Probably some interfering software extension. If you installed something recently try disabling it.
More generally try
* use Firefox's [[safe mode]]
** do not make changes when you see the window with a list, just click on continue
** also use the default theme
** if necessary also then disable all plugins <br/> see [[troubleshooting plugins]]

I just installed OS X Yosemite on my MacBook. I now cannot get the computer to start up. If I hold down the power button to try and power it back up, it will not start. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

As soon as I downloaded Firefox 4, my Roboform no longer worked. Roboform says it's not compatible so they want me to buy an update from them...don't want to do that. How can I download Firefox 3 again?
What you are seeing sounds like the "advertised update" from Firefox 3.6 versions to Firefox 8.0.1 that started on 2011-12-01. See --> https://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.6_MU
This is the same as has occurred when prior versions were nearing their end-of-life. Support for Firefox 3.6 versions is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

Presently running mac osx 10.5.8. Recent Firefox update says it no longer works with osx 10.5 and it's no longer supported by apple. Any suggestins?
Use an earlier version of Firefox, use Safari, or upgrade to a later version of OS X. Any Intel Mac can run Snow Leopard.

I have an iphone 4 and cannot get my mute off when I am using Facetime. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. When I touch the mute button, nothing happens. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
the mute button is a switch you need to flip, not touch. if you look at it and see color, its on.

I delete an individual message but the time I received the message is still showing next to the persons name in my inbox instead of going back into the correct date/time order. Anyone know how to fix this?
SOLUTION
Open "terminal" on your mac and type the following:
defaults write com.apple.mail IgnoreSortOrderWhenSelectingAfterDelete 1
(copy and past the whole line)
This will stop that behaviour in mail.
It works on most opperating systems.

Yesterday a security update for IE7 was automatically downloaded into my computer. Now the history feature of Firefox is working poorly. Often it doesn't save previous pages for the back button to access during an online session. The few times I've been able to navigate back to a Google search page, the search terms I've used previously are absent. However most often today, the browser doesn't even acknowledge that there were previous pages and the back button remains grayed out.
I got an email saying that Cor-el had posted a reply to my question. I don't see it on this page. Was it deleted?

I like to be able to navigate backwards and forwards without having to scroll down and find where I was previously. In Firefox Four, when using the forwards and back buttons, the page will automatically return to the top of the page. Is there any way to change this setting in Firefox Four to prevent it from doing that?
Thanks for the response. No Time Machine, but I probably have a backup from a few months ago on an external hard drive. :/ I guess it'd have useful history, but not if it overwrote the last 3 months or so of Awesome Bar, that might not be so great.

Every time I click the "back" button, Firefox reloads the previous page I was on. How do I disable the reload and have Firefox display the cached/prior page version? The whole point of going "back" is to see what we were just looking at.. I don't want a refreshed version of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am running version 3.6.12.
No problem. It's not a request that's been seen much if at all to be honest. I rely on them myself.
