My apple email will not spell check. i are ignored. proper names ignored . is there a solution?

my mac email will not spell check." i " shuold be "I" is note corrected or flagged. proper names not corrected. see this example of how it doesn't work :

Uncheck it, recheck it, leave that pref window open... does it spell check now?

Email Not Spell Checking

I am new to this medium, so please forgive me if I am in a wrong community. I am new to MAC also. My question is simply, when I type in MAIL it will not spell check as I type. I have followed the instructions in the edit tab as well as those in preferences, still no spell checking while I type. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated... Thanks so...

Do you mean that in Mail Preferences>Composing, you have say Check spelling as I type checked & it still doesn't?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

What message do you have?
Do your outgoing SMTP servers are online or offline (Mail > Preferences > Accounts > select account and check under Outgoing Mail Server)

I only synch and do not stream off of my 1st Gen AppleTV
I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)

I'm having the same problem.
Error message reads: This account cannot be used with Apple TV. Please sign in with different account.
I'm using my gmail account to access Youtube as i do on my Mac. I have a completely different Apple ID account.

Are you getting any errors when you try to send? Or does it just get stuck in your outbox sending? Simple thing to do is reset your iPad by holding down the home and power button until you see the silver apple then just let the iPad start normally. If the issues still persist as mentioned above got to Settings>mail, contacts, and calendars and just turn of mail then turn back on. See if you get any errors if not check your mail again and attempt to send the email. If all above fail. Go back to settings and then mail, contacts, and calendars then select the email account that you are having issues with then delete the account. Once deleted select the option to add account and re add your email account back to your iPad. Let me know if this works for you.

I agree, i can't understand why they don't just explain the settings. And why they do not consistently work.
I too had issues, Outlook was "working" when i set up the @me account, then I started getting the annoying little internat email login popup (that does not go away). Finally after many "experiments" i have it "apparently working" (will explain working with the following settings:
accoutn type: IMAP
incoming server: imap.mail.me.com Port: 993: SSL
outgoing server: smtp.mail.me.com Port: 25 (default): Auto
"Require SPA" is checked, but not on outgoing server.
It does now finally work without putting up the annoying internet email login. However, now i discoverd a greater problem.
OUTLOOK IS NOT REALLY SENDING THE EMAIL. It is putting it in the "sent" box as if it did, but no one receives it. No errors, no warning. And this dates all the way back to the time i started using the @me account. My only work around is to use the stupid icloud mail browser app. Really low in functionality compared to outlook.
This really affects the reliability of the icloud product and this is a serious error. It really cuts down on the utility of the icloud and whewther it can be integrated with the PC at all. Like everyone else i have also had the creation of multiple calendars and multiple contacts.
Apple better fix this quick or a lot of people will start using gmail, droid and google cloud products.

Overnight, text body of emails will not display for messages in inbox-only the from and to and a subject line displays. Draft messages in Ipad display fully. Inbox emials display fully on my main Dell computer and my Iphone. Any ideas? Duanekot

See if this helps .... Reset the iPad.
Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider bar - let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up. Then check your emails.

My icloud email will not load

My icloud email will not load.
     On any computer, Mac or PC at the icloud.com it will not load and sends an error message to apple.
     On my Mac it states that my password or email address is incorrect. This is not true as I have changed it and all other apple accounts work.
     On my iPhone it states my password is incorrect--it is not, again I have checked and re-entered it numerous times.
I have checked and done all the troubleshooting I can find.
I have checked all the communities and it seems some others are experiencing this same problem.
I have called apple support and (of course) they want me to pay for someone to help me--which I would do if this was an issue with my hardware or software.
I have an appointment today with the genius bar at my local store.
I believe this is an apple icloud server issue.
I would not be posting if this had not been happening since Christmas day. It has been over a week since I have been able to retrieve my email.
If anyone can help that would be wonderful, but please do not refer me to the troubleshooting pages as I have researched them extensively.

This same thing started for me today as well: None of my devices (iMac, MacBook 2 iPhones, iPad, 2 Apple TV's) which require Apple ID to work for mail, etc., would work this morning. I kept getting a message that my password or email address was incorrect. I was also notified my Apple ID password had "a security problem" and needed to be changed.
I was reluctant to change the password with my Apple ID, since I have been using it for nearly ten years, and will clearly never forget it. However, this old password only has six characters, all lower case. Apple now seems to want a password with at least eight characters, one of which is capitalized, etc. I went ahead and changed to a new 2012-model password, following Apple's guidelines, and voila, once I changed to that password on all of my devices they all work as they should!
What the heck? I guess I didn't have anything better to do between 10:00 and 11:00 am today anyway. While this seems like the right fix, I would have preferred it if Apple had sent out an advance notification that they are requiring more rigorous passwords, rather than just rejecting our old ones as a New Year's present. It would have saved some head scratching.

My emails will not post

For the last few days my emails will not go further than the outbox, they are replies and new emails, but none will actually sennd out. Is there anything i can check on the iPad as this is really annoying.

I have tried everything that has been written about the problem, unfortunately, nothing has worked and since the original email problem, my connection to iTunes and Apple had also crashed. I then resorted to calling Applecare Protection Plan as I had paid for the extra two years cover as I live in Spain and wanted the extra cover.
The contact at Apple, Ireland, has tried everything to resolve the problem, re-setting the iPad to Factory settings and downloading all my contacts and Apps onto iCloud then back onto the iPad........ The iTunes and Apple App are now functioning correctly, BUT the email situation is not resolved and the problem is going to be looked into fully and my contact hopes she will find a solution as she hasn't come across this before.
So at the moment I can send out a new email, but if it is replied to and I then reply, the email stays in the Outbox and will not move. So thank you for your help but my case is not yet resolved.

For the past week my phone will not push the new emails to my phone. I have it where I fetch my emails manually. I'm getting the spinning wheel of death and it says "Checking for mail", but the emails will not show up.
Something seems to be sucking the battery life out of my phone. (Is this related?)
What I have done: Reset the phone; deleted the email account and added it back on. Nothing seems to work.
Everything else on my phone seems to be working fine.

Please check if this issue affects all activesync users. If only one user is affected, please check if this user is in quarantine list.
And you can enable the ActiveSync Mailbox Logging and then check if there is any related information.

Exchange email will not work when offline

Anyone know when Apple will fix this issue? Email will not work correctly unless connected to wireless. This makes it impossible to be productive while flying. This is exclusive to exchange servers as it woks on POP accounts.

I know that. When I work on my laptop I can file, reply, delete etc. and when I land it updates all the folders and sends and recevies all the mail. the iPad will not let you file or delete emails unless connected. This makes flying time completely unproductive. If I have to have a laptop to do email why have an iPad???

Email will not let me change fonts all of a sudden. It says I don't have the neccesay permissions in ~/library/preferences. this has just happened recently.

Who is your email provider?
You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.
If yes, try deleting the mail account and adding it again.
