My apple id password has been changed. Suspicious e-mail...Hacked?

Hello. I am the owner of an apple iPhone 5. I recently tried to update an app, to my dismay, the app store was not recognizing my apple id password. I checked my email to see if there was an email and sure enough, there was an email from apple with the subject reading "How to Reset your Apple id Password" and also "Your Apple id Password has been reset". The disturbing part is that these emails were received at 1:26 AM and 1:27 AM. The other mysterious part is that the emails do not show up in my email on the computer, but they do on my phone. However, the emails were deleated from my mailbox. I know this because i tried to access them on my phone and what I get is "Sorry, there was an error while loading this message." All feeback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem.
This morning received a message that my password has successfully been reset, although I did not reset this.
My password did not work anymore so it has indeed been reset.
So I changed my password again.
I did not change my security questions because I have changed them not long ago.
I also did not receive a mail of 'how to reset your password, so it wasn't hacked through my mail.
But to be sure I did change my mailbox password.
I have an apple device (iPhone 5 and ipad) since November 2012 and it had been hacked already 4 times. 2 times by someone from china who bought an app and bought for 120euros of in-app purchases which luckily got refunded.
I really don't know how they do this. I am the only one who knows the answers to the security questions and there is no way someone could guess these because some answers are fictional. I have also had to change my password a dozen times and there are no kids in my household that can tingle with my devices.
My iPhone and iPad are genuine and not jail-broken.

I have changed my email password aswell as having to keep changing my apple is password an it keeps changing?

Sounds like you follow good practices.
This has been going around for some time in various forms, a number of users have asked about it and the best advice is if in doubt go doirectly to Apple, not links in the email.  Calling Apple or using the Apple site is always the best approach.
A few have even noticed very slight misspellings in the emails, things like Appel instead of Apple...most people don't even notice those.
Anyway, safe computing and have a good day.

  • Recieving a 'Your Apple ID password has been reset.' e-mail every few days

    Greetings!
I have an inactive Apple ID that has been dormant for over two years. A few months ago I began receiving Your Apple ID password has been reset.
e-mails every few weeks. Changing my password resolved the problem...for a couple of weeks. About two weeks ago I started recieving the 'password reset' e-mail every second or third day. I change my password and a day or two later...same e-mail. I looked for a 'delete account' option in the Apple ID section of the Apple website but could not find one.
My main Apple ID (the one I am currently using) is safe but I don't like the fact that my old account is being accessed regularly. There must be a way to delete the old account permanently. Thanks in advance to anyone who can point in the right direction.
    Cheers!

You'll have to contact apple support and see if they can delete the apple ID for you

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It depends on which password you are referring to, but generally speaking you can always restore the Apple TV.

  • HT6154 My Apple account password has been reset on the count that it says it's incorrect.  I just made a new one after making a previous new one, and now it says the new one is incorrect after trying to log in to download an app.  EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED & C

My Apple account password has been reset a couple times due to Apple telling me my passwords are incorrect.  I know they aren't because I have already had to change the password three times, and I keep record of my password.  Yet, it continuously tells me my password is incorrect.  I have just changed it, again, and now I cannot log into the itunes store to download an app because it's telling me my new password is incorrect.
I just bought the new iphone 5s today, so does this have anything to do with it?  Please help, this is extremely frustrating.

Need to Resume download to complete the ongoing Process.
Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend.

  • You have been signed out from iMessage because your AppleID or password has been changed

I can not connact to iMessage. The following message is displayed after entering Apple ID and Password.
"You have been signed out from iMessage because your Apple ID or Password has been changed."
    Apple ID is confirmed.
Date and time and country setting o.k.
Apple ID works to buy things in the apple store.
Imassege works with the ID from my father.
    Thank you

Another problem with Firefox is that if I'm typing up a long paragraph in my Yahoo email that takes about 10-15 minutes or more, then when I hit send, I get a Yahoo sign in page. All that typing is gone!! Now I have to type the whole thing over again, if I can remember it. It's pain in the butt!!
I've learned the hard way that any time I use Firefox, I have to copy & paste it to Notepad, sign back in, and paste it in my email, and hit send before it happens again. I don't have this problem w/I.E. The problem I do have w/I.E. is that it takes forever to work. That's why I went to Firefox but now Firefox has problems.

  • I have had an email saying that my Apple ID  password has been reset. This was not by me. Does this mean that someone has accessed my account?

I have received an email saying that my Apple ID has been reset. This wasn't by me!! Does this mean that someone has accessed my account. Tried phoning Apple but they keep sending me emails saying that they have tried but I haven't answered. My number is correct.

Are you sure they say the password has been changed or that *if* you want to change it, then go to a web site and do it there.  If the latter, just ignore the email.  If the former (and I'm assuming the email is regarding a changed password, but it could mean the security questions have been changed), then using a computer's browser, try logging into icloud.com.  If you can do that using the old password, then it's not clear what the email means.

  • My apple id has been disabled and all my apple acct info has been changed to someone elses info, only my email address is the same

My apple id has been disabled and all my apple acct info has been changed to someone else's info. The only thing the same is my email address and now I can't download any music from itunes. Is Apple trying to extort money from us now by forcing us to pay to use their tech reps?

You are being phished.  I suggest that you immediately change your Apple ID password as it might now be compromised.  Never (and I mean never) follow a link in an unsolicited email.  Go directly to the Apple website to handle this.

  • Server password has been changed!!!!

  • How do I delete an old icloud account off my phone if the email address had been hacked and the password has been changed?

My old email was hacked and since then my passwords have been changed. I have a new apply ID which if fine, but my phone is asking me for my old apple ID password before I can delete it from my ICloud. The problem is I cant reset the password and my birthday verification isnt working. I am unable to do anything in icloud because it is forever telling me my password is wrong. my new apple ID seems to be working on every other part of my phone. Any ideas what to do?

Well you can try this, but I'm not sure it's going to work if this is an entirely new ID.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I keep getting emails saying my password has been changed , everytime i go reset it with stronger passwords, but it keeps happening, anyone got any ideas?

Hi all, I keep getting emails saying my password has changed, I have now reset my password 4 times in the last 2 weeks with stronger and stronger passwords and have also changed my security questions, anyone got any ideas how to resolve this problem?

No.   I am a volunteer, not always on good terms with Apple either.   I'm sorry I don't seem to have helped but what I told you is what I would tell anyone in your situation.
I hope Thomas r won't mind me pasting one of his replies, but the thread is so long it could be daunting.   Thomas knows about these things.

As has already been pointed out earlier in this topic, the issue is either a repeated phishing attempt (in which someone sends you a faked e-mail, directing you to a faked site, which tries to get you to "log in" so that the hackers can get your ID and password) or someone is repeatedly trying to get access to your account. I'm guessing the latter is more likely... someone's repeatedly trying to reset your password, for who knows what reason, and they're trying repeatedly because they're never getting the password reset e-mail. (Why they would expect to receive that e-mail I don't know... people are stupid.)
Make sure your Apple ID has a good, secure password. (There is no need to reset your own password to do this, just go toappleid.apple.com and change it.) I'd also advise turning on two-factor authentication to further protect your Apple ID:
    Apple introduces two-factor authentication
This will prevent password reset attempts, as it will not be possible to even start the password reset process without having access to the device used to receive the code used as the second identification factor.
    Hope this helps.

  • My apple ID password has been reset (weekly basis) by someone else

Every now and then I get an email from apple support that my password to my account has been succesfully reset. The only problem is that it's not me who keeps resetting it! After these mails I've been changing my password a couple of times in a month for almost a year now, and I'm running out of good passwords that I can remember...how can I get rid of hackers, it would be nice to be able to use the same password for longer periods

There could be many reasons.  Another person may be using your computer or has been able to access your email account.  We all use so many devices you have to also make sure any phones or tablets that you use are secureas well.  Try changing your apple email address, your apple password, and the email's password.
