My ATV is stuck in a reset loop.

We rented a move last night and it was freezing, so I did a reset of the apple tv using the remote.  After the reset, it got stuck in a reset loop.  It goes through the spinning wheel, shows the menu screen for a moment, and then resets to the spinning wheel again.  I've tried to reset ATV with remote, unplug system, reset modem and nothing works.  Please help!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Ipod stuck in a reset loop.

My Ipod classic 120gb is stuck in a reset loop. I plug it in and the computer detects it and it immediately resets itself. I can't do a restore on it, it isn't on long enough to start the process. I have tried the diagnostic mode but I only get as far as the firewire detect which I cannot perform because my laptop isnt equipped with a firewire port. I can't do anything that needs the internet, as I am currently on a deployment and the internet we have access to we arent allow to connect anything to or download anything. Is there anything I can do as I dont come home until next year and thats a long time to go without portable music. I appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide.

    I'm not guaranteeing anything but...
    1. hold the center button of the iPod and the menu at the same time-then wait for the Apple logo to disappear and reappear keep the center button depressed and do not let go for the next step.
    2. Immediately after step one keep the center button depressed and push the play/pause button until the disk mode appears.
    3. Verify disk in disk utility (if you are using a Mac).
    4. If the disk checks out OK it's most likely an [software] issue that will require a full restore of the iPod or a trip to the Genius Bar. Being that you can't do either for a while you're probably stuck with a brick for a while.
I have heard that there is a way to restore from a backup, ala iPhone, but I'm not sure of how to go about that. It could be a false rumor.

    Hello,

I believe that I have figured out why you are experiencing this issue, which is that we don’t show a telephone number currently attached to your account.  Once I’ve entered this in, I will request a password reset email be sent out to the email address on your BestBuy.com account.  Hopefully this should correct the issue for you, but if not, please let me know!

  • Red off button stuck, phone in reset loop.

I sold my z2 to a friend, and when he has tried to insert his new sim has forced the red reset/ off button down too hard, and its stuck. So now when the phone has any charge it is stuck in the cycle of reseting itself, vibrating 3 times and the sony logo comes up, and it just keeps doing this. Are there any tips on unsticking the reset button.
    Cheers

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I'm sorry to hear that. But if it's not possible to release the button by pressing it again, it sounds more like a hardware issue that needs to be examined and repaired by a technician at an authorized service center. You can always try to perform a software repair via PC Companion to exclude software related problems:
    http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/
In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.
If this software repair does not help, I suggest that you contact your local support team for further information about how to proceed with this in the best possible way:

  • Reset Loop

I have a problem. I have a first generation, 160GB iPod Classic, the first one to have the anodized aluminium cover. The reason I have a 160GB iPod is because I have a large collection of music, video , podcasts and other audio stuff that I like to have in my pocket. I have an 32Gb iPhone but you can’t come close to getting enough stuff on there. When I’m at work and I need something to listen to to help me concentrate or when I’m traveling and I need to while away the long hours, I have TV shows to watch or full length movies, ripped from my DVD collection.
The problem I have is that at the moment I have an iPod Classic but it doesn’t really work. I have had two other iPods in the past, a 60GB iPod photo and an 80GB 5G. The 80GB 5G is still in use on an almost daily basis. It lives in the car where it plugs into the car stereo and I use it, sync it and have never had any issues with it.
My tale of woe starts earlier in the year. I used to have a PC, which I ran iTunes on. I’ve being building my current iTunes library for around 5 or six years. I work on a system where checked songs are for the iPod and the rest don’t get transferred using the ‘Sync only checked songs and videos’ option on the summary page of iTunes. This way I get to within 5 to 10 GB of the capacity of the 160GB iPod. It’s nearly full, but that’s the reason I have a large capacity device. Anyway, earlier in the year I upgraded to iTunes 8 and iPod classic software 1.1.2. Since that day I have not been able to perform a full sync with my iPod classic. The symptoms were the usual ones that people seem to be experiencing, iPod gets stuck in a reset loop, impossible to do anything with it. You need to set it into disk mode and restore it through iTunes. It was under warranty when it first stated acting up so I made an appointment at the Genius bar at the Apple store in Cambridge, UK, and took it in. The very helpful Genius said it was a hardware fault and it was replaced. Imagine my dismay when I tried to re sync the new one and exactly the same thing happened.
I then had several lengthy phone calls with staff on the help desk at Apple where they tried and diagnose the problem. The things I tried to get it to work are roughly as follows: the five ‘R’ as recommend by Apple, deleting the library file to ensure that this is not corrupt and allowing iTunes to rebuild it for me, deleting the iPod software from the PC so that iTunes is forced to download a new one from the server in case the PC copy has been corrupted. All of these failed to work. I was then told that it was a corrupted file within the iTunes library. I then start to re-load my music etc, by file type. I manage to get AAC, Apple lossless and on and when I try to get MP3 on, it stops working. I then isolate and make a copy of all the MP3 files in the iTunes directory and run a PC MP3 integrity checking program to find the offending file. All files check out OK. Load all the files back on, and it stops working and goes into the resetting loop.
I then make a set of play list with all my MP3 files broken down alphabetically by artist name and load them on one at a time to see which one contains the broken file. Low and behold I get everything on and it works. Great, I think, and set it to perform a full sync. After syncing the iPod stops working again and goes into the resetting loop. I then restore it for what must be approaching the 30th time and do this sync by playlist method, loading on playlist at a time and manage to get the whole thing working. Great a working iPod again.
By this time I been using iTunes 8 on my 2 year old laptop for a while. I must have done at least one restore and complete re sync of around 140GB of data on an almost daily basis whilst trying to solve the issue. It’s running really slow on the PC and I’m getting really fed up. I decide that to help make sure I remove and PC issues from the process I buy a Mac.
Just after the iMacs were refreshed early 2009, I become the proud owner of a 24inch iMac and I love it. I assume that this will be the end of my worries. It wasn’t. After about a weeks effort I manage to get all my playlists, ratings and files into iTunes on the Mac. This was not a trivial task. Apple don’t publicize how hard this is to do when coming from a PC, but that’s another tale.
I have everything in place to sync my iPod. A completely new library on a completely new machine. I reformat the iPod for Mac as the Mac iTunes and Windows iPod combination is not supported by Apple, and I’m not taking any chances. I go to perform a full sync and the iPod enters the resetting loop the first time I do this. I am stunned. I’ve just shelled out £1500 on the Mac and have a £220 iPod that won’t do the one task that they are supposed to do.
Disappointed I go back to the sync buy playlist method and manage to get back to where I was, with a working iPod.
I sync the iPod 3 or 4 times a week as I download a lot of podcasts and like to have the latest ones on the IPod ready to listen to. On at least one occasion after this the iPod goes into the resetting loop and I have to restore and re-sync everything.
Before all this the iPod was prone to rest itself periodically, something that the various firmware versions Apple released didn’t seem to cure. Each time it resets, which is at least once a week. I sit with my fingers crossed hoping that it won’t go into a loop and I’ll have to spend my evening sorting it out again. Anything can set it off. Sometimes it's selecting a file to play, sometimes I'm not even touching it and it resets.
Every time I load a new release of iTunes on, there’s always a fear that it will upset the delicate balance of iTunes and iPod and it will go back into the resetting loop. Along came iTunes 9 and all was well, for a couple of weeks at least. I synced that iPod after a week away traveling in Europe and we were back to the old days and the resetting loop. The difference is this time I can’t seem to fix it.
I’ve tried everything. I have 4 playlists that I use to make sure all the files I want are on the iPod, before I start loading the large number of smart and ‘dumb’ playlist that a library that has existed in one form or another for around 5 year builds up. I can load the AAC only playlist, all my videos and TV shows and podcasts and loading the MP3 playlist will kill it. I can load all the AAC and MP3 files and the videos and TV shows will kill it. I can load all the podcasts, video and MP3 playlists and the AAC files will kill it. In other words I don’t think it’s any particular group of files that does it, it’s all of them together. I have tried so many different combinations of the large number of playlists I have, loading one at a time and ejecting and checking each time only to find that everything is fine until a one particular list goes on and it goes into the loop. I’ve tried every possible combination I can think of. With music video, without music video, with video podcasts, without video podcasts. I have a playlist folder with large numbers of smart playlists that I can filter out or in any particular combination of files. Somewhere during the process it will go, or if I’m really lucky and everything looks fine and I can play a song and all is well. The next day I will navigate to another song, podcast or video and it’s usually the first one I try and go to and, bang, were back in the loop and the iPod goes into my bag ready for another night sat in front of the Mac playing playlist Russian roulette with my iPod. I have spent countless hours both with my old PC and my lovely new Mac restoring and resetting the iPod only for it to go into the loop either during the syncing or very shortly afterwards. either way the iPod is not doing what i bought for it to do.
Here are the things I think are not the causes of the problem.
-A corrupted file. I regualrly use files on my iPod 5G and iPhone and have never had any issue.
-A corrupted iTunes library, for the same reason above. Plus the machine move from PC to Mac.
-A duff hard drive in the iPod. I’ve done both PC and Mac disc checks on the drive and it comes up fine.
-A sticking lock button on the iPod. I’ve run the iPods in built diagnostic around 10 times and nothing is ever shown up as faulty.
-Corrupted iPod firmware on Mac or PC, i’ve deleted local copies on both to force it to get one from the Apple server.
-Software versions. I’m running the latest versions of iTunes and iPod firmware.
I can tell you what I think it is. I have an iTunes library of around 30,000 items and an index file of around 16MB. Even though the iPod has a capacity of 160GB, or slightly smaller when formatted, it can’t take as large number of playlists or files. In other words, it’s a bug in the iPod software.
Understandably I’m a bit annoyed about this. I paid good money fro the iPod and there’s nothing that says that it won’t work with libraries like mine. The whole point it that I have a big library so I have a bit iPod. If I could have bought a bigger capacity one then I would have done.
So there we have it. I have an iPod that cost me £220 around 18 months ago that doesn’t seem to do the one basic thing that it was designed to do and more importantly do the thing I bought it to do. What choices do I have ? I must have already tried almost everything I can do to get it working. Do I have to go out and buy the new, recently updated 160GB classic ? I don't really want to as that’s another £180 and the one I have is seemingly fine, but unable to fulfill it’s basic function.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has any suggestions.
P.S. I love Apple products. I don’t want to give the impression that I dislike them, I have 3 iPods, bought the original iPhone when it came out and have just upgraded to the new 3GS. I bought an iMac on the strength of the positive experience that I had with these other products. I’m going to buy a MacBook so I can take a Mac with me when I travel. The only issue I have is with the iPod classic that just doesn’t do what it should do and I can’t seem to fix it.

You may be on the right track... Ages ago I found my iPod became unstable as I added more complex smart playlists to it. Sometimes everything would be OK until a played a game when the iPod might reset on entry or exit from the game. I'd rebuild my iPod starting with a smart playlist for my iPod Music that I'd cap at 10Gb, then 20gb, then 30Gb, etc., syncing the music in stages until it was all back on the iPod. I'd then put back other content, podcasts, games, videos etc. After adding each group of content I'd test things and all would seem well. The last thing to add would be the various playlists. Poof! Something would give. I never did try to pin it down precisely, just trimmed down the number of the playlists I put on & their complexity. For example I try to avoid List A depends on List B depends on List C. It may be a function of the time it takes to reprocess all live updating playlists or the total size of them all. Who knows? I just found I could make it work reliably by keeping things simple...

  • 80G Classic Ipod Stuck in Reset Loop, Please Help

    Hello,
My Ipod (80G classic) is stuck in the continuous reset loop showing only the apple logo. I have tried restoring it numerous times, to no avail. I have also tried uninstalling itunes and re-installing it, different versions also, this does not work either.
This is very frustrating, and I am finding no help on the apple site. Any suggestions?

I'm not clear if you've actually managed to get iTunes to restore the iPod yet. These steps should make it possible. Hold Menu+Select for about 6 seconds until the iPod resets, then hold Menu+Play as soon as the Apple logo appears, again for about 6 seconds to put the machine in disk mode. Connect the iPod to your computer, closing iTunes if it opens. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors*. Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive. Once these have been fixed you should be able to start iTunes and complete the restore process. I'd suggest you don't rush to put back all your music in one go. Test that the iPod works with a smaller playlist first.

  • Igxprd 32, device driver stuck in an infinite loop

Just attempted to reset a hard drive on our T61 to its factory settings (Windows XP) using the "Recovery CD Set"  (rescue and recovery cd, supplemental product recover cd, and 6 product recovery cd's).  During the final step, the computer reboots itself; however, Windows can't load.  I keep getting an error on a small blue screen, referencing a problem with "igxprd32" and that the device driver got stuck in an infinite loop.  How can I fix this issue.  (Product ID 6465CT0)  Thank you!

Kindly try to boot the system into Safe mode and then uninstall the display driver.
After this you should able too boot the system into normal mode. Download the latest driver from lenovo website

  • Inifinite reset loop, HELP!

I tried to do an erase of all data in the Settings so I could re-install my contacts properly (I accidentally downloaded all my Google contacts, which seemed to add everyone who's ever emailed me), and now the phone is stuck in an infinite loop of restarts and won't show up in my iTunes.
The Apple logo pops up and eventually the rotating circle image comes up, but it doesn't rotate. It just sort of fades into view very slowly and becomes very clearly visible, and then restarts again, shutting off and then popping up with the Apple logo and ultimately starting over again. Each cycle takes about 15 minutes. Does anyone know of another way to reset the iPhone so I can let iTunes recognize it and reinstall everything?

Hi, I also having the same prob. have you fixed your problem? if let me know what you did.
    thanks

  • Ipod stuck in start-up loop

So after plugging my ipod into a docking ipod speaker system, my ipod froze. I was able to reset it by holding down the select and menu buttons. But, the next time I turned my ipod on it got stuck in this starting loop. When it tries to start-up it just can't quite make it, and returns to the apple logo and tries again. Then it stops, and shows a battery saying, "Please wait, Very low battery". It isn't getting far enough to be recognized in my itunes, and I can't restore it.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Airport Express Stuck in a Restart Loop

I have an Airport Extreme that is stuck in a restart loop. I had tried to set it up to extend an Airport Extremes wireless network but it didn't work. Now the Express restarts as soon as it boots. When you plug it in the orange light comes on for 30-45 seconds before flashing green then off and then solid orange for 30-45 seconds. It just reaptes this partern. I have tried both soft and hard resets and in boht cases it does the flashing orange but then resumes the solid orange for 30-45 seconds flash green then of pattern. I have tried plugging in a network cable and found that during the 30-45 seconds of orange the computer reports that the cable is plugged in with no ip address, during the fraction of a second that the light is green the computer gets an ip address and then shows disconnected when the light turns off. Any suggestions?

It sounds like power issue to me.. and the express is a sealed unit.. just take them back if still under warranty or replace. There are various posts about how to cut them open but the end result is fairly horrible looking.

  • Updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6 now it is stuck in a constant loop of restarting

I updated my iPad 3 to iOS 6 but now it is stuck in a constant loop where it restarts on its own. I have tried resetting the network settings but it did not work.

I presume you mean to say that the iPad is not being recognised in iTunes! If so,
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, make sure your lead /connections are not faulty.
Fourthly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 for Windows and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 for Macs
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -

Anything that i can do to fix it.
I did a factory reset but that didnt worl.
Please, i dont know what to do.

I'm sorry this is still happening crimsong19! If you have the Extended Warranty, it's for the life of the phone as long as it's activated on your line. However, if you remove the battery, like you said, it will void the warranty. At this point, you can try reaching out to Motorola to see if they can better assist with this. They may have a good solution. You can reach them at http://www.motorola.com/us/home

I connected my 3gs to my computer, and got a popup from itunes saying there was an update for my phone.  Well i like to keep everything up to date, so I did the update.  After it completed, I no longer have phone, Wifi, and bluetooth.  It also is stuck in a reboot loop.  I really do not know what I can do.  I tried to restore it as a new phone, since i had all my data backed up.
Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

I checked the hosts file, and there is nothing refering to gs.apple.com.  Should there be?
Is it possible to restore it back to 6.1?
No problem; it's just that many people buy what they think are "factory unlocked" phones, but the "factory" is the back room of the shop where they bought it.
gs.apple.com should not be in the hosts file (the only reason it might be there is if some hacking tool had been used on the computer in the past; not just jailbreaking tools, but tools to downgrade the OS and perform other unsupported functions).
You cannot restore back to 6.1; you need to resolve the problem with the latest version. Even if you could revert it would not solve the problem. You need to figure out why iTunes can't communicate with the activation servers. If you have another computer, try restoring on that, or take the phone to an Apple store and let a "genius" deal with it. Or, if your antivirus is Kaspersky, delete it completely, as it's impossible to turn it off completely, and it has taken a dislike to things Apple.
