My Bars are all stacked one on top of the other ie ASK A QUESTIONS, under that: File, Edit, History etc, under that Mozilla Firefox start page, tab tab etc. This uses 1/3 of my screen, can I make it all one bar
I don't know how to insert a screen shot of my problem but as described above, right now I have 5 bars on top of my window.
1. Ask a question under that
2. File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help under that
3; Mozilla Firefox start page (tab Ask a Question)
under that
4. Address line (www.you ask me.com) under that
5. Latest headlines, most visited, City of Balch Springs etc.
I don't want all these bars and I don't want all that window space used.
What ever you can do to help will be GREATLY appreciated

I am not sure about everything, but there is something that may fix some of your problems. Go to System Preferences, and choose the "Universal Access" preference pane. In Universal Access, turn off VoiceOver, Zoom (seeing tab), Sticky Keys, Slow Keys (Keyboard tab), and Mouse Keys (Mouse tab). Make sure the "Enable access for assistive devices" checkbox, which is at the bottom of the preference pane. From there, look at other options and see if they are things you want turned off, or changed from how they are set. If you don't know what different options do, click on the help icon at the bottom left corner of the window. And if you are still baffled, ask here and someone will tell you what it does.
If you use any of the universal access options or think they could be useful, feel free to leave them on.
Also, go to the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane, choose the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, and make sure there are no strange keyboard shortcuts set that may interfere with the keys you are having issues with.
Did you install any new software before this started happening, and if so, how many days before it started happening?

I like the Mozilla Firefox Start Page and I do find Google fairly useful (albeit that I have dumped Chrome for Firefox due to Google's constant badgering to sign-up to their social network "circles" etc) - but my gripe is that I am redirected to google.fr NOT google.co.uk (my 1st preference) or google.com (2nd preference). Yes, I am located in France. No, I am not French and most of the information I am looking for is contained on UK or US web pages. I found the same problem with the provided Google search engine in the top right bar, so removed it in favour of Yahoo (which I am not a fan of either!). Any advice would be gratefully received. Thx.

One of the reasons I abandoned Chrome in favour of Firefox was due to the "black band of doom" that appears on the top of the Google page - so setting up my homepage to google.co.uk just puts that back in the ugly spotlight.
I was, though, pleasantly surprised to see a Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page (without the black band and Google options that I am just not interested in) but bitterly disappointed that it is Google.fr (due to my ISP being French).
I shall learn to live with Yahoo (or worse case scenario, Bing!)

I've got the exact same issue! I'm pretty sure it just started today too. It's so bizarre because we've all been using Firefox 26.0 for at least a month, right? How could the ''about:home'' page all of a sudden cause this issue?
I've been able to replicate this issue on a virtual machine running Windows XP SP3, so clearly it has nothing to do with Windows 7. -
In the examples I have looked at in FAQ there is an orange box up at the top of the screen when Mozilla Foxfire opens; mine has the name of whichever tab I am on, including having the tab. I like the tabs. The duplicate name at the top looks like a status bar and covers up part of my chosen design.

Whenever I launch Firefox, multiple tabs also start to open along with the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, which is very irritating. How can I stop this to happen each time I launch the browser?

It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />

I'm having problems like a lot of others with Google as it has removed it's 'UK only' button from it's home/search screen. I prefer the Google Mozilla Firefox Start Page as it gives me the options I need. On the Firefox toolbar search box, which drops down to give search engine options, can I link the Mozilla Firefox Start Page to this box? Thankyou.

How can I make Mozilla Firefox Start Page use Google search instead of SearchCompletion search?
I have just upgraded Firefox 9 to 10. I noticed when I fire up Firefox at the Start Page and enter a query at the search bar, the resulting pages are from SearchCompletion engine.

Seems like one of those irritating changes that happens when upgrading versions...Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

Display 2 images - one on top of the other
I am currently overriding paint and using createImage to pull images from files, and Graphics.drawImage to display the 2 images in a panel, with one completely on top of the other, obscuring it. There is a significant "flash" because it looks like 1) paint is being called twice; and 2) the "foreground" image is being drawn first and then the "background" image is being drawn. Most of the time, that is. The order seems to be determined by something beyond me. In paint I am calling Graphics.drawImage(background params..) and then Graphics.drawImage(foreground params...)
Here is my question: How can I get this to look good? I cannot use a LayeredPane; the program is supposed to be light weight, J2SE. Can I somehow combine the images before displaying them? Like, write on on top of the other, and then display the result? I don't need to save the result.
OR, is there a way to draw the background image once, and then up date the foreground image when necessary? My background image is constant and the foregrounds change...
I'm not very up on Java 2D. Should I be using Graphics2D and BufferedImage? What other classes should I use or look at?

It’s best to change preferences and then cascade and the other options become available.

For the past month, every time I open Firefox, the Mozilla Start Page (with Google in the middle) takes over my home page setting (NY Times). How can I stop this from happening?
To the extent that I could, I tried the above, despite the lack of clarity at times. For example, how do the uninitiated find "sessionstore.js" and "sessionstore.bak" and the Firefox profile folder? Assuming that I eventually find them, what in the world does "check for problems" mean?
