondering if there is an easier way. Obviously the app store in Mavericks needs iTunes 11 installed for it to work correctly - so I was thinking, was there a way to trick OSX into thinking that I have iTunes 11 installed when I actually have 10.7? I'm assuming there must be a file somewhere included in the version 11 install that the app store looks for to work with?
    Any advice/help would be appreciated!

    Ok,  time to troubleshoot then.
    Quit the Mac App Store
Run the terminal app in your Utilities folder
Copy & Paste this command exactly and hit return:
    open $TMPDIR../C/
In the Finder window that appears, place the com.apple.appstore folder into the trash.
Restart the Mac App Store and see if things work now.

Agreed. You're most likely putting the system to sleep while its trying to do those updates. Let them complete before closing the lid or shutting off the power.
Also check the sleep settings in the sys prefs under Energy Saver.
Make sure the CPU sleep is set to be long enough that it can complete the downloads before shutting down.
