My Apple USB Superdrive can't read CD, CD is un-ejectable (not shown in Finder). Any ideas?

After putting in a picture-CD nothing happened. Drive is running like normal, but the CD is not shown in the Finder-Menue. Therefor there is no eject-button or any possibility to throw the CD out.
Is there any (mechanical( possibility? Thanks for any inputs. :-)

  • If i buy an apple usb superdrive can i play blu-rea discs

Just a thought I had a look on line but it would seem that you need extra software to play blu-rea. Is this correct ?

Apple superdrive does not ply Blu-ray discs.
There are third party Blu-ray usb players available.
Some come with software and others not. If that is case, you have to buy software separately.
    Best.

  • HT2397 Is region code is recorded in the DVD drive? So, if I have two Apple USB SuperDrive, I can have two separate region code?

If the region code is recorded in the DVD drive, then I can purchase two Apple USB SuperDrive to play different region DVD ?

    To Apple Discussions!
It has been reported that VLC overrides the 5 region code option. You will need to read their documention on their website. Otherwise................
You can change the computers region "only 5 times". Then it's locked in the 5th version/region (until you erase your HD & start all over.).

  • Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

Does the new iMac coming in December have a dvd drive? If not can you use the Apple USB SuperDrive?

The soon to be released new iMacs don't have a DVD drive. I don't believe that Apple have updated their site to say their USB drive will work, but the expectation is that it will.
I watched the keynote and when Phil Schiller was presenting the new models I think he mentioned something about it working and he had one on the desk next to the iMac.
I'm going to check the keynote if it's still up and I'll update my post if I'm wrong.

  • HT2801 can i use the Apple USB SuperDrive to upgrade my OS from 10.5 t0 10.6?

The optical drive on my Macbook Pro (Build 9L31a) broke a couple of years ago and I have thus far managed to get around it. Now that iCloud is about to reign down on my OS 10.5, I need to upgrade via disk. Will the new Apple USB SuperDrive do the trick or do I have to have the internal drive replaced. Is there another drive out there that would be better than the SuperDrive?
    Thanks!

Apple's USB drive won't work with your computer at all.

  • Can you use a Apple USB Superdrive with Windows

    Hello,
I frequently finding myself wanting to use my Apple USB Superdrive with my work computer but havent had any luck being able to load CDs to play or burn.
If anybody has a solution or information please advise.
Windows XP Pro, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
    Thanks,
    Will

It should work, as long as the drive is getting sufficient power.  It is possible that your Windows PC is not providing enough power through the USB port.

  • How do I install an apple usb SuperDrive with my macbook that already has a superdrive but doesnt work?

I bought a macbook off of a friend but the CD drive to the computer doesnt work and was broke awhile ago. I needed to install some software onto this computer so I bought the Apple USB SuperDrive thinking it would work, but later finding out that it is only compatible with macs that dont have a superdrive built in. An Apple support technician told me that it could be done through a process, but she couldn't help me with. So it would be greatly appreciated if someone can help me with this problem. Thank You!

There is some useful information here about the process mentioned:

Of course you need to be very careful with any use of Terminal.

  • I've bought an Apple USB drive, can I use this to load DVD's onto my computer so I only need to take the laptop on holiday with me rather than the USB drive and dvd's?

I've bought one of the Apple USB Superdrives thinking I could use it to load DVD's and save them onto my macbook pro, can anyone confirm if I can or can't do this?
If I can how do I do it?

Ok so any chance you could explain to me exactly what I need to do as I am absolutely clueless! I have a pile of DVD's, the USB superdrive and I've just downloaded the Handbrake software. When I put the DVD into the superdrive it starts playing, how do I get the series onto my computer?
If you haven't done this before, there are a few things you need to know. Sorry to say that this is not yet a simple, straightforward process like it is for music CDs. It helps to be a little geeky. You will need to make some choice about file format and file size if there is any chance that the imported discs will take up more space than you have available on your hard drive. If you are willing to learn, you should read the Handbrake User Guide and other articles on the Web about importing DVDs.
If you think this is starting to look complicated and you don't have time to figure it out before the trip, it might be easier to just bring the discs.
I have found that Handbrake can't import every disc. I think Mac DVD Ripper Pro is a much easier program to use, and it will import almost any DVD pretty reliably, but it costs money. For me it is worth it.
No matter which way you do it, it is going to take a lot of time to import a bunch of discs. It is going to take a lot more time than importing music CDs.

  • HT2499 I cant get my external Apple USB SuperDrive to recognize any of my dvds?

I cant get my external Apple USB SuperDrive to recognize any of my dvds. It only recognizes installation cds. Is there something I can do or is the device faulty?

Here are some troubleshooting ideas. The DVD read portion of the Superdrive may have failed. The CD uses a different reader based on what I was told by an Apple Store Genius when mine failed.

If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer and Superdrive tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing.

  • Does the apple usb superdrive work with an imac?

I have a new iMac and was surprised I couldn't burn a cd because there is no disc drive! Can the Apple USB Superdrive be used with the iMac? The product details do not mention compatability with an iMac, only MacBook Pro & Mac Mini.

According to http://www.apple.com/mac/compare/ it's compatible wtih the new iMacs.

  • New iMac 27"  and just plugged in a Apple USB superdrive and get message, "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled."  I am trying to load Office mac2011  what to do?

If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive.

  • Apple USB SuperDrive problem

I purchased an Apple USB SuperDrive a few months ago with a new iMac desktop. The SuperDrive was working fine. Now suddenly it has begun cutting out/dropping out on songs when I transfer them from commercial CDs to iTunes. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. I've been trying to burn CD's to my superdrive. Everything fine up until the update to 10.9.3. I'm assuming no fix is available due to Apple's customary silence when a problem emerges ...

  • HT202665 What are the best Discs to use with my Apple USB SuperDrive?

    HHi,
i have an Apple USB SuperDrive, would like to know which are the best Blank Discs to use please, I live in the United Kimgdom

I don't use so many disks nowadays but when we do, I really only try to make sure they are a recognised brand (Phillips, Maxwell, TDK etc etc), technology has moved on from having to worry about which you use. I would avoid brands you've never heard of though.
