My Apple ID password keeps expiring

What has happened is that on June 4, 2012, I turned on my iPhone 4 ot see that it was asking for my Apple ID password.  The password I had had for a while now was no longer working.  Hadn't changed it, and I hadn't forgotten it - the password I was using had just suddenly stopped.
I went to iforgot.apple.com and reset it.  Saw that the password requirements had been updated a bit to insist that I include an uppercase letter in addition to lowercase letters.  Figured that that was why my password mysteriously stopped working.
Today the same thing happened, only this time I turned on my iPad to see that Messenger was asking for my Apple ID password.  I entered it in once, and it didn't work...entered it in a second time and the password prompt disappeared, so I figured that it accepted the password.  Same thing happened on my iPhone.
Then I get to my computer and I see that I cannot log in to icloud.com with the new password I had created on June 4.  Once again, I had to change the stupid password.
Why is this happening (short of someone hacking into my account)?  Is the stupid password going to expire on Wednesday, because I am traveling that day and I'd really rather not have to deal with an expired password.

I believe that you have kept the same password for a very long time.  This is the case for my wife on her Apple ID account as well. This problem is affecting only a subset of user accounts.
Perhaps you are right that the server is reacting to some suspicious activity.  If that is the case, it sure would be nice if Apple gave the user a hint as to what activity triggered it.  If Apple is unable to solve this for me, I will be keeping track of precisely when the password expirations occur to see if the same amount of time elaspes between each occurance.
For what it is worth, your theory about what is causing the password resets directly contradicts what thehello wrote previously in this thread:

I have the answer! I called Apple tech support and they know why this is happening!!!
At some point in the past, when you went to appleid.apple.com and logged in, under the "Password and Security" option, there was a setting that allowed you to manage how often your password would expire, ie. every 1, 3, 6, 12 months... you get the idea. Well, in the recent past Apple made some changes and security enhancements to better protect peoples' private information, and guess what? They have since removed this option. One of the Senior Technical Advisors who knew exactly what I was talking about (and had intentionally turned this setting on for themselves) went into their own account, but alas, it the option was not there.
Perhaps the Advisor he talked to was incorrect.

  • My apple ID password keeps changing without my authority!! Please help!

My apply ID password keeps getting changed on me. I get an email alert saying my ID has been changed, and then when I go to look at that email wondering how it got changed when I never changed it, it shows that the email is now in the "Trash" folder in my email....so I go to my trash box and then the email is not even there. I have taken screen shots of all of this happening(from the email alert to the message being in the trash). It is happening literally once to twice a week! I have changed all the security questions and passwords. I have even called apple and they could not help me. Anyone have any advice?

    Hi!,
I'm sorry to hear about your situation!
Try logging in from another computer and changing the security questions to highly specific answers (make sure to write them down).
If you use a credit card with your account, you may consider temporarily removing it from your account (you can use the application iTunes (in the menu bar: store > view account > view payment information) for this), as well as checking whether unauthorised purchases have been made.  If so, you may consider contacting law enforcement services.
I hope you are able to resolve your issue!,
    Kind regards,

  • Apple ID Password keeps popping up

Earlier today I had to restore my iPhone, and it screwed some stuff up.
An iCloud restore got most of it working, but a few things were wrong. My apps were out of order (not in any folders), and a couple other minor things. No big deal though.
After syncing my music back, my iPhone keeps asking for a few different Apple ID passwords...since it keeps suggesting a few different Apple IDs, I am led to believe that I have music from a few friends that I previously had authorized, but now I need to re-authorize them.
Honestly, I'd like to just get rid of those couple songs (I have too many for one or two to matter probably). How can I find a song that has a certain Apple ID? Either in iTunes or on my iPhone, I don't care.
    Thanks!

What the phone is trying to do is download some music off the cloud that's tied to these other people. Click the iTunes App and if there is a number pending in your downloads this should be the issue.
Also delete this music in your Music App. This is music that you added to your Library that was purchased by someone else not with your iPhone but it contains the info

  • I want to download apps but my apple id passwords keeps popping up and its annoying. How do i stop that?

How do i stop the apple id password from popping up when i want to download apps ?

You don't. That is how it works. It is a verification process. Would you like anyone that picked up your phone to be able to make purchases? I don't think so.

  • My iphone 4 has become unusable because Incorrect Apple ID Password keeps popping up even though I have entered my password correctly

The message just keeps popping up and I can't do anything with the phone. It's most frustrating

If it says incorrect password the password is incorrect, even if you think it is correct. But are you sure it is asking for the password for the same account that you are entering the password for?

  • My Apple ID password keeps changing without my permission?

I keep getting an email to tell me that my Apple ID has been successfully changed - but without my permission?
I've had to change it 4 times and no doubt it seems to keep on happening?
    What's going on ?
    Any ideas
    Thanks

    Update:
I've done a little research, fromsouth, which I guess is always best as you quite rightly said.
Although it sounded like you were leading me clearly onto the path of enlightenment by saying "only I know the answers to those questions" it made me smile, since they were technical questions which I had no answer to at that time.
I'm glad, albeit a nuisance jimmy that someone has the same problem.
If apple can't help then that's not very promising is it?
My only conclusion to solve this problem is to use 2 step verification which means somebody, if indeed it's of a hacking nature, would need to have access to the device where you'd receive a 4 number pin to make any changes to your Apple ID.
I'm far from technical but I'm hoping this will work? If that doesn't then I guess I'll go to an apple store and camp out until I understand what's what.
    Thanks
    Ade

  • Password keeps expiring?

Every few days my Apple password stops working and I have to reset it... am I the only one having this problem?

Then you probably do have some IT Policy on it...
Will you check at Options > Security > General Settings and scroll to the bottom near **services** is there any policy named?

Same issues here. I try and log into face time and cloud, it tells me my email is not veryfied. I go back through the link sent in the verification email and, low and behold, it tells me my address has already been veryfied.

  • Why does my password keep changing?

Do you share your Apple ID with anyone else? If so, could they be changing it? Your Apple ID password does not change on its own.

"If you've forgotten the Apple ID password how did you log in to make the last post?"
Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it.

I cannot use my Ipad because Im getting a pop up asking for my Apple ID password but when I enter it the pop up just keeps coming back and doesn't go away. It pops up every second it doesn't let me do anything on my Ipad not even turn on WiFi! The account and pasword are correct in fact I can use them fine on my Iphone. I have tried restarting my Ipad and turning it of, it doesn't work! What is happening and what can I do to fix it?

    Same problem for me.
    1. Cannot connect to wifi as icloud password pop up keeps appearing.
    2. tried deleting account. UNable to do so.
    3. tried resetting password by logging into apple id through desktop as mentioned in one of the responses in another thread. Unfortunately the apple id to be reset is the same as being prompted by icloud and hence unable to reset the same.

  • ITunes 11.0.3 asks for password again and again, have re-done my credit card details, have changed my Apple ID password, tried to log in and out of iTunes, none of thos seem to work, just keeps happening without end, please help

I have tried to re-install iTunes 11.0.3 at least 6 times.
I have also downloaded iTunes 11.0.3 at least 5 times.
I have changed my Apple ID password.
I have downloaded (again, I've done that many times) iTunes 11.0.3, then I switched off the iMac, then restarted the wi-fi modem.  Switched on the iMac, loaded iTunes, same problem.
I tried to just switch off the wi-fi, did the same as point above, same problem.
Even tried to change the system date to 2038, this only seemed (although I doubt it) to fix the "not responding" issue which I had this morning.
The Apple ID password issue, where it asks me for the password loads and loads of times (probably 50 times or more), one after the other has been happening for about 3 days now.
Here is a copy of my message problem:
iTunes Problem, can't seem to find a solution online.
I am running OS X 10.8.3 on an iMac, have just loaded iTunes 11.0.3 a few days ago.
Firstly, I'd open iTunes and it would immediately say it was not responding, I'd have to force quit, try again, re-boot, try again etc.  I tried re-installing iTunes, changing password, everything to no avail, then changed my date to 2038, and voila it started responding (no, don't ask me, I just read in online and was desperate enough to try it).  Of course, I don't believe that this actually helped, I would like to know what did help or if there is something specific one needs to do to fix this.
I have not been able to get rid of this problem:  Whenever I try to make a purchase it asks for my Apple ID password, dozens of times until I give up and press cancel, cancel, cancel.
Why does it do this?  I don't want to purchase anything because I can't keep typing in my password again and again.  I'm not exaggerating.
As I mentioned, I have tried to re-install iTunes, about 6 times, and I changed my password.  I still get the same problem.
Also, my iTunes still looks like the classical iTunes and doesn't have the new interface.
Has anyone experienced this and was able to fix it, or does anyone know what the problem is?  Please help, I'm at my wits end.

Because too much time has passed I can't edit this into the prior comment, but here is the info regarding reverting to iTunes 11.0.2 (assuming you do have a time machine backup) from https://discussions.apple.com/message/22057703#22057703
    W. Raider wrote:
    Repairing permissions doesn't fix it.
I reverted to the previous version, 11.0.2.
    1. Quit the new crash-prone iTunes.
    2. Delete the app.
    3. Restore v. 11.0.2 with Time Machine.
    4. In your iTunes folder look for a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries", find the latest one.
    5. In the iTunes folder itself you'll see "iTunes Library.itl", delete it (or compress it and save a copy for later just in case.
    6. Copy the newest .itl file in Previous iTunes Libraries to the iTunes folder and rename it "iTunes Library.itl".
    7. Launch the older version of iTunes.
My crashing has seemed to have ceased with a revert to an older version. I noticed today that the newer crashing iTunes had been launched for hours but not playing anything, when I played internet radio it crashed within 5mins, fed up I reverted to an older version.
Btw, a simpler way to do this is to revert to older iTunes app, then hold Option when it launches and choose an older library.
