My apple tv is finally working

Well folks, either the book wasn't totally clear or I miss read but I got it working. I found out to manually setup your wireless. Do not let it do it automatically. I stream mine so you have to leave your wireless up along with itunes. Connect to the store so it registers it. Once thats done, it should recognize it. I first went to syncing it so it would recognize it. Then backed off one level and go to connect to itunes to stream. Punch in the code and wholla, your up. This is so cool. Sorry for the bad posts in the other areas. REMEMBER: leave itunes up and leave your wireless up and running. Good luck.

Apparently all you have to do is sometime around 24 hours after installing the update, **** around enough on the AppleTV to crash it.
It'll stop responding to your input for about a minute, crash, restart, show the Apple logo all stretched out on the right side of the screen, flicker and center and re-align the logo to the center, and then boot up and drop you out to the "home screen"
...then suddenly purchases all work fine.
...don't ask me what the heck is going on. :\

Apple TV sync finally working

For what it's worth, I have finally figured out how to keep my ATV from crashing and rebooting during the sync process and also keep it in from disappearing from the device list in iTunes.
Setup: I have a fully Apple homogenous setup: iMac with Snow Leopard (10.6.1) running iTune 9.0.1 w/ethernet to Airport Extreme 802.11n (firmware 7.4.2) wireless stream to two 40GB ATVs (family room, living room). I use the ATV to stream everything with no media on either ATV.
I have previously tried everything recommended on these forums: reboots, reinstalls, trashed prefs, completely resetup wireless network, factory resets of ATVs, firmware upgrades/downgrades on Airport Extreme
My fix was simple;
1. Choose radio button to custom sync each ATV on the respective ATV device in iTunes. (For the record, I don't know if this has ANY bearing on the fix but it is the way mine is setup.)
2. Choose "Prevent Apple TV from syncing automatically" in the Apple TV pref pane within iTunes preferences.
After I checked this weeks ago, I have not lost either Apple TV from the device list and I can access all of my content from the ATV menus and no longer get the "There is no content available" message that i used to routinely get when I'd lose connections previously.
The ONLY pain that this setup has cost me is I need to manually kick off the sync process occasionally from within iTunes to ensure my library file on the ATVs accurately reflect my iTunes library file. Not bad compared to the constant frustration of never being able to use my ATV because it couldn't establish a connection or show the content from within iTunes.
This may help and it may seem obvious but it is the ONLY thing that has worked for me.

My set up is an Airport Extreme, iMac (Snow Leopard 10.6.1, iTunes 9.02), and Apple TV with the 3.0 update. No luck with Syncing it just hangs until the ATV crashes.
I'm using the work around mentioned at the top but it is really irritating given I'm using all Apple technology. By the way the Firewall is off on my iMac however I do have a large iTunes library 300Gigs. I just wonder if it's too big for the ATV to sync successfully.

Contrary to Apple's claims, Final Cut Express does work with Rosetta.

Using a rather simple hack, Final Cut Express works well actually. I was impressed that it wasn't as slow as the other apps I had tried in Rosetta. With some more RAM in my iMac, it should be tolerable until the Universal version is available.

Well, it works for a lot of people and it's now working for me. I suppose some features may not work but I haven't found them yet. It's running faster than it did on my G4 and I've already edited a short piece and printed it back to video.
In fact it even works on my iBook G3 600. That's FCP 4 on an iBook G3 600. I'm certainly not throwing any Naettress film effects on but I'm cutting video. And now I can take it on the road. Man, wish I'd have known this earlier.
Anyway, this will certainly allow me to wait until Apple gets the bugs worked out of the first UB versions of the Studio suite before dumping yet another $700 in the kitty. But, hey, it's Apple stuff and it's cool and I'll do it...yet again!

After hours of trying to fix- finally found simple solution !
Go to the main computer(s) where you ahve your itunes program. This applies to PC Win7 in my case.
Upper left hand corner under 'File' See drop down menu where it says " Home Sharing'. If on turn it off , then go right back and turn it on- you will have to sign in with Apple ID and password.
Then -this is the solution.
Go to your My computer on your PC - hit button for it to shows all your drives. Click on your main drive - usually 'C". It will show all the stuff on that drive.
Find where your Itunes program is - usually under "programs" Once you find Itunes , right click to get drop down menu- at bottom is "Properties" right click. another small windows comes up - click tab for sharing . If it says not shard - you will see a blue highlighed " Advanced Sharing" click that to folow instructions to enable sharing.
Do that for any program you want to share with Apple TV.
If they are not set to "Share" Apple Tv will not work for Home Sharing.
Once all programs involved with Ituenes etc are set to shared . Then go to Apple TV. back to Home Sharing and everything should show up.
Mine did and it was a simple fix.

If you want to use a new ID, you'll have to create a new iCloud account using the new ID, then migrate your existing icloud data to the new account. Start by saving any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll). Next, if you are syncing notes with iCloud, open them one at a time and email them to yourself so you can recreate them in the new account. Finally, if you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, turn off iCloud syncing in your iWork app settings.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Keep on My iPad when prompted. Then sign in with your new ID to create the new account, turn your iCloud data syncing back on and choose Merge to upload the data to the new account.
When you turn Mail to On you will create a new @icloud.com email account. You can go to icloud.com sign into your old account and set up email forwarding from your old iCloud email address to your new one if you wish

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

Apple tv 2 never works for me

I spent hours on the phone to apple support when I bought the apple tv 6 months ago and it never worked unless plugged into my modem in the office directly. It seems to be something to do with the wireless network.... however, everything else on our 4 computers works well wirelessly. We never saw one film on this device and gave up. My laptop downloads films in itunes easily.... but not on the apple tv box. I should add it does play u-tube and previews..
Is this something to do with being in Australia and having little support for our wireless protocols here ?

After 6 months still unused, I have just updated ( 2 updates since my last attempt to watch a film), and guess what... the apple TV does not work. I choose film and go through to the final stage where it says that it can not find my account / password ! It asks me to go to iforgot.apple etc... however, I have not forgotten my password... it just doesn't work.
Extremely frustrating as we'd really like to watch a film tonight and again are left to watch rubbish tv...
We expect something that is so simple ( just streams video) to work easily but it seems troubleshooting and alot of time investigating is required to get this little sucker to work. Have I got preferences set somewhere in Apple land that is stopping films to download?

I've had similar issues in the UK with my ATV. I am able to stream photos and music from any of the other devices around the house, via wi-fi to it, but movies have been hit and miss. We have had 3 that have stopped during playback, telling us it will be another 1 1/2 hrs before it has loaded. We have ended up trying the following:
Resetting the ATV
Restoring it to factory settings
Trying different wi-fi channels
Using Ethernet (it's about a foot away)
Downloading movies way in advance of watching them
Our wi-fi signal is full strength with an average rate of 9.8MB and I don't have issues with drop-outs or impaired performance on any other device as far as I know. I've had to resume movies by renting them again on our Virgin Media service and get refunds from the iTunes store...
It's been really frustrating, but speaking to experts in my local Apple store and finally, Applecare, it appears that I may have a rogue unit. I'm sending it back for them to check as it is still under warranty.
Maybe you have similar?

Yosemite Apple Mail search not working

Upgraded Mac mini from Mavericks to Yosemite.
Search within Apple mail is not working.
Come to think of it, search everywhere seems to be broken. It's as if Spotlight is not working too well.

FINALLY I found a way to fix this issue, at least for me:
Boot into SAFE mode: OS X Yosemite: Start up in safe mode
Run Applications -> Disk Utility
Click on your hard drive's volume
Click and run Repair Disk Permissions
Reboot
Voila! Fixed at last!
I also found that Alfred was hanging on startup, probably same reason as Alfred uses Spotlight in the background.
No more issues.
What's weird is that I finally bit the bullet and installed Yosemite on my 13" Retina MacBook Pro and had no spotlight issues whatsoever. Weird.

Yahoo Business Mail finally working again after 11 months

Thanks to Safari 4.0.4 Yahoo Business Mail is finally working after breaking over 11 months ago because of an Apple update. I'm glad I don't have to switch to a different browser just to check my email anymore but having to wait a year for a bugfix that Apple themselves caused and refused to fix was really annoying.

You need to be aware that this is a great way to ensure that people don't read your posts. When Apple Care Doesn't Work

Has anyone had problems getting something solved through Apple Care technical support? This is the second time for me with this computer. Last time, over a year ago, they finally paid to have it put in the shop. I've been dealing with them with this issue since November. Two regular level and two specialists have tried to help me. We've done all of the regular stuff, making more room on the hard drive, resetting the PRAM, taking stuff off and reinstalling the system software. The last was done on Friday. I'm still having problems. It totally freezes up at odd times. Sometimes there are black lines across the screen. It is now (since the reinstall) not recognizing my external hard drive and saying it can't open itunes. I'm so frustrated! Not only do my kids need the computer for homework, but I have a part-time home business and need to print shipping labels etc. as well as look up information related to my business. Any suggestions? I've had Macs almost since they came out and this really makes me want to get a PC. I realize they can have problems, too, but at least they are cheaper.

Unfortunately we don't have an Apple store here. I hear there may be one soon. There are various people who contract with Apple to do repairs, so maybe I need to go to one of those. The question, then, is, how do I get Apple to pay. Since my computer is still under Apple Care and since I've had extended problems with it, they should, right?

I didn't list all of the things that have been tried on it in the past four months...hard to remember. I had done the disk utility probably twice before. I did update to 10.4.11, as you suggested. How does this work with updating? Will Apple keep making updates to 10.4 even though they have 10. 5 out? Should I buy 10.5? It's been my feeling that since this particular computer has had so many problems I shouldn't spend any more money on it unless I am convinced it will continue working well (or begin working well) for a while.
I didn't understand all of your directions. I found the disk utility, although it wasn't listed under the finder menu bar. I" There is a Disk Utility application on your hard drive. Applications/Utilities.

An Installer window will open. Do not proceed with any installations. Instead, from the Menu Bar (very top of your screen), select Utilities/Startup. That will open the window where you can then select your MacintoshHD 10.4 icon and click Restart. Without doing this, your Mac doesn't know disk to boot from.

IPhoto and Apple ID won't work after system update

I've recently updated my MacBook Air to OS X v10.9.4. iPhoto won't work as i am currently using v9.2. I've tried downloading a later version but have been advised that my Apple ID will not work on this computer. NB. I have an iPhone but have not used the Apple ID on this - to my knowledge, or another Apple ID on my system. I'm a basic level user so any advice on this would be great.

My Apple TV does not work

My Apple TV no longer works. Nothing happens when I try to turn it on. No light appears on the TV unit. I have used the remote and it still is working. ANy Suggestions?

If you are sure it doesn't work and it is in warranty, take it back for an exchange.

My Apple TV does not work and has never worked. I replaced it twice and replaced my router and DSL modem but no luck. I spent hours on tech support with both apple and my ISPs with no luck. Any ideas? Is the Apple TV a donation to apple? I have had the device for 8 months but it will not work for longer than 15 minutes before it drops with network errors. All of my other devices work perfectly on the network including 2 iPads, laptops and an old wii. I love apple products and this is the first real disappointment I have had. The Apple TV seems like a major dud of a product.

Seems unlikely you have had two faulty replacements, and more likely that there may be some network compatibility issue or problem with reception in the location the AppleTV lies - anything close to it that might be interfering?
I am assuming you are connected via wifi - if you can try an ethernet connection to rule wifi issues out.
Could you try it at somone else's house maybe? If it worked there it would point to something specific at your location.
You could try replacing it again I guess or seeing if they can offer you credit or a refund.

APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX, just a black screen and "Netflix is loading" message appears. I can´t even see Netflix´s home page or set up my account. Netflix is working fine on all other devices at home, but in Apple TV.
I have tried the 8.8.8.8 DNS trick, the turn off procedure, the manual IP setting, but nothing....black screen still appears

It started working.....!!!!! (It seems someone back there is listening)
I "forced" an upgrade, I mean it showed "AppleTV is updated", nevertheless I re-started the system using the "return to original configurations" option. Then it updated again by itself to a newer version....and started working perfectly.
I have paired my apple wireless keyboard and it works fine, this way is easier to set up passwords or so (you can also do it with your remote).
TIPS:
I didn´t change any language or video quality configuration (scared to do so)
I changed to ethernet (cable) instead of wireless
My internet plan is 6 Megabytes (it was the same while it wasn't working)
