My backward and forward arrows are missing when I download Firefox 4.0
My brother was at my home this past weekend and he downloaded Firefox 4.0 to his Windows Vista laptop and the download worked perfectly. When he downloaded Firefox 4.0 to my Windows Vista desktop, the download is missing the backward and forward arrows are missing and I find it very difficult to use the Firefox application. My brother removed the program and redownloaded the program at least 4 more times and every time the program downloaded with no backward or forward arrows. Both applications were downloaded from the same Firefox 4.0 website. How can this happen and what can be done to correct it?
Try to reset the toolbar customization, see:

As question states, the menu toolbar and bookmark toolbars are missing upon restart.
Both are fully recoverable as customized, but then disappear again upon restart.I deleted the localstore.rdf.
But, I usually run Norton's Utilities 2012 "clean disk" upon closing down computer. The problem is something Norton is doing.
Firefox is storing my configuration/profile related to showing the two toolbars in some fashion (perhaps as a temp file), that Norton is erasing it.
Norton isn't deleting the customization/uniqueness of the toolbars.
Just that they don't show upon restarting.
There is probably a way for Firefox to store this "permanently".
Thanks for the help so far. The fix may not be something Firefox can do. -
The back and forward arrows are greyed out all the time - How can I fix this?
I am currently using firefox ver 21. However the forward and back buttons are greyed out and will not work. I would be happy to re-install the program but how do I re-install without losing all my bookmarks and settings.
Please advise.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Ironically, I made this support account just to ask this question and had to go to IE to verify.
Anyway, Yahoo! Mail use to work almost flawlessly before a couple days ago. Basically, the page loads like normal when I have a good connection except that the ads on the sides are missing, my profile picture is gone, the "fancy" rounded edges of the buttons are nonexistent, none of the menus work or open anything, and all of the links are useless. I have been searching for solutions for two hours now and none of them are relevant or useful:
- Clear cookies = when I cleared cookies, cache and history is when the problem first started;
- Disable Ghostery = I just learned about it today and so never installed it, but I also checked to make sure it wasn't there somehow;
- Start in Safe Mode = the problem is still there and the only change was that it loaded the page faster;
- Disable AVG = I can't because I can't find it anywhere...;
- Disable Security/Change Permissions? = I think this was a suggested solution, but it already allows Yahoo! Mail to load images and set cookies while blocking pop-ups, location sharing, and installing themes/extensions;
- Update Firefox = No. I like my old version. I keep hearing weird and annoying things about updated versions of Firefox, and I'm not going to risk losing everything else just to get Yahoo! Mail back
I started using Firefox (3.6.12) because IE was slow, but ever since I tried clearing the cache, cookies and history Firefox has been going slower. Oddly enough, all of my browsing history was not deleted because certain web pages (that I haven't accessed in ages) show up in the address bar when I go to type. Gmail works in Firefox despite saying my browser isn't supported, but Yahoo! never bothers me about my browsers and now its acting strange.
By the way, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but right before Yahoo! Mail took the usability train off a cliff, it reloaded (because clearing the cookies logged me out), then told me the internet connection was slow and that I can switch to Basic for better results. I decided to stick with Classic and then it "crashed".
Anyone help with this would be appreciated. One of the reasons I switched to FF is because Yahoo! Mail was faster on it, and I'd hate to have to go back to IE...
Thanks in advance!As it turns out, many others have been having similar issues on other browsers. It seems that maybe Yahoo! is taking a much longer time to load or something like that. Either way, its been working on and off all week, and the same issue even showed up yesterday with IE 8 instead of FF. It still loads faster than IE 8, but again is spotty. Some people think the issue may be with mail.yimg.com or s.yimg.com, which I could see was the loading url in the left corner whenever Yahoo! Mail was refusing to work. A couple of people said blocking it caused the issue. Alternatively, some people suggested blocking it to solve the problem. Does anyone have any information on that? Again, I have no add-ons that would be blocking any urls, and my firewall hasn't any records of it. I really don't want to do anything to mess up my browsers more than they may have already been. Thanks for all of your help so far!

the place to type in a web address is missing also no forward or back tabs are available
Click the Bookmarks icon in the Safari toolbar.
On the right hover your cursor just above the line where you see Bookmark and Address. When you see the small white hand drag up or down as needed to reveal your Bookmarks.

Tab scroll arrows are missing when they should be displayed.
I just got upgraded to FF32 because I'd failed to remember to disable updates following my latest clean install.
Now I don't have tab scroll arrows when there are enough tabs to need them.
This happens in a default profile as well as with my normal profile. In my normal profile I use many extensions such as Classic Theme Restorer and Tab Utilities.It seem to me there was a reply here with boilerplate "start with extensions disabled, Safe Mode" info that was deleted.
It appears that in FF32, the Tab Utilities extension makes the tab scroll arrows vanish. Disable it they are present, enable it they go away.
Worked properly yesterday with FF 30. (I think it was 30. Don't recall upgrading to 31.) -
My search bar, back and forward arrows are gone on safari
All of a sudden on my Safari all that shows up are my bookmarks and websites I'm currently on. I looked through preferences for Safari and nothing shows up to put on a search bar. It still shows the search engine on the preferences. I just updated the latest of mavericks yesterday, just wondering if this happened to anyone else and if you know how to fix it.
A wild guess: do you mean the separate search field (besides the URL address field)? If that is it, it was discontinued in Safari; Firefox still has it. It is now one combined search/address field:
You can either do a search or enter a website address. -

However all images are in "images"folder. Same images are missing when previewed in Firefox and Explorer.
Any idea why?
Thanks.Are you sending this other person all of the image files in
the same relative location as they are on your local computer?
For instance, if you are sending them index.html and your
images are in a folder called images, you should be sending them a
Zip file with the following enclosed:
index.html
images (folder)
image1.gif
image2.jpeg
If you are sending this type of structure to your other
party, check the links in code view. Make sure they are relative.
If they are, on the index.html page they would look like
images/image1.gif. If it says anything like C:/ or something that
points to a local drive they you will need to make sure the image
are within the site definition and then save the files

I can't seem to find the bar with "file, edit, view, etc". I can view it if I press "alt", but when I hit any other key it disappears again. The back and forward arrow, house, refresh and "url" space is missing
* In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
* Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

I can no longer back-delete or hit return to make a new paragraph, nor can i use the arrows to go backwards and forwards in a line; it's like the fn key is stuck; i've taken it off and cleaned it, and it looked clean.
Then it's time for a new keyboard. If you are still under warranty, call AppleCare.

In my Finder window, the picture icons that usually show up next to the items are not there. i.e. in my sidebar, the little pictures that are usually by the Application, Desktop, Documents, etc items. Also, the back and forward arrows, list items and tasks don't show as well. Any ideas on how to get them back?
