My apple tv is frozen on the movie menu

No matter what I do, the apple tv is frozen on this screen. I have tried resetting, unplugging it and restarting PC and wireless router

I am having the same issue, although my Apple TV screen saver comes on and when I try to use the remote, the light flashes yellow, not white. When I reboot it, it boots back to the same spot, which is the main menu, but "Yop Movies" under the Movies menu is highlighted.
Any advice?

Great, so now I have to airplay it by linking my computer to my Apple TV and then the movie has to buffer! So, all that time I spent downloading the HD video has to technically "download" again by buffering. The more I use Apple TV, the more I feel like this item was not created by Apple. I don't even use it for what I originally purchased it for. If I would have known that anytime I wanted to sync a movie from my computer to Apple TV by using airplay that it would have to buffer the movie, I would have never ever ever ever ever purchased this waste of time device. So the video has to technically play all the way through one time first so Apple TV can "remember" the movie to play it back in real time afterwards.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong that can be fixing my problem? I should have known that the Apple TV had so many things backwards when simple things like when you are using the remote and you reach the bottom of your list, in order to cycle back to the top of your list you have then press the directional buton back the other way rather than most modern day devices that will automatically cycle you back to the top or to the other side when you reached the bottom or end but keep on pressing the button. That **** annoys me when I am doing a search for a movie and have to type the name in manually and have to cycle back and forth to the letters. It makes me feel like I am using a rotary phone or something!

I was told by someone to try and purchase something directly from my Apple TV and that will help authorize my Apple TV. So I picked something that was free and it downloaded.
Then I went back to the Movie that would not work and it played just fine.
So it seemed to work. I will have to try it on other movies and TV shows later.

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this atwww.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

Movies rented on the Apple TV can only be watched on the Apple TV.

Previews and trailers do not contain 5.1 audio.
If you have recently moved your setup, you may have inadvertently changed some of the settings on your receiver. It certainly sounds as though it is unable to play the 5.1 audio from the Apple TV.

Front Row freezing in the movies menu

Hi, I got my new Macbook last week, last weekend I ran all the updates, including FR, and everything seemed to work fine. Last night trying was the first time I went into the "Shared" video folder in the FR menu, and after that while trying to exit FR froze up. It keeps doing the same thing, and it only happens in the Movies menu. Sometimes I'm able to exit after 20-30 seconds, sometimes I have to shut down the computer.
Is there any way to reset/reinstall FR just to get rid of the problem? Thanks!

i have the same problem on my new notebook (a mac book pro intel). I observed that it freezes everytime i'm not connected to the Web and i haven't turned off airport...
is it possible front row tries to download some information by internet, it doesn't recognize connection is not active and given that mac is not connected the research freeze the application ('till a timeout message is sent back..after looong time...)?
everytime the solution for me it was to wait long time (really long) or to turn off computer...

I have the exact same problem that you all are experiencing. Has anyone yet found a solution. This is very disappointing. I've gone from being a hardcore apple fanboy and long shareholder to returning to windows 8 and shorting the stock because almost all my apple gear has issues that arise within the first several years of ownership. Never was the case when I built or bought third party hardware. I hope apple solves this issue soon.

Do you mean it's pausing every 45 seconds? Intermittant issues are often a result of interference (check istumbler or netstumbler to verify)
I would also look at connection speed (speedtest.net) and make sure the DNS is set to your ISP (settings - network - configure DNS - automatic)

HT3823 The movie menu for iTunes extra won't play the extra videos.

I dl'ed a movie with iTunes extra videos. The base movie menu has a selection for EXTRAS and when I click on that, the screen goes to another background image complete with titles for the extra videos. When I mouse over the titles, they change color, but when I click on them, nothing happens. This is true of those that are pointing to videos. The one that points to a photo gallery does work and all the features on that page work as expected. So I am assuming that there is something amiss in the set up. Either the dl of the extra videos (which, according to iTunes did complete successfully) got disassociated with the main program, or the controlling page code (which is not accessable to the user) is not functioning as it was planned. Either way, is there any workaround that will give me proper operation of all the features I paid for?

After updating to ios7 the apple newsstand is frozen with the esquire magazine offer and it will not close to look at anything else.

After updating to the IOS7 does anyone else have the problem of a magazine selection offer in the iPad newsstand freezing on the screen so you can't move it and look at others for purchase? The magazine cover is just frozen on screen and I can't get it to change so I can scroll through other magazines. I didn't have this problem until I upgraded to IOS7.

I never said to look at the bottom of the screen for the open apps. It is different in iOS 7. When you double tap the home button, you should see the apps lining up across the screen like you see in this screen shot. Swipe UP. On the mini screen of the open app. Don't swipe up on the app icon, swipe up on the mini screen of the open app. When you swipe up on that, it closes the app.

Cancel the downloads and reset the iPad (Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts off. Ignor the off slider. Then turn the iPad back on). Go back to the Purchased screen in the I.tunes app and redownload. You may want to down load one at a time.
