Hey Chitturi,
I'm sorry you're running into this issue with your mic. I need to clarify a couple of things. Is there a hissing noise in all programs? or is the hissing noise only on facebook and on other programs the mic doesn't work at all?
Also it would help to know what product number you have. Here are the steps to find your product number. Once I have your product number I can provide you with direct links for the latest drivers.
I'll keep and eye out for your reply

does anyone know since what version this has changed? Seem like the design is going backwards

    Hello schneids,
I see that you are having start up problems with your HP computer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help with your issues.
Here is a link to some troubleshooting steps that may help resolve your issues.
If you are still having trouble I would suggest testing the power adapter or trying a different power adapter. Most retailers will let you try a power adapter on the computer to see if it works.
    Let me know what happens.

  • EMU 0404 - audio technica ADG1 mic not working

Have a E-MU 0404, Windows 7 64 bit. Headphones and audio outs working fine. Need help with mic issue. Mic not working with this headset or my other ones. Mic input ports working, as I tested with a traditional mic with phantom power on. The headset mics do work, tested them with computer inputs.
Also bought and tried a mic preamp with no luck when plugging in the headset mic.
Why won't the 0404 pick up my gaming headphone mics, and what can I do to fix this?
    Thank you in advance.

I'm really interested to know what settings i should have in the ASIO full duplex program
    it has
    INPUT
    X Asio Driver
    X Emu
    OUTPUT
    X Asio Driver
    X Emu
the order is an issue, and whether or not they should be checked..
Hmm... you shouln't use those ASIO drivers which are installed by Cubase installer (ASIO MME / ASIO DirectX).
Since I don't know the version of Cubase you're using (a bit different device setup system in each version), I can only suggest you to select the "ASIO E-MU 0x0x | USB" driver (device setup) and then set up the I/Os and MIDI ports. You'll find information on how to do it by reading bundled Cubase guides (paper or PDF) ... if you don't have these guides, you'll get all downloaded from Steinberg's site:

My Facetime audio does not work on my MacBook, video is fine.  Volume set to max, internal mic is "on", mute is 'off'.  Advise

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use FaceTime. There's a FaceTime Support Community where everybody uses FaceTime. • Both internal and USB mics not working

Hi there, all. Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Starting last night, I have been having issues with microphone use on my iBook G4. Neither the internal mic nor my USB headset mic (Altec Lansing AHS302USB) are accepting input.
The internal mic's failure doesn't surprise me, as I have heard about the delicate nature of the wire connecting the internal mic from its position on the display down to the main computer. It's the USB mic that confuses me, since USB mics are what everyone seems to recommend that people use when the internal mic is on the fritz (thanks to other mics not working with Mac due to the line-in thing). Also there is the fact that I have used this headset with this computer for over a year with no significant issues until now, with both mics simultaneously failing.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with the headset's wires; I am still able to hear audio through the headphones quite well, and when I load my audio recording program (Audio In) and Sound Preferences, I can see the occasional blip of sound recognition when I move the USB adapter portion around in the port. These blips even occur when the pink microphone jack and headphones jack are unplugged from the adapter, so this suggests to me that the problem lies not with the wires, but somewhere in the USB adapter, port, or the computer itself.
I'm leaning toward the computer itself, since it just seems odd that both mics would just happen to stop working at the same time. That and the fact that audio output still works through the headset, and the USB ports work fine for other USB devices such as my external drive and iPod.
I have tried restarting, resetting the PRAM, and repairing permissions with Disk Utility. Nothing's working so far.
Does anyone have any idea what could possibly be wrong?
For reference's sake, I took a recording of the sound that results from jiggling the USB headset adapter in the port. It's very quiet, so you may need to turn up the volume a little bit to hear it. Again, these are the ONLY sounds that the mic is able to pick up currently.

Just to chime in here - I wonder if it's down to the software: I've recently updated to 10.4.10, and the internal mic seems to have stopped working.
One positive effect of the change to 10.4.10 is that my Griffin iMic no longer flips to 8-bit, 22khz recording when I plug it in.
Having said that, I really like to get my internal mic back up and running again.

  • Internal mic not working after updating to 10.10.1

After updating to 10.10.1 (from 10.10) on my MacBook pro 2010 (15” screen) the internal mic is not working when using FaceTime (or Skype) and so the person on the other end of the video/audio call is unable to hear me. On my end there is a static/crackly sound during FaceTime (or Skype) connecting  since the update which I believe is related to the mic problem (no sound input on Mac during FaceTime/Skype).
    HELP!!!

I had exactly this same issue and and this workaround from Paul on another thread (Internal Mic not working for phone calls in Yosemite ) solved it :
Make sure FaceTime App is not running
    Open Terminal
    type sudo killall coreaudiod
    Press Return
    Enter your computer's admin PW

  • Updgraded G60 453 to windows 8, conexant 221 audio does not work.

re-installed driver using Vista compatibility, driver is installed, shows as enabled and working on audio devices.
    tried clean boot, no luck.
disabled windows HDMI driver, reboot, no luck.
obviously, a laptop is of little value without audio/mic.  so windows 8 made this computer worthless.  is there a fix in sight?

I have same problem with G70-200CTO laptop which I just upgraded to WIN8-32bit.  Initially, sound will work when reinstalling WIN7-32BIT driver (SP45166) but quits shortly afterwards.  DEVICE MANAGER shows HDMI as "High Definition Audio Device" and SPEAKERS as "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221".  WIN8 initially loaded MS drivers to both devices as and showed a description of "High Definition Audio Device" for both; however, after installing HP.com driver #SP45166 the SPEAKERS changed decription to the Conexant 221.  I was very hopeful that my problems were over, but alas, it was not to be.  I read elsewhere that most of the imcompatiblilty is with the new NT6.2 OS that MS is using with WIN8.  So frustrating.  Hopefully, HP or MS will get this resolved.  Posting to get email updates in the hope getting this fixed.  Thanks.

    Hello waynenixcpa!
Congratulations on the new computer!  I would be happy to assist you with the syncing issue.
First, I would like to suggest deleting the current partnership.  Instructions for deleting the partnership: 1) Ensure the device is disconnected from the computer.  2) Launch WMDC.  Navigate Start > (All Programs) Windows Mobile Device Center.  3) From Mobile Device Settings, click >>more (located in the lower-right corner).  4) Click End a partnership.  5) Select the partnership then click End partnership.  Next, I would soft reset your phone, and restart your computer.  Then you can re-create another partnership for syncing with Outlook and your device.  Now you should have the option to sync Contacts, Calendar, Email, Tasks and etc...
Please let me know how this works out for you.

  • SOUND BLASTER X-FI PLATINUM - MIC NOT WORKING... NEED ANSWER

I used to use a crap $50 mic and everything worked fine on my SB setup. Now that I have a real deal studio mic. It doesn't detect it at all. I've tried re-installing. I've tried all the inputs. No luck...
    DOES ANYONE HAVE A SUGGESTION...
    My system runs as is...
    WINDOWS XP (OPERATING SYSTEM)
SOUND BLASTER X-FI PLATINUM (SOUND CARD)
    ADOBE AUDITION 2.0 (SOFTWARE)
    AKG PERCEPTION 200 (MICROPHONE)
    HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

It needs 48 VOLTS Phantom power(phantom power supplied by whatever? equipment it is plugged into..........)...........You cannot expect a soundcard to supply 48v phantom power if there is no 48volts to start with.Mixers and the like usually have "phantom power"supplies built in to power condenser mics.Soundcards also supply the power for regular headset mics and desktop pc mics via the mic socket(jack).A soundcard cannot and will not supply 48 Volts. IF I tried to connect a condenser mic(not headset or desktop)to a soundcard via a XLR connector into a stereo jack plug(adapter), where do you think the 48 Volts would come from?If a condenser mic does not have a battery inside or is not a low voltage one that takes it's power across the mic jack on a soundcard then it aint gonna work. How do you think a headset or desktop mic works?on fresh air?It takes enough power(volts)from across the power rail that supplies the soundcard. I'm an audio/electronics egineer so I should know.Message Edited by musicman53 on 09-02-20070:30 AM

  • Core Audio Drivers not Found Error (no Logic Pro Installed)

I am receiving the following error in GarageBand 08 and was hoping someone might be able to assist.
When recording with a USB mic in GarageBand 08 (MXL USB.006) I sometimes get the following error: (Core Audio Drivers not Found). The error occurs after I have completed a recording session and removed the USB mic. (The error occurs regardless of if I close GB before removing the mic; but only occasionally)
In checking the GB preferences, the Built-In audio option has disappeared from the drop down menu entirely for both Audio Input and Audio Output (although it still can find the USB mic if I reattach). In the Utilities folder, audio preferences, the Built-In audio option is also missing from the drop downs. (Not grayed out -- missing).
In researching the problem, it looks like a similar problem occurs with the Logic Pro suite but I don't have that installed on my Mac (and never have). In contacting MXL support, they noted that it was a problem with Leopard and they didn't have a fix.
At this point, I'm looking for either (1) a fix I've missed in my research or (2) an easy way to reinstall/replace/find the drivers without having to restore my system from backup. I've received the error three times now and restoring from back up - which clears the error and restores the drop down - is getting tiresome.
    Thank you!

Thank you for the suggestion! I believe that was the issue the first time I lost the drivers. Unfortunately, even resetting the inputs and closing GB before disconnecting doesn't guarantee my Built-In audio won't disappear. Thank you for trying though!

  • X220 Internal Mic not working

I had just get a new X220 in recent days.
And I found the internal mic not working, I can not record any sound through Sound Record or Skype.
I had tried all the following methods, but the mic still can not working. Anyone cound give me some suggestion ?
    1) update sound card driver to 8.32.23.2
    2) Fn+F6,  change between "only my voice" or "Multiple voice"
    4) UnInstall source card driver and use microsoft generic driver
    3) The method in http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T420-internal-mic-problem/td-p/435551/page/..., operate like :
Start -> control Panel -> Sound
    Click on the "Recording" tab
Click Internal Microphone to highlight it
    Click Properties
    Click the "Advanced" tab
    Uncheck "Enable audio enhancements"
Finally, click the "Levels" tab and turn Microphone Boost to 0dB. (if you don't do this the noise will be even louder than before).
    Click apply.

    hey kitewind,
welcome to the forums and since you have tested the microphone using microsoft generic drivers and i'm guessing it did not work; therefore the best action for you right now is to contact our tech support group via

  • Stereo Mix Audio format not supported?

    Hi
I'm pretty new at streaming, and i need help with my audio setup, I'm selecting Stereo Mix from the dropdown menu in the FMLE 3.2 but when i do it says.
    "Audio format not supported."
"Audio format provided by audio capture device is not supported by this application."
I don't really understand why, since my mic device is supported. Why does this occur?
And how can I fix it?
I have a motherboard soundcard "VIA HD".
EDIT: I figured out why it doesn't work.
I went to the Recording devices menu to check the options but I noticed that Stereo Mix was "Currently unavailable" I figured maybe a program was using it but I don't know how to check what programs use the device.

I have noticed something else which is weird : the recording device is ALWAYS called "Line 1".
I tried renaming both the VAC playback and record devices Line 1 to other names, FMLE still displays "Line 1". This makes no sense (and Audacity sure doesn't behave that way, I have checked).
Should I need to make a complete uninstallation to wipe old FMLE settings ?

  • My mic not working

    My mic not working

Test out your mic in windows sound recorder to see if it works there.  If you've tried "everything" configuration-wise then the issue would either be hardware or drivers.  You may want to download the latest audio driver package from either Lenevo or the maker of your sound device and see if a total upgrade/re-install of the audio driver suite will help resolve the issue.  You might want to test out another external mic to see if that works as well.

  • Tactic3D Rage USB [WITH] 3.5MM Audio/Mic Splitter

I'm wondering if the 3.5MM 4-pole audio cable can split back to legacy Mic/Headphone jacks
    using the Audio/Mic Splitter
    Link: http://us.creative.com/p/gaming-head...litter-adapter
with the Tactic3D Rage USB Headset
    http://us.creative.com/p/gaming-head...tic3d-rage-usb
I do not see it listed in the compatibility list,
and I was wonder why it works with Fury, but not Rage.
or if does, and if not. why it doesn't
Thanks for any replies, really appreciate it.

The Microphone does not work very good with 3.5MM,
I had to boost the mic & Level both to 100%, and still it's not good.
Sound was only coming from left speaker from the mic.
