My background graphic dissapears after linking in IE 7!

Just gotta love that IE! NOT! Sorry, just a little venting
there. For some reason my background graphic disappears from my
navigation list items after that page has been visited. This is
only happening in IE. I am using IE 7. Could be happening in other
versions of IE as well.

We would need to see your page and its code. Can you post a

Background graphics and link icons do not display even after downgrading flash, emptying cache, reinstalling recent and older versions of firefox

sometime today, firefox 14 began not displaying the background graphics and link icons on every site I went on from my laptop. It would display this information when I changed the rendering engine to the explorer platform. I have removed the flash player 11.3 from the computer; re-installed flash 10.3 recommended from the troubleshooting page; restarted the computer; same problem. Did the same with the Java plug-in with the same result. Disabled all extensions and restarted Firefox with no change. Examined the sites on a different laptop using version 10 of Firefox and everything worked fine! Reloaded older version of Firefox on original laptop, restarted computer, same problem on older version. Updated to latest revision, listed below, and same problem. Went to desktop computer using version 14, and same thing is happening there also. (I have not done anything to this system yet.)

All of the items contained in both of the reference documents were already active on each system. I have created a zip file with four screen capture pictures showing what I'm dealing with. The first picture shows what the site looked like yesterday morning; the second shows what happened when I refreshed the screen this morning; the third shows what happened when I switched the rendering engine on the same tab this morning; the fourth shows what happen when the tab was switched back to original rendering engine. Please consider this for a moment: I am having to answer these questions from you using my iPad because the graphics at the top of this window which control the type-input will not display in Firefox while the post buttons will. Let me know if you can't get the picture file and I'll find another way to get it to you.

Changes in template background graphics are reverted after publishing

I'm using the Watercolor theme, and as I'm using a page width of 800 pixels, I also wanted to change the width of the navbar background graphics from the default of 700 to 800 pixels. That was easy enough, the navbar background for e.g. the Watercolor blog is found in iWeb/Shared/Watercolor Blog.webtemplate, and is named navbar_gold2-1.jpg. I just changed the size of this in Photoshop from 90*700 to 90*800 pixels.
In iWeb all looks OK, the background width is correct (800 Pixels), but upon publishing the width is reverted to 700 pixels.
There must be another setting to do in order to get this right, but where?

The header width is hard coded in XML, you can modify it; but,
IMPORTANT: it is important to make copy of anything/everything you are about to modify, so you can restore it, in case you mess up.
To modify XML, open it with a text editor and search for bl:header-layer (I think), then look for width parameter.
If you really stuck, you could email Suzanne Boben at http://www.11mystics.com , Suz knows anything and everything about iWeb XML.
Other alternative is post processing after you publish, the problem can be resolved in one line of Javascript.

Sounds that you installed a Persona.
You can uninstall your current Persona and revert to the Default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Automatic renaming of clips after linking....

Working on a Dual System production, where I roughly line up the videofiles (EOS 5D converted to ProRes LT) including guide audio with the multitracked audiofiles (poly). Sync using Plural Eyes, and some manually. After sync is matched, I link the videoclip with the audio to get a new Master clip. This USUALLY do no harm to the original clipnames, but recently a lot of the audioclips got renamed after the videoclip....all by itself! Or not???! It's not consistent, but I cannot recall I've done things in another way when it happens. It's extremely important that the audioclips keeps their original name after linking, because of audio post i Pro Tools afterwards. When I unlink a new MasterClip, select an audio clip and check the Source - the original filename is there. But how can I revert all these renamed files back to it's sourcename? Found some similar cases here on AD, but with no luck yet. Exported a sequence as XML and imported into a new, fresh Project. Same names on all clips a before.... Exported an OMF 2.0, but it created only new audiofiles based on the NOT WANTED clipnames. Anyone??? Thanks.

and after using pluraleyes the synced sound wavs get renamed to the same name as the video file that your syncing to?
no, it happens either after linking the new (seperate recorded) sound to the video (most of the time), and/or making a cut. This occurs at random; there is a soundfile in the synced sequence that changes its name to the video when I cut it with the blade - first part stays correct, but with second part the soundfile copies its name from the video. Yesterday it was even the other way round. Cleaning up parts in the synced sequence I made cuts and the video after that cut got the same name as the seperate soundfiles.
are you sure that the new sound is actually there? its not just lost the pluraleyesed combination has it and you're seeing the unlinked version? sorry if those sound daft questions but just covering basics.
Yep sound is there, I have a masterdisk, copies everything to the FCP disk
Ive not used pluraleyes, but it sounds to me like either a disc permissions thing or some funny combo of fcp and pluraleyes, have you checked with pluraleyes to make sure of compatability with your vers of FCP?
using both last version but I did not inform Pluraleyes yet if they're familiar with the problem

MOS Scrollable Frame "pushing" background graphic

Following on from my animated magazine cover, I am trying to overly a scrollable text frame which a user can pull the contents on the cover page, however it is pushing the background video as I scroll as if it is grouped with the background image.
The background image is a mp4 file, a starfield animation. I have added a box and pasted into the frame a textbox with a red background. Here are the layers
I then selected it as a MSO as below :-
However on the preview, when the scrolling frames is dragged, it pushes the background graphic along with it.
Any ideas?

How can i do this?

The effects tab contains special filters and smart objects, so you can’t simply add a jpeg. You need an image, an XML file and a thumbnail. It’s probably easier to keep your artwork in a separate folder and then when you want to add a background to an open image click File à Place
Then navigate to your background and click Place. That will automatically open as a smart object on a separate layer and you can easily scale it to size or use blend modes/opacity, without loss of quality.

Text won't appear in front of background graphic

I have layers for (1) a background graphic, (2) an animated symbol, and (3) text. The text will only reside (hidden) behind the background graphic. I've tried to use the "arrange" utility to either move the text to the front or move the background to the rear, but neither produces any result. The symbol behaves correctly; moving across (and in front of) the background. This problem is so fundamental it's a real hair-tearer. Any thoughts?

"As with other Flash elements, it's best to separate text on its own layer to keep your layers organized. Having text on its own layer also makes it easy to select, move, or edit your text without disturbing the items in the layers below or above it."
No guidance regarding z-order, layer level.

Background graphic question?

Hello, I'm very new to using Dreamwaeaver and I'd like to create a background graphic that has text across it so that it is basically in the background at all times on my main web page. I've been looking at inserting the image file and playing with the transparecy feature in the properties of the file but I don't yet understand what I need to do to create this image file for the overall background of the page. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Using CSS code either in your external stylesheet (preferred) or between the <style> and </style> tags in your HTML document, you can repeat or tile the image across your page like so.
body {
background: url(some-bg-image.jpg) repeat;
Or if you don't want the image to repeat, you can center the background image and add color to fill in the empty areas around it like this:
body {
background: #FFF url(some-bg-image.jpg) no-repeat center center;

Photoshop Elements 10 - adding/installing additional backgrounds/graphics

Hi, i previously used an older photoshop elements program on windows and when i needed to add more backgrounds/graphics that i had purchased i use to go to 'photo creations' folder and then select either 'background' or 'graphic' folder and paste my new background files into there. I then closed photoshop and restarted, when i did that it would then the added files would thent show in the 'contents' tab under backgrounds or graphics. When using this program i tried to do same but it is not showing in programs content. Am i saving it in wrong place? Please help or any suggestions. Thank you

Go to the following location:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
There you will find a file named as MediaDatabase.db3
Cut that file from there, and paste it somewhere else. (Just to keep as a backup)
Now when that file is not there, relaunch Editor. It will show a dialog box saying "Building Contents". Let the Editor do it's processing. Depending on your machine speed, it will again create the Mediadatabase.db3 file. (On my machine it took around 10 mins)
Then you should be able to see the added backgrounds and frames.

How can I gain access to bonus backgrounds, graphics, etc in Adobe PSE 7 if Photoshop.com services have been shut down? I have been using the bonus backgrounds and such from Photoshop.com for several years to design Christmas cards for my photography clients. Now, my Photoshop.com membership doesn't exist, so I can't use those backgrounds and graphics. Is there a way to go around this or to gain access to those bonus items?

Any that you have already used are on your computer--you only have to download them the first time you use them. If you haven't already downloaded them, then yes, you're right--they're no longer available.

Menu background blacks out after 10-15 seconds

Using Encore in Production Premium CS3 and simple menus from library, suddenly menu backgrounds are disappearing after 10-15seconds.When running "preview" before burning a disc, things appear normal. Project check reveals no items. Buttons, titles, and audio continue to play normally against a black background. These exact menus, with audio, have worked on 50 different projects over the past two years, but crashed today! I have not changed any hardware or software, so this problem is perplexing, annoying and time consuming. I have tried several different menus, HD, widescreen, animation and no animation.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.....

The duration is whatever audio track I've selected, i.e. 1 min 59sec.
The "hold forever" box is greyed out and I can't figure out how to cjange that, so I cannot check the box.
Loop Point is 00;00;00;00.
The thing that puzzles me is I'm using a library menu (NTSC_Television Menu) which I've used successfully about a month ago. Preferences are all default and I can't really think of anything I've fooled with in the program.
Is an uninstall/reinstall of Production Studio Premium likely to help? Hate to do that since it takes so long.

- If Adobe Bridge CS5 is opened and a flash video is played with Safari 5 the whole desktop Vsync will get disabled.
- iTunes 9.2 CoverFlow showing corrupt images for blank cover art.
- Google Earth showing corrupt image as viewport after opening a website from within the application.

Your MBP has a different graphics card, Sig - nVidia 9600M, rather than the nVidia 8600M that fjtorsol has.
Fjtorsol, there are issues with the nVidia drivers in 10.6.4 being pretty buggy, but I'm not clear on exactly which Macs are affected.
I would suggest running a Repair Permissions then reinstalling 10.6.4 from the combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048 to make sure that your system is correctly updated.
If that doesn't work, your best bet is to revert to 10.6.3 until the graphics drivers are fixed.
