MY apps will not update

no matter how big the update is, the app doesnt update. I enter in my password to update the app, then it says installing for about 2 seconds then it stops and takes you back to the updates screen and the app is still there

Any restrictions enabled in Settings/General/restrictions? If yes, disable all of them, then try again.

  • Apps will not update on iPhone 4

My apps will not update on my phone.  I've turned my phone off and let it set and tried to update after and it didn't work.  I've tried backing up and syncing and it didnt work either.  I've tried to update the apps individually instead of all at once and I get a message such "name of the app is not available at this time" , but it updated on my iPad just fine.  I can't use my apps on my phone as it acts like they are currently updating.  It's been this way for three days.  Any ideas on how to correct or what caused it?

I had this problem, I had 12 apps that would just not update via cell data or wireless!!!
To solve I just updated all the apps in itunes on my mac (or home pc) and then when i connected my iphone it just updated them the first time with the sync!!

Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Apps will not update in iTunes

Recently bought new laptop w/Windows 7 (Win7 required for work.)  Downloaded/installed latest ver of iTunes to sync my iPhone 4S and iPad. I can update apps in iTunes but they will not update on devices during sync. On the device menu in iTunes I can click the Update radio button and it will change to "Will Update" but when sync is started it changes back to "Update".  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Did you copy the ENTIRE iTunes library from the old computer to the new computer?  If not, the link between the library and device is broken.

  • My apps will not update on my iPad. I tried restarting but no success. What do I do now?

iPad will not update apps. I tried signing out of iTunes and restarting iPad but no success. What can I do to resolve this problem?

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset and try again.
Reset... No Data or Settings will be lost...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • IPad Air Apps will not update after ios8.0.2

I Now have 17 apps that will not update after I updated my iPad Air to 8.0.2. What gives?  Some apps are stuck in mid update, so i can't use them. My wifi works. I have restored my iPad twice using iTunes. I have plenty of empty storage. I have reset my iPad. I'm out of ideas.

I have been having the same problem but was able to get around it by updating the apps in iTunes on my Mac then syncing my iPad to iTunes on my Mac. Certainly not an elegant solution but until Apple gets this fixed it is the only way I have found to get updated Apps.

  • My iPhone 5 native weather app will not update locally

I have an iPhone 5 my local weather will not update via the default native weather app!!! Now If I enable wi-fi it will update via my home network. However, once I turn off wi-fi it will not update my local weather BUT GUESS WHAT CUPERTINO WILL UPDATE EVERY TIME!!!
    Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi PLEASE!!!!

Location Services enabled in general, and in particular for the Weather app? Mine needed that in order to discover where I live, but having done that and establishing said location as its home, will update thru whatever it finds up, Wi-Fi or cellular.
However and after participating in several other threads regarding Weather, it would seem that different buyers get a different Weather app instead of a single standard one, maybe depending upon carrier whim. Mine's main screen looks like this:

  • Apps will not update since ios5 on 4s

Existing apps are not updating. Verizon unsuccessful as well. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Re-sign in the phone to your iTunes Store account:
Settings > Store > tap ID > sign out (even if it appears correct) > sign in with correct ID and billing info > restart phone.

  • Apps will not update on iPhone4 after OS7 update

I have an iphone 4, and finally updated to OS7. Now no apps will update, and some newsstand items will not work at all. I tap "update", or the download-from-cloud symbol, the circle spins, then turns into a fixed circle with a square in teh center, then after a while I tap that, and "update" comes back.

The circle is the app downloading and the square in the circle is a "stop" button. Every time you hit it, you are stopping the download, which is why "update" re-appears. This time, hit update, then wait patiently. Just because the circle completes, doesn't mean that the app is done updating. If you want to see its progress, hit "update" then the home button. The icon on the home screen will have a pie chart that will show you when the app is ACTUALLY done updating.

  • Since updating to ios 8.1.1  Apps will not update. circle goes round and round

    Why cant i update apps.

Probably apps running in the background are causing this, sometimes Mail get's stuck connecting to the mail server, or some social media app like Facebook can also be a reason for prolonged background activity.
Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, setting it up as new device would be the next step:
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • TS1702 Some Apps will not update

Most apps will update ok.  Although 3 others have in the pet - over the last 7 days they start to but then freeze
They are iTunes U , Dropbox and clipboard
    Can anyone help??
    Please

And you supplied no details whatsoever!
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

  • My apps will not update, keeps asking for password

I am trying to go on and update my apps. It did not recognize my password, I reset my password and updating my system to the iOS 7, once it had restarted I went back to my apps it prompted me to enter my password. I did, and the update circles but does nothing then says update again. I don't know what else to do. Help!

    Hello J9Coutts,
The steps below can help get your iCloud account updated on your device.
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

  • IOS6  Apps will not update

Starting today, I am having troubles updating/installing apps.
Through the App Store>>Updates I will select Update All, but the update/download process just hangs in the "Installing" mode.
    I've tried the following:
    1. Delete app and try to reinstall.
    2. Sync with iTunes
    3. Re-boot iPhone and repeat.
    Nothing seems to work.

The solution that worked for me was to identify the apps that were stuck updating, and then find them on my iPhone.  (You can't search for them, you have to find their icon on your iPhone's desktop.)  Then I deleted those apps.  Then I went back to the App store, and they downloaded/updated like normal.  I did the same thing for the same problem on my iPad, and that also worked.
    Best of luck to everyone.
