  • While I delete characters in firefox, it deletes two characters

    Hello there! I have been using Mozilla Firefox for a long time. Now I have problems. While I delete characters in firefox, it deletes two characters at once and the arrows (forward, upward, etc.) do not work at all. The forward delete is not working. Please help me. Thanks!

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • TS2771 What should I do about the backspace key/delete button doesn't work?

    The backspace/delete key doesn't work on my son's ipod touch.  What can I do?

    A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
    No content is affected by this procedure.

  • The Delete/Backspace key

    The following occurs frequently, is immensely detractful from user experience, and has persisted through all updates starting from the original iPhone.
    When using the delete/backspace key, I often hold it down for no more than 2-3 seconds. This is to delete usually only one word. What happens is the delete key becomes stuck, and deletes an entire sentence or paragraph. I am helpless to stop it. Several rapid taps can also trigger th.....there it went.

    i think i may have experienced this before...def. not frequently.
    what i think is happening is when you go to delete, there may be some sort of delay or lag. and so you're tapping delete. it doesnt seem to be deleting so you tape a bunch of times. the phone actually registers all those taps and deletes as many characters as taps, or similarly, continues to delete for the duration of how long you've held the delete button.
    unfortunately my only advice at this moment is to delete slowly...and patiently.

  • Can no longer open two Firefox tabs, have close using Task Bar/Processes. Some links won't activate on websites. As per support suggestion,have backed up profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox and replaced thingsetc

    Can no longer open two Firefox tabs at the same time. Will disappear from screen but won't close - have to go to Task Bar/ Processes to close it, some links won't activate on websites. As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
    It is a bit irritating.

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

    * [http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/ Hitman Pro]
    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
    Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.

  • Backspace, Del, Arrow keys, Tab not working in Firefox when applying validation

    Hi,
    I am developing a webpage with some textboxes requiring only alphabets or alphanumeric text to be accepted. I am using DevExpress controls and following is the javascript code that executes on keypress
    function fn_allowAlphabetspace(s, e) {
    var theEvent = e.htmlEvent || window.event;
    var key = theEvent.keyCode || theEvent.which;
    debugger;
    key = String.fromCharCode(key);
    var regex = /[a-zA-Z ]/;
    if (!regex.test(key)) {
    theEvent.returnValue = false;
    if (theEvent.preventDefault)
    theEvent.preventDefault();
    All the browsers except firefox allow Backspace, Del, Tab, Arrow keys, Home, End key to work perfectly. Firefox does not allow any of these to work on the textboxes.
    Thanks
    Shitiz

    Hi,
    I tried to solve it by debugging the javascript and found the below code to be working for firefox as well as on other browsers IE10, Chrome and Safari without any issues
    //validation function to allow only alphabets and space
    function fn_allowAlphabetspace(s, e) {
    var searchSpecial = '$Backspace$Del$Home$Tab$Left$Right$Up$Down$End$';
    if (searchSpecial.indexOf('$' + e.htmlEvent.key + '$') < 0) {
    var theEvent = e.htmlEvent || window.event;
    var key = theEvent.keyCode || theEvent.which;
    key = String.fromCharCode(key);
    var regex = /[a-zA-Z ]/;
    if (!regex.test(key)) {
    theEvent.returnValue = false;
    if (theEvent.preventDefault)
    theEvent.preventDefault();
    Please not that parameter '''''e''''' passed in the function provide the details of the keypress function. I am using DevExpress ASPxTextBoxes. Anybody who wants to use this function need to make changes in the above code as per the control used
    Thanks

  • Backspace Deletes Two Songs

    Is hitting backspace supposed to delete two items from playlists? I haven't noticed this happening in any other areas of iTunes, just in playlists. I'm not double-tapping and it's not an issue with the keyboard. Hitting delete will remove a single item, but backspace deletes the highlighted song and the one below it.

    Were these songs encoded with iTunes? Not all encoders out there are strictly following the MP3 specifications, and the hardware decoder on the iPod shuffle may be somewhat more picky than iTunes or other software decoders are.
    Use iTunes to either transcode the songs or, if possible, to encode them anew from their original source and in all likelihood your iPod will not spurn them any longer.

  • How do I delete forwards, ie without using the backspace key ?

    When want to change a letter or some text I always have to position the cursor after the entire word and use the backspace key to delete the whole word, even if I just want to delete, for example, the first letter. Is there a key that deletes forwards ?
    This applies to my iPad, MacBook Air and iPhone.

    I'd like to sort of hiighjack this thread.  I moved from an iPad Mini to an iPad Air bcause I wanted to add a keyboard case that would replace some of the frustration I've experienced trying to type on the Mini's display.  So with the AIR I purchased a Belkin Ultimate keyboard and I'm very peased with it.  My "principal" computer is a desktop PC and I was quite startled to find there are no cursors, other than by finger, in the iPad world; however, I'm getting used to that.  Re the posting here, that seems to be good advice re the delete function.  My question: looking prettyy closely at my Belkn keyboard, where is the "delete" key?

  • Key backspace and delete work with JDK1.3.1 and not with JDK1.4

    In JCTable, keys backspace and delete are not working with JDK1.4. It works with JDK1.3.1.

    I have the same problem, but the version within SUN seems imcomplete,what version is ?
    For example I am using the xsl tag library provided by Apache (I know this now deprecated). In its ApplyTag.java it uses XSLTDataSource this is not in the SUN 1.4 distribution so it falls over. If I add XALAN 1.0.1 it falls over because it on getDefaultLiason() because it starts loading somne classes from rt.jar and some from xalan.jar, how are you meant to override this.

  • Backspace and delete keys not working in LS?

    Hi all, I was tutoring a co-worker on the basics of LiveCycle Designer, and ran into a very odd problem.  Neither the backspace nor the delete keys work in the application.  In order to delete text or a cell, she had to resort to using "Cut."
    Moreover, when she tried to create a drop-down list, she was not able to click the "+" sign in the object palette in order to add items to it...it was as if the button simply was not there.  I've never seen this issue before.  Anyone know what's going on and if there is a setting to fix this?  I know the keyboard is not damaged because backspace and delete keys work fine in other applications.
    Thanks!
    Windows 7   LS 9.0.0

    It's quite possible.  Closing the document and then re-opening it somehow magically reset the keys so that they work now.  Thanks for the response, though!

  • My Keyboard and the Delete/Backspace Key

    So last night I was looking through my system settings and making small tweaks here and there where I wanted them. It was a nice little experience. However, I somehow disabled my delete(backspace) key completely. Also other keys like my shift key are suddenly sticking. I have gone back in and tried to restore everything back to factory settings on my keyboard and still nothing. Am I missing something or is there somewhere else I should be looking to fix this besides going into System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>???? I am so confused I do not know what I did.

    Am I missing something or is there somewhere else I should be looking to fix this besides going into System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse
    Yes. "Shift key sticking" sounds like 'Sticky Keys' - check in System Preferences > Universal Access > Keyboard.

  • The "delete Key" removes the character to the left, as a backspace key does, can this changed?

    The "delete Key" removes the character to the left, as a backspace key does, can this changed?

    Yes, hold the FN key down as you hit delete to delete from the right.

  • Middle keys and number line on keyboard produce two characters

    When I press the middle keys (asdf...) or the number line (1234...) on the keyboard of our MacBook it produces two characters - one number and one letter -  instead of just the correct one.  The characters produced on both lines are identical and look like this:   a1s2d3f4g5h6j7k8l9 a1s2d3f4g5h6j7k8l9.  Can anything be done?   It is driving me nuts!

    Hey siirilee,
    Thanks for the question. The following article may help to resolve your issue. You may want to refer to the "Some keys don't work as expected" section:
    One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond

  • IPhone and iPad Built in Delete key and backspace key.

    iPhone and iPad should have built in Delete key besides the backspace key. Due to screen with virtual default keyboard and big finger, it is difficult to position the cursor accurately.  A delete key should be made available to improve productivity.

    First of all, you cannot delete those backup files.  All those files are needed in the event of a "Restore from Backup" is required.  Everytime you do a backup, itunes only update those files with changes made on the phone or iPad only from the last backup. If there are no new changes to certain contents or media, the files will remain untouched in the folder.  This is the reason why you have some files dated as back as one year ago.  Now, even if you have deleted some of those files, a new backup will add those files back during the process.
    As for changing the Default location of the backup folder, you may refer to this link but do at your own risk:

  • Disable Backspace Key

    I'm trying to figure out how to disable the backspace key on
    an input form. Or, I need to figure out why I can't type into an
    input field after I've backspaced(erased) all the
    characters?

    Hmmm... I've not seen where you can't type after deleting all
    the
    characters. Do you maybe have the input set to multiline and
    have the top
    line blocked or something? I don't know that there's an easy
    way to disable
    Backspace for an input field.
