I have an Aiport Extreme going into a cable modem. I have one hard wired iMac and several WiFi devices, including a MacBook Pro and an iPad running off the wireless network. Everything's been fine until...
As of last night, I am unable to pull up my professional web site or check my e-mail. Either the iMac directly connected to the APE (AirPort Extreme) can access it nor can my wireless devices on the wireless network. Every other site I draw up comes up just fine and I can access e-mail on other services (MobileMe for example). I have tried using Safari and FireFox on the Macs to test it also. Connection times out.
I have asked other people to pull up my web site and it comes up for them just fine every time. If I use my iPhone and turn off the wireless netowrk and just go over the 3G, my site and e-mail come in just fine.
I went into the APE and changed a few settings with no change. I then changed the mode from Shared Access to Bridge Mode and success, I was able to access my web site and e-mail again. However, this disables the network and any Internet sharing. Not viable. When I turn on the sharing again, the same problem happens. Right back where I was.
I have tried ordering the router to renew the lease...no joy. I'm at a loss. When I PING my web site address, I get " Request timeout for icmp_seq # ". Any idea what to do?

Just had a thought....was trying to rememberif anything changed last night. I think I installed a mac OS X Security update. That's about the time the trouble started. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi BD Aqua, yeah it's okay just a false alarm, i changed my internet service provider to BE broadband a few days ago and they didn't tell me that i had to change the outgoing mail server smtp settings in order for emails to go out, something to do with dynamic ip address, and how they block port 25 for dynamic users? or something. anyway, entered the new settings and all seems tickity boo now.

My ipadmini is lagging in touch response. Sometimes the touch will just not work but other times it works fine. I am in Pakistan and have no authorised dealer here to whom i can take it. Also at times if i press a letter once it types it multiple times.

Standard troubleshooting...
1. Remove apps from the Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
2. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
3. Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
4. Restore with your backup.
5. Restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it. You may need to try DFU mode (Google for it).
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Dreamweaver CC won't launch. All other CC apps work fine.

I have been through the forum logs and have seen the notes about reinstalling Dreamweaver and installing Java. I have done both (uninstalled Dreamweaver, reinstalled/downloaded Dreamweaver CC from iCloud. I have downloaded and installed Java. Rebooted my machine. The icon bounces longer, but never gets to the splash screen.
I am running OS X 10.9.2 (Maverick) on a 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac with 16GB of ram.

I just spent over an hour on the phone with Adobe's support. It is finally resolve. It was a permissions issue. Basically, what the tech had to do was create a "root user" account, sign out of my account, sign into root user, uninstall Dreamweaver, then re-install Dreamweaver in the root user account. Since the root user account has full permissions, it worked. I definitely would not have figured that out without calling support and having a rep walk me through it. I didn't come across this solution on any forums I searched.
I also had a duplicate Macintosh HD drive apparently in the root user account that caused some confusion with install, so he had to pull that out onto the desktop also to avoid confusion with the install, but my guess is that wont be an issue for others.
If you can't solve it on your own, try calling the same # I called: 800-833-6687 Mon-Fri 5am-7pm PST.

ITunes 10.7 won't send 5.1 audio out, all other apps/games work

I'm trying to get the videos I bought on iTunes 10 to play in 5.1 out of iTunes on Windows 7. The videos have Stereo and 5.1, as per their "Get Info". PowerDVD, WoW, all other apps and games playback 5.1 audio on my system perfectly, as do 5.1 videos using VLC.
When playing an iTunes video with stereo and 5.1 audio, stereo plays fine, 5.1 is silent when I switch to it.
I read that Quicktime's preferences need to be set. I did that. 5.1 audio, 16-bit, 48k. Still nothing.
The audio device is SoundMAX which came with my Asus P5E. Drivers are updated.
The same thing happens when setting my audio device to my Logitech G35 5.1 headphones.
This seems to be more of a Quicktime/iTunes problem than a driver problem since everything else works.
Or, does iTunes/Quicktime Player simply not work with 5.1 properly on Windows?
Any help would be appreciated.

After your question I was sure I didn't have a smart card service and searched for ways to reinstall it. I also was advised by my computer literate brother to recheck Windows Updates for Smart Card services. I found the (long ago hidden by me) Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider Package (KB909520) and ran that update. Then I retried the process I found at a web site named lazybit. The specific URL for that one is

I'm honestly not sure which piece did what but I now have a service named Smart Card Helper, and iTunes opens just fine. Good enough for me - thanks again!!

I am having some difficulty accessing the internet with Firefox on one of my PC computers. I normally use Mozilla Firefox as my web browser and google is my homepage and gmail is my email system. The operating system is Windows 7. For over a year this system worked perfectly but a few days ago it stopped working. When I launch Firefox now I get the message that that website (www.google.com) is unavailable. In fact, I can’t access any website and I am blocked from the internet entirely within Firefox. My internet connection is fine because Internet Explorer works fine. I can access google and any other website within that web browser. I have investigated all the security issue I can manage and found no smoking gun. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox to no avail. Is Windows 7 compromising the effectiveness of Firefox? Any suggestions or other assistance you can offer would be appreciated.

I've spent over 3 hours on the phone/chatting to online support and none of it seemed to help as it all revolved around resetting emails etc but can't do any of it without my access to my old email. Now my phone won't take cloud because they advised to set up new apple ID and use that, but can't sign out of old one completely. Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
At this point I would suggest completely uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in the correct order and installing iTunes fresh again from the apple website. Please use the following article as reference.

MacBook won't let me type anything at all. It's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snowleopard

You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was written for Power PC Macs with code added to allow it to run on Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It can only run on the Late 2008 through Mid 2010 MacBooks. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
