You are still under warranty and/or have AppleCare, call them.  Let them deal w/it.

  • Macbook Pro Battery Is Not Charging but Condition: Normal

    Hi,
This question may have been answered but I couldn't find any information about problems with the same symptoms as my own. My 2010 MacbookPro battery is not charging but the green light on the adaptor is green when plugged in. Laptop will die if power adaptor is removed. Have attempted SMC restart but still receiving following information.
    Battery Information:
      Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          0
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          No
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          0
      Health Information:
      Cycle Count:          0
      Condition:          Normal
      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          0
      Voltage (mV):          0
Condition is NORMAL but the Cycle Count has been reduced to 0 which it definitely is not after about 20 months of use but I cannot tell what the actual Cycle
Count is for obvious reasons. I'd rather not have to get a new battery but am aware this could be neccessary. Was just curious if anybody else had experienced
a similar problem and if they had it resolved as I cannot get to an Apple store for at least a month!
    Thanks for the help.

A new development has just occured. I noticed the light on the adaptor suddenly turned orange. Now the battery is showing the following:
    Battery Information:
      Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh):          5541
      Fully Charged:          No
      Charging:          Yes
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh):          6492
      Health Information:
      Cycle Count:          205
      Condition:          Normal
      Battery Installed:          Yes
      Amperage (mA):          1839
      Voltage (mV):          12369
Ever seen anything like this before? Problem with the connectors or circuit fault as you suggested?

  • Battery will not charge. and other issues

Well i'm working on a friend of mines notebook, its a n100 model 0768 12u running windows xp. This is the situation so far. First his hard drive had fried so i replaced that and put the o.s. back on it,but now the battery will not charge. also the wireless network card and dvd drive did not work. I had originally thought that they might have fried as well when the hard drive went down. However I looked through the forums here and found that alot of people solved the battery issue simply by replacing the battery i recommended that. He purchased a replacement battery ( not a genuine lenovo battery, don't know if that makes a difference) and when i put it in the dvd drive and the network card started working no problem. But alas the battery still would not charge. the system runs fine without a battery in it, but if i put the battery in it while its running it turns itself off after about 30 seconds of having the battery in. when the system is powered off and i put the battery in the battery lcd in front blinks 5 times orange then nothing for about 30 seconds then 5 more times. maybe thats a trouble code, don't know, looked all oover the forums and couldn't find anything quite like it. any help would be greatly appreciated.
     thanks
    Steve

    Duck3,
Glad that worked for you!  Thanks for sharing here.
I saw a weird situation on friend's ThinkPad recently - a replacement battery arrived with a 37% charge (not 100% deliberately as somewhere around 40% is the best for shelf life), but it would not accept a charge.   We did a reset by removing the battery & AC and pressing and holding the power button a number of times  (some people say 10 times, some two or three times for a count of 5 or 10).   This drains residual capacitance.
We plugged back in the battery and AC and it began to charge.
Might be worth a try here before he opens it up ....

  • Toshiba Portege Problem: *Battery is not charging and web camera initialization failed.*

    Hi,
I am having problems with my Toshiba Portege laptop. 1) Once laptop opens, window appears which says, "Web camera initialization failed. Please check your camera device and restart application or computer." Not sure what happened why the web cam application did not run properly. 2) Battery won't charge. When clicking the battery icon, it just says, "0% available plugged in, charging." I  can not open my laptop when the cord is unplugged.
Appreciate if you can help me or any advice.
    Thanks,

always good to tell what Portege and what system is running...
    anyway -

an autostart process requests the camera, maybe Skype?
some web cams on USB ports do take some time
been initialised especially when attached via hub.
Windows boot sequences do not wait until they finished.
if the camera is working after a while than thats here the

forget the software symbol for the purpose of the question -
on any notebook you should see a battery symbol/LED
somewhere on the case. its yellowish/orange when
charging green when battery is full.  if it doesn't change into green
(overnight charging) the battery is faulty or even missing...

I have had it where the screen goes black and the plug wont show a light and it wont charge. The condition of the battery is Replace Soon. I dont know what it is.
    Please Help. Thank you!

'Replace Battery" means you need a  new battery.
Take it to the Apple store as soon as possible.
Mac is in limited warranty for 1 year from the date of purchase.
If the battery is found to be defective, it will be replaced free while Mac is in warranty.
Take the Mac to the Apple store.

  • HT3964 what if the battery is not charging and the LED light is off, what should I do

Should I buy a new adaptor?

You charger could be bad...do you have another one to test? You can try resetting your SMC:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If that doesn't work, & you don't have another charger to try, make an appointment at an Apple store. Take both computer & charger.

How long was it off charge to drop from 5149 to 1054 mAh on the battery?
If not actually doing anything looks like a good reason to visit an Apple Retail store genius bar and have it checked.

  • Equium M50 - The battery will not charge

Hi, I need some advice regarding a charging problem on my PC.
The battery will not charge and the level indicator shows a constant 5%.
The machine is about 15months old and does not get hard usage, probably an average of 5-10 hours per week.Usually it's powered from the mains, so the battery tends to be kept topped up.
Before I go and replace the battery, is there any diagnostic I can do as a user?
    Looking forward to a reply.
    many thanks
    Steve

    Hi,
no, I dont think that it will makes any sense to perform some diagnosis because it sounds like a hardware related issue and I think it would be better to bring your machine to a authorized service partner for a hardware checkup or probably a exchange of the malfunctioning components.
To find the nearest available service partner in your country you can try this link:

  • Battery not charging although condition "good" AND date reset to 1970...

Hi Guys, Hope someone can help me out here.
I've got a powerbook model power PC G4, 1,25 GHz.
Out of the blue my battery won't charge anymore, although in the systems profile the battery is indicated as condition: Good. But the system also says "not charging". The battery itself also doesnot give any green lights. It looks totally empty.
The strange thing is that the adapter ring is on green although it is not charging and as i have powered-off and on again, my date setting goes to 1/1/1970???
I don't have a clue what's going on. Anyone here to help me out?
    Much appreciated.
    Anthony

Your date is set to the default for your machine because your internal backup battery (sometimes called the PRAM battery) is drained, along with the main battery. This indicates that no power from the AC adapter is reaching the batteries, even though you are apparently able to run the machine on AC power. That in turn suggests that the charging system is kaput.
You can tryresetting the Power Management Unit, which is supposed to take care of distributing power where it's needed. If that doesn't resolve the problem, see whether a different, known-good AC adapter will charge the battery. If you don't have access to one, take your machine to an Apple Store — they'll have one to test with. If that works properly, replace your AC adapter. But I doubt that that's the problem if you can run your machine off your own adapter. More likely the fault is inside the machine. Take the two steps described above and then post back here with results.

  • HT3964 Installed a new battery for a Macbook 2,1 New battery not charging. Battery symbol shows (Not charging) and replace battery. Green LED on magsafe connection. Disconnection results in an instant shutdown.

I have just installed a new Battery after the old one showed (Not Charging) and when you clicked on this icon the dropdown"condition replace now". Problem now is the computer still shows the same message in the top bar (Not Charging) and the dropdown also shows "condition relace now". the magsafe show the greem LED i.e not charging, but providing power. If you disconnect the magsafe the computer powers off instantly confirming we have power. I have carried out resetting the SMC controller and still no change. Tested the standby voltage on the magsafe pins etc, all in spec. What should I do now, as I don't want to keep spending more and more. Bellow is the info from the system profiler.

    Hi all,
I tried a different charger myself (the power source is reliable). But it does not work too. I think I need to bring it down to apple shop.
But is quite disappointing with the new apple product I have. Cos not only my battery is not charging, my built in speaker, the sound is like broken too. So I can hear some noisy sound when I play music.
I have a power book G4, and the power book, everything is still in good condition. Imagine how many yrs I have with the power book G4. This power book I never bring to do any services before. I sometimes really suspect is it Apple drop quality
(cos the office new bought mac from my boss, the USB port is not working too..)
But thanks all for the reply I think I need to bring it down to apple shop. Thanks!

can you please tell me whats wrong with my mbp and how do i resolve it

First check the connections on the power adapter and the MBP.  Make certain that they are clean and see if the spring loaded connectors on the power adapter are not stuck.
    Try a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
If available, try another power adapter.
If no success, bring the MBP and the power adapter to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.
