My audiobooks won't sync on my 4s

The books show up in my list/library in iTunes but they won't appear on my iPhone 4s when I try to sync them. Help.

Where did you get these audiobooks?
Have you tried playing them in iTunes to authorize them if they are copy protected purchases?
How are your trying to sync them?

  • Audiobooks won't sync

I am runnung the latest OS and iTunes. My audiobooks will not sync to any of my devices. (ipad 3rd gen, iphone 5s, iphone 5, iphone 4s) I have checked and unchecked the sync selected audiobboks box, resyncing everytime. I have also tried the sync only selected items radio button (on and off). Itunes seems to hang for several minutes on the determining apps to sync phase and then just finishes the sync process without adding my audiobooks.  I get my books from audible and that is all I sync from itunes. My music is through itunes match and i do over the air for my apps. The rest is handled by iCloud.

Exact same issue -- during sync with iTunes it skips over the step where the tracks from audiobook would be loaded and jumps right to last stage.

  • Why do i have to pay $35 to find out why my audiobooks won't sync?

I can see my audiobooks on one of my two authorized computers, I can see my audiobooks on my iPhone, but on my second authorized laptop, although my audiobooks show up on one screen, the audiobooks tab shows no content.  When I attempt to sync it warns "are you sure you want to remove all books and music on your iPhone and replace with this library?"  Of course I don't since it has no content.  When I attempted to access Apple Support, it tells me I'll have to pay $35.  ***?!?

Why? Because you are asking to use telephone support for a problem which isn't covered. Unless you purchase AppleCare there is normally a complimentary 90-day, one incident, period following a purchase of a computer or iOS device in which you can use the phone support system.
Unlike music and most other iTunes Store purchases, audiobooks are only available for one successful download, after which it is your responsibility to back them up and transfer them to any new computer you want to use them on. Copy the audiobooks via network, memory stick, external hard drive etc.
Note also that isn't normally possible to sync an iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers although it can be achieved if both computers have copies of the self same library. See Re: how do i sync on a second laptop without the data on my iPhone 5 being erased?

  • Audible books won't sync

Audiobooks won't sync. The Audiobooks playlist is checked on the ipad sync screen. The audiobooks playlist on itunes shows multiple audible books but the ipad says no audiobooks.
I've synced, checked, unchecked, rechecked, multiple times.

I'm so glad someone figured this out. It was driving me crazy. I ended up having to manually manage music and drag all my books on to the device. Initially, I tried creating an audiobook playlist of my own, and that wouldn't even show up when i tried to sync the device. Very strange.
As an unrelated note, I'm (surprisingly) loving typing on this thing. It's much more error free than i ever thought it would be.

  • Tried to sync iPod Touch, noted "new" iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried the fix, but iTunes hangs when I try to open Preferences.

Just tried to download new audiobooks to my iPod Touch 3, and noted new iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried to Reset Sync History per Support Article, but it didn't work. My purchased audiobooks are also gone from my iTunes Library.  Any fix, or is my best bet to uninstall new iTunes and reload earlier version??

  • Import audio book to itunes but it won't sync to my ipod

I am at a complete loss. I have been importing audio books from the public library to itunes and then putting them on my ipod for months. All of a sudden the books won't sync to my ipod. Songs work ok, but my audio books don't. The little sync icon spins and the itunes screen says it is updating but it only lasts for a few seconds and the book is not on my ipod. I have done everything I can think of including restoring my ipod back to the original settings which lost everything. I don't know what else to do.

Might you find the answer here?

  • An audiobook will not sync with my iPod

I bought an audiobook from iTunes about 2 years ago. It was on my iPod and played perfectly all that time.
About two weeks ago I noticed that all my audiobooks had disappeared from both the iPod and the iTunes library on the PC. I have manged to get them all back onto the computer and most of them are synced back onto my iPod too.
However, this one just will not sync and I cannot listen to it on the iPod anymore. It appears in the list of available books, I ticked it, but it won't sync.
When I click on the Device in the sidebar of iTunes and click on  Books the name of the audiobook there in the list, but it is in grey type, not black, and there is a little circle of dots in the left hand column, just after the number.
It looks as if some of it has synced, but not the whole thing.
Any ideas? iPod support were no help and iTunes support wanted to charge me £25 for a problem they seem to have created!!

What happens when you try to sync your Shuffle with iTunes?  Do you get any error messages? Does the Shuffle even appear in your iTunes library?
A little more detail would be a lot of help.

The following thread seems to have identified where Audible Audiobook syncing is located.

Need to go to the "Books" Tab from your iPad, Scroll down... to audiobooks, they hid this well. You can select individual books and or playlists.

  • I bought an audio book on iTunes on my iPad 2. It won't sync to my iPhone...how do I do it?

Audio books I buy on iTunes on my iPad 2 won't sync to my iPhone. How do I do this?

What do you mean by sync to the phone? You cannot sync iDevices with one another at all.
If you mean that you cannot download the book on the phone after downloading it on the iPad - that is because audiobooks are not part of the free redownloads of iTunes in the cloud - or at least that is my understanding.
Take a look at this discussion
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4475398?start=0&tstart=0
Then look at this support article about iTunes in the cloud availability and it doesn't even show audiobooks.

If you transfer the book to iTunes and then sync it to the phone, that may work.

  • Podcasts won't sync - error "no longer exist"

i connected my ipod to sync to itunes. for some unknown reason, itunes was blanked out and when it synced, it wiped everything off my ipod. i reuploaded everything from my hard drive and subscribed to/downloaded podcasts. however, now when itunes syncs with my ipod, i get a message that the podcasts no longer exist so it won't sync. help! i miss my podcasts!!!

It has nothing to do with being authorised, that doesn't affect Podcasts. Plus, you already have them on your computer.
Did you have to change the settings for the Sync Podcasts? If you did, then you may need to perform another Sync to make sure the "change" has been implemented.
    If not, then:
Have you previously managed to Sync Podcasts with this iPod?
Are they Podcasts, downloaded as Podcasts through iTunes?
    Are they iTunes U programmes?
    Are they video Podcasts?
Do you see any error messages when you Sync the iPod with iTunes?
Where, on your iPod, are you looking for the Podcasts?

  • I have moved my music to my new mac air but now it won't sync with my ipod or my iphone 4s

I have transferred mymusic to my new mac air from an acer laptop via an external hard drive and it's all there on the mac but now itunes won't sync with my ipod touch or my iphone 4s.
With the ipod it says 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device " It also doesn't show up at all in the devices section.
With the iphone it says there isn't enough space to sync even though I have experimented and unticked various things including photos which takes up a lot of space. It seems like it wants to sync with the empty space on the iphone (very small!) and not with the whole thing. I have tried various things suggested on this forum but have had no luck.

  • Voice Memos won't sync to iTunes anymore

So for some reason when I sync my iPhone 3G, the voice memos won't sync to my iTunes library.
The "Sync voice memos" box is checked and older voice memos from April and before synced in the past.
Now there's just a Voice Memos folder under my iPhone Tab and the new voice memos won't appear in my iTunes Library at all.
I want to convert them to Mp3 but that option is grayed out under the iPhone Voice Memos folder.
Is this just a bug? I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue with iTunes?
    Any suggestions?

Even though this topic is considered answered, my Voice Memos weren't syncing and the software update didn't fix it. So, I did this:
    1) I backed up and synced my ipod
    2) deleted the voice memos playlist in iTunes (my playlist was empty already)
    3) deselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    4) clicked "Apply"
    5) when sync was done, shut down iTunes
    6) disconnected and reconnected iPhone and restarted iTunes
    7) reselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    8) clicked "Apply"
A new Voice Memo playlist was created with my voice memos in iTunes.
It's possible you can skip the step of deleting the playlist. I was just trying everything I could think of to get it going again. Maybe you can skip the whole first half and just shut down iTunes and reconnect device and sync again! So try and let us all know.
I think what was happening - and why it will work for some to upgrade their software - was because I had an iPod Touch with 3.1 syncing memos to iTunes before. Maybe the iPhone with ios 4 couldn't sync to the folder already created?

  • IOS4 large Voice Memos won't sync

    Hi,
I just upgraded my iPhone 3G(s) to iOS 4 yesterday and today I'm having problems with large Voice Memos. I use this heavily in my work with memos over 1 hour in length and never had a problem with syncing with my iTunes 9.2 (61) on my iMac/10.6.4.
Using iOS4 for the first time today I made 2 long recordings. One appears to have been corrupted on the iPhone (never happened before) and the other won't sync. I was able to pull both off using iPhone Explorer and the second can be added manually to iTunes and it plays fine.
Is there a bug in iOS4 Voice Memos for 3G(s) in this regard? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Bob

I have this problem as well on a iPhone 3GS with OS4. Seems that OS4 broke some things. I had a 2 hour recording that wouldn't play on the iPhone. iTunes would sync the recording, but when I tried to play it on the PC, the PC kept saying it was not a recognized format. Short recordings worked just fine, just not long ones. Even ones that were just 15 minutes wouldn't work.
Try this program for either the MAC or Windows. It works great. Iphone Explorer
    http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/
(taken from a previous post on similiar subject)
Downloaded and installed iPhone Explorer. Looked in the recording directory on the iPhone and sure enough, there was a MOV version of the recording still on my iPhone that was 2 weeks old. Copied it to my desktop and it plays just fine. Thanks guys for pointing out iPhone Explorer. Also found other MOV versions of recordings in that directory that I thought were gone because they were lengthly recordings. Your right, APPLE needs to fix this issue. At some point, all of the left over MOV versions of the recordings will eventually fill up the data space on the iPhone.
