My apple id was used to sign in...??

Since upgrading from snow leopard to lion (which I hate) I keep getting email messages on my MBP (with lion) and my Mac Pro desktop (SL). The messages read "your apple ID was used to sign in to facetime..." or "...to iCloud and iMessage on an iPad mini."
How do I stop this?

As léonie pointed out, you need to check whether or not this is really from Apple.

I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5S.  I have an iphone 4.  It then asks that I 'click here' to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I tell if the email is genuine?

Apple will not ask you to click a link in an email. They may tell you to log in to your account to reset your password. Go to https://appleid.apple.com and log in if you ever want to change any information in your profile (or your password). And do not click the link I just posted; instead enter it into a browser.
You can verify the devices assigned to your account by going to https://icloud.com/find (again, don't click it), where you can see a list of devices registered to your Apple ID.
As a general rule, you should never click a link in an email or forum post without verifying it first. You can see where it goes without clicking it in most email programs and browsers by hovering your mouse pointer over it. On an iPhone you can check where it goes by holding your finger on the link (rather than just tapping it).

  • Your Apple ID was used to sign in to FaceTime and iMessage on an iPad

Have users getting emails with subject your apple id was used to sign in to facetime and imessage on an ipad. It will then have another users name listed as
    Dear "that other person"
your apple id (another user than the Dear person above) was used to sign in to FaceTime and Imessage on an ipad.
Why would the first person be different than the next?

    fentonr,
This is what the link in the email displays:
    What do you think?
Delete the email, it is a phishing attempt.
Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email offers tips and provides a way to report it to Apple.

  • "Your Apple ID was used to sign in to iCloud on an iphone"

Why do I always get an e-mail saying "Your Apple ID was used to sign in to iCloud on an iPhone 5s"? I want to stop getting these e-mails please help!

I have the same question from 6plus Getting logged in notifications every time from icloud?

  • Your Apple ID was used to sign into Find My iPhone

I am running iOS 7.2 nn my IPAD 2 Every hour I get the subject an alert that my id was used to find my ipad.  It's my id my ipad so all is good except I didn't search for it How do I stop the messages?

    Hi Jason,
You will receive this message any time someone uses your username and password to access Find My iPhone or when they log into icloud from a browser or other iOS device. If you DID NOT log into these services at the times indicated in the e-mail you may want to change your password as it could mean that someone knows your account details and are logging in without you knowing. This feature can not be turned off at this time and was enabled as a security precaution after the nude celebrity photo fiasco. If you no longer wish to receive these notifications in your e-mail, the only current way of getting rid of them is to create a rule in your e-mail program to send the apple e-mail to spam or trash as soon as it's received in your inbox.

  • How to stop "Your Apple ID was used to sign in to iCloud"

I just started using icloud.com on my pc and every time I sign on it sends a message to my recovery email, not icloud mail, and it drives me crazy especially when I have to sign back in after not being used for a bit. How can I stop them? Or would I register or verify my computer to get them stopped? Always been an iphone user but I don't know much about all the systems and programs. Please help! Thank you

Check your Apple ID to make sure that your Primary email address is the one where you want the notifications sent. At this time, there is no way to "turn them off". This was a security measure that Apple instituted to alert you that your iCloud account has been accessed by a browser.
Check your Apple ID info here: Apple - My Apple ID

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

  • HT5622 Which Apple ID was used  to download an App?

HI, there is an app on my iMac that requires an update, App Store reminds me "all the time"!!!
Problem is I don't recall which Apple id was used to download it, and it won't let me update it as I get a msg to "sign in with aplle id used to download this app".
(I even think I may have downloaded this App on my old iMac...)
This app in particular is Smart Converter, an app to convert media files for use on different media, like iphone, ipad, imac, apple tv, etc...
Can't I just delete the App and download it again using my current Apple Id?
Thank you for any help with this.

OK I finally was able to delete it...had to do a restart to finlaize deletion, but the app was gone after. And have re-installed it with my current apple id.
    Thanks.

Can it be done behind the proxy, ie., download the patch and install ?
Our Unix server is Solaris. Please let us know.
    Thanks.

we got the update and this has been resolved as we have installed weblogic 10.

  • Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do?

Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do? Do you think this is just a way to get my credit card information?

It sounds like a phishing email. You can't "cancel" purchases. You've now given them your AppleID and password, so you should immediately change your password to something new and very secure.
Also watch out for suspicicious activity on your account.

  • I keep getting emails saying my Apple ID was used to purchase an pal when I didn't make the purchase

I Keep getting emails saying my Apple ID was used to purchase an app in the amount of $xx.  I did not make the purchase.  I keep dumping these emails into trash as it seems like spam but it's getting annoying.  Email appears to be coming from Apple.  Any ideas?

If you think it's spam move it to junk instead of trash. Read the article below and report one to Apple.
