My apple TV will not let me purchase items direct from iTunes and I am logged in. why?
I have nmot been able to rent a movie from my apple TV. I am logged into iTunes. When I try and rent a movie it tells me that I need to varify payment on my computer. I have then rented a movie from my PC but this will not show up on my apple TV, and indeed the "rented Movie" option is not in my movies list. I have the latest version of softeware, 3.02, and have tried resharing the library. No Joy
Any ideas?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check you are using the correct location in the Apple TV store settings.
Try changing a few details and changing them back before updating when you verify in iTunes, also check that your details are correct (ie that you have filled the state field out properly and so on)
Rentals don't just show up on the Apple TV when you have rented then on your mac/PC,you need to transfer them.

I needed to go to my account page then to billing and re-verify my code, because i was accessing my account from a new device. once i did this everything is fine as the device is now authorized on my account. I downloaded a newer version of iTunes, 10.7. Now it will not let me purchase anything. I get an error code -42408. What does this mean and how do I fix? I have edited and revised all my names and account settings, checked payment. Quit, restarted. Help please, I'm going crazy without my iTunes. I'm on a MacBook Pro.

OK, I have fixed it here. Here's what I did:
quit iTunes
trashed ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
started iTunes, and authorised my account
Worked straight away after that ! -

What happens when you try to buy them, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?

What exactly happens when you try to buy something ? If you've already removed the card from your account then iTunes shouldn't be asking for any details about it.
If you log into into your account is the card still shown . On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link. If you are doing it on your phone then tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

Wanted to load an app onto my wife's ipad. BUT, the program keeps saying I've already purchsaed it and will not let me purchase again. I've tried everything I can think of. Now looking at wiping ipad competely and starting over but not sure that'll help. My apple TV will not let me use my gmail account to log in to Youtube. Is it because it is the same email account I use in my Apple ID?

I have an itouch that will not let me sign in to my itunes account. The email address that it is associated with is no longer valid. I keep entering the correct password but it says that it is incorrect. I can’t get a reset all of my credentials don’t work. - For the other problem you can try a reset. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- The next standard thing to do is to download/install a new app but you cant 'do that.
- Instead, try restoring from backup. -

Sounds like you can't update your device. You don't mention an error that it gives you. Take a look at both of these articles to troubleshoot.

If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.

From what you're describing appears to be Activation Lock, a security measure provided by Apple that makes it harder for people to use a lost or stolen device. You will need to enter the password for the Apple ID the device is prompting you for.
