My bank has changed login: i need to disable popup blockers - how?
I contacted Charter (my carrier) and was told to go to Tools and there was to be "Popup blocker" and I could do it there, but there is nothing that says "Popup blocker". I am not much into computers and I am at a loss as to what to do.
You may also have a pop-up blocker installed that is part of a "security suite", which may block a pop-up before it even gets to Firefox.

I found an old Applie ID on a computer I use infreqently with an old IPod. I do not have the password for this AppleID. When I use the procedure to reset the password, I cannot receive the email as my email address has changed from the original used with the Apple ID. How can I get the reset information sent to my current email addres so I can establish a new passwod for this Applie ID?
FR Tecmobility is wrong, sure he means well but what he suggests will not work - signing out of iTunes Store and back in will have no effect on iCloud. Try the steps at iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
You may need to contact apple tech support if none of the password change methods work for you. Ask for Account Security. They will need to verify identity, to ensure you are who you claim to be. If that goes well, they can send a password rest e-mail to any e-mail you desigate, so make sure it is one you can access. Then reset the password. Then you can delete the iCloud account (needs the password to turn off find My Phone/Activation lock)

I tried changing my Aplle ID on two devices before but I could not get the second device connected. I ended up resetting my accounts restore it. Any suggestions?
When you connect that iPad to iTUnes, go to the summary page and scroll down, there should be a box saying 'automatically update' or something to that effect. De select that.
With automatically update on, what you buy on one goes onto the other. but with that box off you can choose.
On the iPad itself, it's under
Settings
iTUnes and App Stores
and then you can choose what you want automatically updated between the two devices. -
I'm having trouble connecting to wifi. It doesn't recognize any of the networks I usually connect with, including my own. Can anyone help?
Try reboot your router, update router firmware from the manufacturer website.
In iPhone's Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try reconnect again to your Wi-Fi.
Lastly, do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data. -
SMS works well and is generally free for most plans here. I'd like to be able to send messages via SMS from my iPhone for many of these contacts because something changed in IOS 8 iMessage and now iMessages seem to get lost. Plus as before they can end up in multiple threads. This latter issue seems to be worse as well with iOS8 but not sure why.
For example one friend set up an iPad with her apple ID and subsequently gave it to her son. She also has an iPhone. I've been exchanging iMessage/SMS's with her which worked fine until the upgrade. Then she stopped getting my messages on her iPhone. Turns out that they were landing on the iPad. While it may be that she doesn't have things sorted correctly on her iPhone that doesn't change the fact that prior to iOS8 she could get my messages. So I'd like to designate her and a number of other contacts as SMS only.
Additionally I am seeing more multiple threads from the same contacts. Not sure why but it seems to have something to do with iOS 8 sucking in additional email addresses, e.g. @icloud.com and subsequently using these in some messages even though the contact is the same person. I've tried adding the new email address into the contact card I have on file for that person and this simply resulted in two threads with the same contact name.
Really what is up with this and why does Messages need to keep track of all this info? The only requirement to direct a message between to iDevices should be valid Apple ID's on both with a means to reference this (Phone Number, Apple ID Email Address) in the respective contact. In the absence of this the message should be sent as SMS.I have the same problem on iOS 7.0.3. With one particular friend I receive iMessages from her just fine and I can send her iMessages from Mac OS X and Messages on iPad, but Messages on my iPhone keep sending her my messages as Text messages. I send iMessages just fine from the same iPhone. SFChuch, what ios version is your recipient using? Did they sign up on iCloud? I wonder if the problem happens with recipients who are not properly registered on iCloud or some special case like that.

Also, when looking at all the instructions that referred to the Firefox box, I did not see it and I do not ever remember seeing the Firefox box at the top of the page.

My ipod once got formatted. Now I hear low sound from my ipod.First, make sure your headphones are working properly. You can try them with another device, or try a different set with your shuffle.
If the headphones are fine, go to the shuffle's Settings or Summary screen in iTunes. It's the screen that appears when you select the shuffle in iTunes. There is a Limit maximum volume setting there. Make sure that slider bar did not get set to a low volume.
If that does not help, you can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the Settings or Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If the cause is related to a problem with software or settings, the Restore should fix it.
If that does not help either, there may be a hardware-related problem on your shuffle. -
