My back button stopped working, so how to fix it?

The back button stopped working. I can still use the keyboard substitute though. I have tried deleting places.sqlite and resetting some of the settings people suggested in config:about. Nothing has worked.

You can try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
*C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 17.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • About two weeks ago the brower back button stopped working on random occasions and website. Issue is never consistent..

HP laptop, Windows XP, FF 4.0. Don't remember changing any add ons or version of FF when the issue started. Sometimes when I opened a new page off a web site the back button works and I can go back to the home page, sometimes it does not work. This is totally random. I use multiple tabs for news sources and this issue is not associated with a particular site. Short of uninstall and reinstall, loosing all my add ins and features, I don't know how to fix this. I have been using FF for years on this computer. This bug just started a couple of weeks prior to FF 4.0 coming out.

Do you have the McAfee Site Advisor, that one is known to cause problems with the back button. If you have it try disabling it and the back button should function normally.
If you do not have that add-on, you can check to see if another add-on is causing this, for details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • My home button stopped working. Can I fix it?

The home button on my iPad 2 stopped working. There was no change or precipitating event -- such as updating operating system or software, a physical shock, etc. It simply stopped working. I am using Assistive Touch under the accessibility options as a workaround. But it is a nuisance. Anyone know a way to restore function in the home button?

I know of no other way to fix the home button, of restoring the iOS software (as suggested above) doesn't do the job for you. It is certainly worth a try. Backup your iPad, restore to factory settings, then restore from the backup and sync with iTunes.
I would do this rather than erasing all content and settings. When you erase the device, you do not reload the software and if it is a software issue, you can only fix it by restoring the software through iTunes. If after you restore from the backup, you are still having problems, then you could try restoring as new and sync your content back to your iPad without restoring the settings and data from the backup.
If none of this appeals to you or you would rather not try it on your own, make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask for their help.

  • I dropped my Iphone in water and the on/off button stopped working, how do I fix it?

I dropped my phone in some water and it was only in there for about two or three seconds. I grabbed it and dried it straight away and made sure to get in all of it, and it was fine, everything worked. But about an hour after the on/off button stopped working, so i have to use the home button to unlock it and have to wait for the screen to turn off after 1 minute of leaving it. I cant turn it off and dont know how to fix it. Will it go away on its own, do I have to send it off to get fixed? This literally happened like two hours ago, and my phone is a bit more than a year old. Can anyone help me?

Make an app;ointment at the genius bar and take your credit card. You can get an out of warrnty replacement for an iPhone 4 for $149.
If you had just done it, the advice would have been to shut it off and put it in a bowl or bag of uncooked rice or silica gel for a week.  Unfortunately, since it's been powered on for several hours, since then, it may have been permanently damaged. You can try the rice trick, but be prepared to pay for a replacement at some point down the road.

  • Hello, my main button has stopped working .. how do I make it work again?

    Hello,
my main button has stopped working.. how do I make it work again?
    thank you

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time.

  • My home button stopped working ....any ideas on how to fix??

I've had my Ipad 2 for less than a week and all of a sudden the home button stopped working.  Any ideas on what I can do to fix it or should I try to bring back for a replacement?

See if you can do any of these - but you need the home button to try the first one - or you must have multitasking gestures enabled on the iPad in order to try the second one.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you have multitasking gestures turned on - you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers to get to the recents tray.

  • My home button stopped working, how can i fix it myself?

i have an iphone 5, and the first one i had the lock button stopped working so i had to get a new one, i just dropped this one and now the home button doesnt work.... is that something i can fix? and if so, how?

IFixIt.com gurus rate i5 repairs as "moderate to difficult" at best. An experienced jockey who's done a few dozen may be able to open the thing without breaking the screen, a first-timer, very doubtful. And it should still be within its one-year warranty, so let Apple deal with the issue.
But if you insist and are fond of electronic corpses, have fun: http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPhone_5

  • The music i've put into an imovie project has stopped working. How do I get it back?

The music i've put into an imovie project has stopped working. How do I get it back?

As far as I am aware, I have always used the standard keyboard and texting apps that came with the phone.  There is no swype option on the keyboard any longer. The keyboard is just standard numbers and letters that have to be pressed individually. When I go to settings to try to change anything in swype, it looks as it would if swype were working - it shows all the settings for swype are correct - it just doesn't show up when the keyboard pops up for any apps or function on the phone.
I placed the phone in SafeMode and still not able to use swype.

  • My on/off button and volume buttons stopped working.

For no apparent reason, the on/off button and volume buttons stopped working. iPod touch 4th gen with 4.3.3 installed.

You can try a couple of things.
First a hard reboot: hold the sleep/wake and home button down until the unit shuts off and boots back up to the Apple screen.
Second restore the device py plugging it into iTunes and under the device summary screen click restore. You want to restore from backup to make sure all your info is synced back to the iPod at the end. Depending on how much stuff is on there this can take a while.
Thrid, take it to the Apple Store and have a Genius look at it. Depending you how bussy your local Apple store is you probably want to make a reservation first.

  • Volume down button stopped working Acer Liquid E700

Dear reader, I have an Acer Liquid E700 for about 3 months now. Suddenly the volume down button stopped working. I didn't do anything strange with the phone, but I think the problem started to appear right after I detached/attached the back case (but I don't think anything went wrong there). The volume down button is neither working for the volume, nor the screenshot option. I have the latest system update on the phone and the rest of the phones buttons work fine. Do you know what the problem is and perhaps how to try solve it? Thanks in advance,Vincent

After pressing the button alot of times, it suddenly started working again -_-. Thanks for the answer anyway!
