My Apple TV is asking to connect to iTunes
I got my Apple TV 2 Christmases ago and it has never worked.
I used to be able to see the menu screen and it was connected to the wifi no problem.
However, I tried to download a software update when I first set it up and it crashed. I've never been able to get it working since. Have tried a hard reset a number of times and ended up unplugging it from the wall a few months ago.
Now I have turned it on and it says to connect to iTunes. But there is no connection to do this. Do I need to buy a special plug/connector? Or is there another way to fix it?

You can try borrowing one. These cables are common for Android, Kindle etc. users.
Here are some steps and notes to try:
MANY people are reporting they've had to try multiple micro USB cables to find one that works. I got one that worked from a neighbor.
For clarification, this needs to be a "micro" USB, not a "mini" USB
Some people have also reported they've had to try the Restore process more than once.
1. Unplug Apple TV and move it to your computer running latest version of iTunes.
2. Quit iTunes if running.
3. Plug micro USB cable to the back of the Apple TV.
4. Power the Apple TV using the AC cable.
5. iTunes shoud either launch itself (a good indication that the micro USB cable you're using is compatible), or launch iTunes.
6. Click Restore. Software will download and install (big file). -

Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

Ipad keeps asking to connect to itunes
hi
my ipad keeps asking me to connect to itunes, where it says its in recovery mode and must be restored.
the restore process keeps freezing midway (blue screens, glitches, etc..) which leaves me no choice but restart the process.
when it did finish the process and i got to the home screen and started setting it up (finally) it froze up, which left no choice but hard reset,
and again, it asks to connect to itunes..
there is no apple store in my country and the premium resellers here are pretty much useless..
is there any way fixing this so i'm not stuck with a couple hundred dollars worth of paper weight?

When you say "hard reset", does that mean holding both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears? If not, try that. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Resetting (rebooting) this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
Your problem does sound like your iPad may be defective. Look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
If there are none in your country, search the web for independent iPad repair centers near you. Using them may invalidate your warranty, but they should be able to help.

IOS8 update on iPhone5: asks to connect to iTunes :/
After a few attemps, i finally was able to download and run the update to iOS8 on my iphone 5.
HOWEVER: I am now stuck with the "connect cable to iTunes" screen and all I can do from there is restore.
Unfortunately I didn't backup my phone before and in the past this worked seamlessly...
How can I at least save some of my documents now?

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
1) Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

You need to get the cable to restore the ATV to factory settings, following the procedure here.
USB mini cables are available from many different sources; often even from local stores like CVS or Walgreens. They are inexpensive, as little as a few dollars online & around $5 from some local discount stores. -

you could try forcing it into recovery mode by turning it off, hold the home button and plug it into iTunes at the same time, keep holding the home button until iTunes says its detected a device that needs to be updated or restored. Then restore.
