My apple tv is not connecting!

Help!
My apple tv is not connecting and it simply says "was an error connecting to the wi-fi"
Thanks.

As others have posted regarding their ATV's, I took my ATV3 to the Apple store and they replaced it, no questions asked. I had been using the old unit with no problems for about two months. So far I have been using the new unit for five days with no problems, but I will keep an eye out, as it sounds like it could happen again. (If it does, I will reconnect to Ethernet to get it back into a good state, check the software version, swap out HDMI cables...)
On September 4 I noticed my ATV3 could not see any wireless networks. After some unsuccessful troubleshooting I took it to the Apple store on September 6. They quickly reproduced the problem in the store and replaced the black box, no questions asked. It has been working fine for five days.
I am not sure what broke on my first unit, hardware or software. And I am not sure if the new unit is running the same software as the old one.
Now, occasionally (once a day) the new unit will drop off the wifi, then quickly (less than a minute) reconnect. I am not sure if this is a problem with the ATV or my wifi network, I never noticed if the old unit did that.

  • TS2972 Apple TV is not connected to the network?

After installing the latest Apple TV firmware update 5.1.1 (5433), my Apple TV will not stream music from my iTunes over the wifi network. After 15 - 120 seconds of music, the streaming stops and I get the "Apple TV is not connected to the network" message. My iPhoto is still streaming pictures and I can go to Radio and stream content.
In the "About" screen. I have 4 out of 5 bars of signal, but the IP Address number and wi-fi network name drop out randomly. I have reset and restored several times to no avail. I have reset my router several times and powered down/restarted several times. The Genius Bar folks have no answers except purchase a new one.
The system has worked perfectly until the December update.
    Any answers?

This will be due to a network issue, which can come at any time
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
    If on wifi try Ethernet
To see a status of the network go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks

  • I am heading out to the US from NZ and I want to buy an Iphone, Will it work in NZ if I buy from Apple and do not connect to any network until back in NZ? Thanks

When you get to the States, if you will be in an area with an Apple store for a couple days, call and ask about reserving an unlocked iPhone, it takes a couple days to get it in the store from what I understand.
The current MBP 15" models are 2.2 and 2.4 GHz i7 machines.  There is a 17" with 2.5 GHz i7.
The difference, in addition to the slightly faster cpu, is:
    2.2 GHz - Radeon HD 6750 M with 512 MB VRAM
    2.4 GHz - Radeon HD 6770 M with 1 GB VRAM
Both have the same hard drive, 750 GB 5400 rpm, both have the same primary graphics - Intel 3000.
So the difference is in the discrete grapics processor, important for heavy video work, heavy gaming...but will drain the battery a lot faster.
You can get all the details on any Mac computer by going to http://www.everymac.com and click on the model and then scroll down to the exact machine of interest.

  • IMac 27" with Win7, Apple bluetooth keyboard not connected, STUCK.

I made a huge (and naive and stupid) mistake and now have an iMac stuck at the Win7 boot screen because it can not find the keyboard. I can't boot it back into OSX either because the keyboard OPT key is not recognized. Here is what happened:
My iMac 27" was working perfectly in dual boot mode and I could arbitrarily boot in either OS without problem since 3 months. Well, today, a friend called and said that her Apple keyboard is not recognized by Win7 on her iMac and she can not type. So I made sure that the battery is good and the green light is on, then I told her to go into the bluetooth device panel and remove the keyboard then re-pair it again. My thought was that I have done that with all bluetooth devices in Windows without problem, and Apple hardware and software is solid, so that got to work without a glitch, right. WRONG. She struggled to pair and connect the keyboard in Win7 to the point that I said I will remove my keyboard device and reconnect it so I can tell her the exact steps. Well, I learned the hard lesson with Apple stuffs myself. After removing the keyboard device, I could pair it, but not without difficulty. Then, however, does not connect, since I could not type and the device driver says that the device can not be started. Then I read messages in the Apple forum recommending to boot up in to OSX to remove the device there and boot it back into Win7 to pair it. OK. I used the mouse to shut down the Win7 and forgot that I have no keyboard now. I couldn't have used Boot Camp control panel to boot into OSX but I was so confident in Apple that I did not think about it. Now, I am stuck with a machine that boots into Windows without stopping and hangs at the first screen because the keyboard is missing. I inserted the OSX DVD in the hope that it would boot from the DVD but it does not. And the DVD is of course stuck in the drive. I am working at a remote location and do not have a usb keyboard or anything else.
Can anyone recommend a procedure to boot into OSX in my situation? Or can anyone tell me if I can pair and connect the keyboard in the BIOS? I googled but could not find anyone in a similar situation like mine. My friend can take her machine to Apple store for service, but I am in a country that has no Apple store.
Thank you very much for any hint.
    tom

I don't know but I installed my Windows 7 with Bootcamp without using a USB keyboard (cuz I don't have one). But you will at least need a USB mouse though. The moment it requires me to use keyboard input for various of information the bootcamp already downloaded required drivers and updates for my wireless keyboard to work. Make sure your wireless keyboard are on and try type something on it (it goes into some sort of sleep mode when you first start it).

  • New Apple TV will not connect to WiFI.

I have a brand new Apple TV. When I first set it up it connected to my Airport Extrement WiFi with no problem. A few hours later it will not connect to any WiFi. It does not see any WiFi available. I have rest it. Reset my WiFi. Nothing works.

    ZHall55,
Regarding the update issue: I have seen other users saying they cannot update with the ethernet cable but has worked when they have removed the cable and updated using WiFI, then reconnected the ethernet and it worked fine.  Try it and see.
    regards
    Jules

  • New Apple Tv will not connect with iPad Air 2

My new Apple TV will not recognize my iPad Air or Air 2, but will recognize all other devices in the house (iPhone 5c, 5s,  6, iPad mini, MacBook, etc).  What am I missing that the new Airs will not connect? All software is up to date. they are on same network.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • HT1595 My Apple TV 2 NOT connected to Ethernet, yet doesn't connect to wifi. HELP!

My Apple TV 2 is NOT connected through Ethernet, yet it keeps telling me: "To switch to wifi, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your Apple TV". Every time I restart  or reset, it randomly works for a while and then displays the same message again.

You need a remote to setup the network in order for the remote app to be recognized.

  • My apple tv saying not connected to itunes - yet it is

my apple tv shows all the icons of movies etc, plays some You tube stuff but not others.
SHows movies icons and pics, but when i try rent it shows rented, but when it i try play the movie it says not connected to the internet, yet it is
I have the latest software updated, i also tried restarting a couple of times in settings.
I have unplugged the device and reconnected
    none of this is working.
internet connection in my house is fine since all other wifi dependent devices work seamlessly

Do you have your Apple ID entered on your ATV and home sharing turned on both the computer (iTunes) and the ATV?

  • Apple TV is not connecting to Netflix and is acting buggy.

After the recent Vimeo update.  I can access iTunes Movies, TV Shows, etc. but I can't sign into iTunes, I get a message saying "Can't sign into iTunes because Apple TV can't get the network time."  Further AppleTV keeps flashing back and forth from being connected to Wifi and not connected, it's not our network, 5-10 other devices are working rock solid.
Any ideas if there is a known bug with the latest update?

Yes I've rebooted the device several times.  I'm not able to try Ethernet where it's located, but I would be surprised if it were interferrence because it has been working flawlessly in the same location for weeks.  Plus I can access other content in the device without issue, previews of movies, TV shows, etc. but I can't purchase them because it won't accept my Apple ID... throws an error message about the Time.  Can't access Youtube, Vimeo, Netflix, etc.
I'm a software developer and this feels like a buggy roll out of an update...

  • My apple tv is not connecting to the internet via ethernet

Got home tonight, have not been having problems before this, turned on my tv and started the aptv the same as always
and got the regular splash screen with the usual icons, netflix, Hulu etc.
Went to Hulu and it went to the usual menu screen, but from there it would not connect.
Tried to restart, at the end of the restart cycle the screen said it was trying ot set time and date.
Seems like it can not do this and does not connect to the internet.
I have it on a ethernet cable to a modem that works fine for my iPhone and my laptop via wifi, and
have not had any other problems, so not being able to watch tv is pretty frustrating.
Has Apple done something in preping for next weeks iOS7 launch and suspected aptv upgrades????
    What is going on????

I would test something else connected by ethernet like the laptop to make sure it was not a router thing
then I would connect the appletv by usb to the laptop and use itunes to restore the firmware if that was the issue
then I would try  bringing it to a friend or relatives place and test it there
if all else failed it would resturn it under warrenty

  • Apple TV does not connect to internet over the WiFi network

I recently bought an Apple TV and hooked it up to my Sony 46" HD LCD TV.
My desktop is an iMac running Mac OSX Leopard
I have created a WiFi network using the AirportExpress conected to an ADSL router.
The wireless network is working fine and I have access to internet through my iMac or other PC and Apple laptops.
Yesterday, I tried installing my new AppleTV following the little instruction book. My problem is that while the AppleTV detects my network (it shows up as the network) and on choosing this network connects to the network but gives a message that it has not connected to internet.
As a result while it synchronises with iTunes on my iMac, it fails to download from the internet directly. I am unable to upgrade to the latest version or play YouTube or images from my MobileMe account or log on directly to the iTune Store.
I have tried figuring out the problem but unable to do so. Thanks for your help.

I am having a similar (or identical) problem. I have a network running on my airport extreme. My imac and my girlfriend's laptop can connect to the internet without issue. The apple tv finds my network and reports that it connects, yet it doesn't seem to. I cannot access trailers or youtube, cannot update, and cannot play purchased content. I reset the apple TV, but that did not solve the problem. Should I reset the airport extreme?
