My apple ID is correct and so is my password but my Apple TV still won't connect?? why!

I am new to Apple products but am familiar with how they work
for some reason my Apple ID and Password are not connecting through to my Apple TV
It is simply saying it is incorrect, after several attempts to reset my password and re-check my ID
It does not connect
Any help will be much appreciated
