My battery drains VERY quickly, I'm having to plug in twice a day!

Hi
Its becoming incresingly annoying that I'm having to charge my iPhone twice a day. Its always 100% at the start of the day and come around tea time its down to around 30%. I do use it for whatsapp but thats about it during the day and after having an iPhone 3 & 4 I've never experienced such issues. I was told the battery life was improved with the iPhone 5?
My main point is that its not always been like this and with having over a year left on my contract I need to nip this in the bud before it gets any worse.
Things I have tried so far (To no avail)
Closing all apps that are open.
Lowered my screen brightness (I can only just see it)
Any suggestions as neither of the above two have worked.
Cheers
Gareth

That is what happens when a battery powered device is used often.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
A simple search of the forums would have revealed the same information.

  • IPod touch 5 battery drains very quickly even when not used

HI , I got a new iPod touch 5 for Christmas and let the battery drain before charging to 100%.
within a very short period of time and without using the iPod  , (poss 2 - 3 hours ) the iPod was completly flat and would not even show the charging symbol. I charged it again and the same happened again , i did update the iPod during this time so it is currently running the latest iOS , I have tried a hard reset but still the battery drains very quickly without using the iPod at all. It is currently pretty useless as the battery life is so short !!!

When I plug my iPad up to charge it says not charging, and my battery drains very quickly what can I do to fix?

There are two different types of adapters by Apple that look similar. One is a 5 Watt adapter used with iPhones and iPods. The other is a 10 Watt adapter used with the iPad. Other than looking at the text on the adapter, which is hard to read, you can tell the different by looking at the socket the pin part plugs into the adapter. The 5 Watt has two notches and the 10 Watt has only one notch.
Make sure you use the 10 Watt adapter with an iPad.

What kind of ipad mini / ipad 2 you got?
    AFAIK,
    1. ipads drain battery with 3g/4g on (regardless on wifi or not) 1% overnight.. so for 7 days .. 65 is about correct.
    2. Are your ipads setup to receive remote push notification? (more push = more battery drain.. as the screen lit up)
    3. With iOS 6 vs iOS 4 .. there are more stuff running in the background and more toggles.. that could also contribute to battery drain.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - Battery draining very quickly

Since installing iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6 the battery has started to drain very quickly with little to no use. Anybody else having the same problem

I too was having some serious battery drain on IOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5S. The phone kept getting warm (like I was using maps navigation) I think I just fixed it.  On the hunch that it had to be something with location services I went to the following location in my phones settings: Settings->Privacy->Location Services now scroll all the way down and Click System Services. Disable Cell Network Search, Setting Time Zone, and Wifi Networking. You can also try disabling these one at a time. I really don't need these services so I disabled them all.
Your phone should now cool down and hold a charge like it did before, mine does. Here are what those settings you are disabling do:
Cell Network Search:This tracks cell tower usage and congestion, and sends the data back to Apple for analysis as to what towers are being used the most, how you move between cell towers, and which ones are overused. It does not help your phone locate a cell tower. Turning this off will not affect your phone’s performance, according to Apple.
Setting Time Zone:Your time zone will be instantly adjusted according to your geographic location. Ever notice how as soon as you turn on your phone after a long flight, it displays the local time perfectly, even before getting cell signal? It’s this setting. If you turn it off, you’ll lose that functionality.
Wi-Fi Networking:This particular setting is interesting, and requires some explanation. As you move around a city, your iPhone is constantly picking up WiFi signals. It geotags that data (“XYZ WiFi is at this GPS location”), encrypts it so that it is anonymous and unique (otherwise the data would look like all hotspots are named “linksys”), and stores it as what Apple calls “crowdsourced Wi-Fi Hotspot locations”. Next time someone walks by that exact hotspot, their iPhone will know where they are without using GPS – because you basically already “marked” the area. Shutting this setting off will stop that info from being sent to Apple. It will not affect your phone’s performance.

  • Update my iphone and now the battery drains very quickly

update my iphone and now the battery drains very quickly

my battery started draining after 4 or 5 hours on iPhone 4 8GB with little or no use. It was suggested in some of the threads I consulted that it might be related to a server malfunction on an email account, and to delete the account, hard boot the phone, and re-install the account, Sure enough, this worked for me. Charged at 100% at 11pm and got up next morning at 6am at 100% ( turned the email push notifications to OFF as well ) The previous 2 days I would get up and there would be less 10% battery life. A few days before this problem started my email provider had a server issue with Outlook, I couldnt get emails to and from that account to load on my iphone, so I suspect that this was the problem; iphone and or email provider was still trying to get those emails and this was causing the drain.

  • IPhone 5 battery drains very quickly

I've had an iPhone 5 for about a year and a half and it all of a sudden started draining really quickly.  Without using it outside of a few texts, it is at 50% by noon.  With use, it easily completely drained by then.  Also, I have noticed a few odd things regarding charging my phone: I receive  a "this accessory is not meant for this device and may not charge" error and when plugged into my car charger, it alternates between charging and not charging rapidly, just making the battery drain even faster.  I replaced the car charger, and no longer have this problem, but recently had the same problem when trying a new external portable charging source.  I've stopped using the particular cord that gave me the error, and think this has solved the problem.  Just mentioning both these issues as I've never had problems with them before.
Here are the things I've tried to fix the problem:
Tested battery at Apple.  First time was deemed okay, the next week they said it was borderline failing (80%).
Replaced the battery by buying a battery online ($25, and relatively well rated).  Continued to see problems.
Updated settings (remove location services, switch off bluetooth and wifi, turn off push for all email accounts, you name it I've tried it).  Although I tried these things, I did have a phone with all these settings turned on for a year and a half and still had a battery that would last me through the day, so I don't think settings alone are the problem.
Restored phone to factory settings (not to previous iphone back up).  This was to address any software bugs that could be causing the problem.
Replaced battery with a second battery bought online (bought the highest rated battery I could find).
Took phone into iPhone repair store.  They looked at the inside of the phone and said it looked good.  Replaced battery again.
After all of this, my battery still drains super quickly.  I do not think it the battery since I've replaced it three times and don't think it is the software since I did a restore to factory settings.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be?  I've tried everything I could think of and need to squeeze another 5 months out of this phone until I'm eligible for the upgrade.  Right now I have an external battery pack, but this is a bit of a pain to charge and carry around.
A friend of a friend has had some similar issues and they said they had the lightning connector replaced, and it solved the problem.  Anyone have any experience with this?
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I have been round and round with Apple "geniuses" trying to resolve battery drainage issues. I have turned off all kinds of background programs, reset the phone and even did a full restore. Nothing worked. The end result was an Apple senior technician just giving up and telling me that the battery life I'm getting is "good." I don't see how that's the case since I used to go to work, use my phone and come home with battery power still in the 70s or 60s if I was really active. Now with most everything turned off, I come home with battery power in the 30s and sometimes even the 20s, just barely hanging on to operational status. I now have to carry my charger around with me and charge this hunk of junk every opportunity I get. The diagnostic on the battery shows it to be fine which is not surprising considering I take very good care of my phone. I had no issues until installing that battery sucking virus known as iOS 8.1. I am so utterly disappointed with Apple that I will never buy any of their junk products again. I am especially angry at being told that the life I'm getting is somehow "good." I imagine that no one actually tested iOS 8.1 before rolling it out. They finished the last line of code and immediately issued it to the public. My interactions with Apple Support confirm that they only care about people who have purchased their latest product. Have an iPhone 5? Too bad! You need to get the iPhone 6 to continue enjoying your Apple experience. Screw their overpriced crap.

  • IPod Battery Drains Very Quickly - NEW BATTERY 3 TIMES

    Hello all,
I have a problem with my iPod 5G 60gb video. I've had it for a few years, about a year ago it started losing its battery very quickly. I replaced the battery 2 or 3 times, but this did nothing. I can charge it up fine, but it seems it drains much quicker than normal. The main problem is that it drains even when the iPod is in sleep mode. If I leave it overnight, it will be dead in the morning.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a motherboard problem? I'm sure it's not the battery.
    Thanks.

    I forgot to add:
I restored the iPod via iTunes once, nothing changed. I turned backlight down all the way, no significant difference. I have no alarm clocks on, and turned off all clocks on the iPod as well.

  • I update my IOs to 6.1.3 but the battery drain very quick, wich on a previous IOs fw doesn´t happend. Can I get a downgrade of the fw to 6.1.2 or the default like when I buy my device?

I buy my device on december, and work fine.
Then, this march I upgrade my IOs to 6.1.3 and the batery drain very very quick, instead almost 40hrs of music, it only works for 24 or wich a very good luck for 30hrs even changing all the settings to use less batery and only play music. It seems that is a bug by the fw. There is a way to downgrade the fw to the factory settings like IOs 6.1.2 or lower?

All I can say in this Apple forum is that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • BlackBerry Z10 - battery drains very quickly even in standby

I have had two Blackberry Z10 phones, and at work the signal is little to none at times and the battery drains and I am not even using the phone. All email accounts and other services have been set to manual update only. A friend of mine had the exact same phone but an AT&T phone mine was Verizon. He had no problem with his in the same office and the same building. Is this a CDMA only problem or a Verizon problem? Love the phones and the way they work but the battery life at work is bad, at home where the signal is 3g and pretty steady I had no probems. I am due for an upgrade in June and am trying to find out if the Z30 for Verizon has the same problem. I have used a windows phone with the same size battery and a bigger screen same location same carrier with more use and no problem.
    Thanks

What Android apps do you have installed?
Try this first off, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Watch your device another day and see how it goes.

  • Since updating to 7.0.6 my battery drains very quickly why?

Since updating to 7.0.6 my battery drains within hours, why? I googled why this may be happening and I have turned off all things that don't need to be running and still my battery isn't lasting me 6 hours. Can you replace the batteries in the 4S phones?

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
Also check your settings for sound again after that.
