My battery is screwed. May I be eligible for a battery replacement?

Hi everyone.
My brother brought me from the U.S. a MCP 15" dated mid 2007. The battery is completely screwed up. I can't get it to stabilize calibrating it (sometimes max charge is 2800, sometimes 1800) and the computer keeps on shutting down without warning. I read there have been some problems with MCP batteries. Do you think I might be able to have it replaced, or maybe have a discount on the new battery?
Bye

I hope you are luckier than me.
I'm from Italy, I have a Macbook Pro I bought in February 2007, and since a month ago I had exactly the same problem you describe in your post.
I called the Italian Apple customer support number and after the PRAM reset attempt, and based on my MBP serial number, they decided I was not eligible for a free replacement of my battery. I could not get them explain why, since all symptoms were the same as required in the Apple Support web page.
I ended up buying the replacement battery, after a second attempt in an official Apple Care support shop in Milan, were they confirmed I was not eligible for a free replacement, but were not able to explain why...
So probably Apple sets additional requirements not described in the Apple web page for a free replacement (Apple Care Plan required ? - purchasing date ? - Macbook Pro serial number ?).

  • Am I still eligible for an iPhone replacement..?

I've had this phone for around 2 years? Anyways, I was just wondering if I could still be eligible for an iPhone replacement and I did purchase the Apple Care which expires in April 2013. The reason why I'm asking is because during the summer of 2012 I had to replace my iPhone due to a microphone issue and I did get a new one.
However, the SAME exact problem is occuring again (Jan 17. 2013) and since my Apple Care hasn't expired yet.. am I still eligible for a second iPhone 4 replacement without any charge?
Thanks in advanced! I appreciate all your answers...!

Due o he device bein out of warranty it is not eligible for a free replacement. It is eligible for an Out of Warranty Replacement at the normal cost, $149 for the iPhone 4 and older models, $199 for the 4S.

  • Could I be eligible for a phone replacement if I file under a battery issue?

I just got my phone and I honestly turn off everything I need, only turning things on when I need them. I am aware of all background app refreshing, iTunes automatic updating & all the little things Apple has in their iPhones. I just got this phone 1 or 2 weeks only and I have noticed my battery just drops when I don't even use it. I would just leave it locked/on standby and I would check again and the battery would drop 2%. I would use my phone nonstop for about 5 minutes and it drops about 1-4% each time. I have an iPhone 5s that's brand new and I don't think it should be having issues like this.
Under the 1 year warranty, could I go bother the **** out of the people at the Genius Bar and have a chance at getting a new phone?

The folks at the Genius Bar would be the ones who would determine if your phone will be replaced under warranty. You would not be bothering them by making an appointment. It's what they are there for. The appointment itself won't cost you anything.
    Best of luck.

  • Is my iPhone 5 eligible for a free replacement under the warranty or will I need to pay?

I cracked my iPhone 5 screen a while back and it was working fine so I didn't get a replacement then because I didn't fancy paying a stupid amount of money when it wasn't truly necessary. Recently, however the battery hasn't been working properly and there's a big yellow spot under my screen... is this covered by my warranty or not?

Very likely not covered.  Only Apple can tell you for sure.

  • Ipod touch 4g has broken pins and the hold button is defective, is it eligible for off warranty replacement  online it says it'd be $99.99

    i have an ipod touch 4g 16gb ios 6.1.5.
the dock port pins are damaged badly, music has not played for a while but is come and go now. dont know why (without headphones)
and the hold button doesn't work,  will apple still honor the "off warranty replacement thingy" i had issues with my old ipod (not dock issues)
i know they check the dock port on arrival, but i need to know if the ipod will qualify or not
    thanks in advance

Almost assuredly the answer is yes.  Take it to an Apple store for replacement or contact them using the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page.

  • HT1933 my 9 year old used my password to make a purchase that she thought was $0.99 and it was really $99.00 and I just got the email. It tells me that this purchase is not eligible for a refund so am I screwed?

If the iTunes Store has replied to your request and told you that they cannot refund your money, then yes, I'm afraid you're out of luck as regards this purchase. To prevent this from happening again, turn off "In App purchases" in the Restrictions settings on your iPhone. You may also want to turn off the ability to install apps, to prevent purchases in case the child gets hold of your iTunes Store account information, and set the password to be required immediately. • "No batteries available" on my Macbook and not eligible for battery replace

I turned on my Macbook with AC power after returning holidays. I realized it couldn't charge itself, and the battery indicator showed "X" with "No batterries available."
I went to apple store and had genius bar, but my Macbook is not eligible for battery replacement program even though I bought it between February 2006 and April 2007.
Is there any suggestion that I can get battery replacement with free of charge ?

The life of the battery is typically around 500 full-charge cycles. See the following:

  • Apple Claiming my Battery is not eligible for replacement????

So I have a Macbook that I purchased back in 2007 (warranty expired in Feb 08)...anyway I only just realised last week that my battery had become deformed....so onto the web I treak to find that Apple was running a +"MacBook and MacBook Pro Battery Update"+ which as it reads in applicable to my situation.
link to the website - http://www.apple.com/au/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
Now while this update was posted back in october 2007 there is no date to state that is program has ended or that there is any cutoff date for claims. The site also clearly states +"you will receive a new battery, free of charge, even if your MacBook or MacBook Pro is out of warranty."+
So off to my local mac service centre in Newcastle where the helpful staff (who I have been dealing with for nearly 15 years) tell me that they suspect that Apple will replace it no problems....so here is the problem...the staff call me today to tell me that Apple have decided that it is not eligible for replacement...why?, the service centre was not told.
What I want to know is, why would Apple say it is not eligible when the website clearly states that it should be??
I am going to ring Apple tomorrow personally but was wondering if others had the same issue, if so what did you do ? and did it get resolved??
    Cheers

+*What I want to know is, why would Apple say it is not eligible when the website clearly states that it should be??*+
It would actually appear that the website "clearly" states that it would not be eligible:
+*This program extends repair coverage on the battery for up to two years from the date of purchase of the computer for Intel Core Duo-based MacBook and MacBook Pro computers.*+
The program was also, as indicated, for the original Core Duo machines, not the later released Core 2 Duo machines. As your signature indicates you have a Core 2 machine, I expect that you would also not qualify under that section.
You indicated that your warranty expired in February of '08 which would mean it was purchased in February of '07. If the program extends the battery warranty for two years from the date of purchase, that extended coverage would expire in February '09.
While Apple certainly can choose to replace your battery if they wish, they are under no obligation to do so. Even if you were still within that period, there is no guarantee that the battery would be replaced as stated by:
+*An Apple technical support representative or an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will determine if the battery is eligible for replacement, free of charge.*+

My old phone doesn't turn and I want to get the serial number for it to see if it's eligible for the battery replacement with Apple. Can I use the IMEI number to find the serial number?

Call applecare.  They can look up the IMEI number in their system to see if the device is eligible.

  • My iPhone 5's serial number isn't eligible for iPhone 5 battery replacement program, but clearly has battery problem.  Help?

I was relieved and not at all surprised to find out that Apple was recalling certain iPhone 5s for battery replacement.  I was sure mine was one affected.  (My battery doesn't last more than 4-5 hours after a full charge at normal use.)
Having entered my serial number on this page: https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/  I was told that my phone wasn't eligible.
I sincerely think my phone has a defective battery and that the range of serial numbers should be broadened beyond what Apple calls a "very small percentage of iPhone 5 devices."
Anyone know how I can get Apple to help here?

I have the same problem with a iPhone 5c which was purchased last fall (2013) after the Replacement Program time frame. It drains with minimal use.
We have several iPhone4's, 2-3 years old, which have never had this issue.
From reading all of these responses/questions, Apple really needs to address this issue for all 5's. This is a big problem, when the phone is completely unreliable.

  • I bought MainStage2 on May 30 2013, Am I eligible for upgrade to MainStage 3

I see today the new MainStage3 was released. I was unaware this was coming. Now, what is my eligiblity for upgrade to MainStage3? I just bought MainStage2 on May 30th of this year.
    Thanks,
    Allen

Just to let everyone know, I reached out to Apple through the online process and Apple resolved this!!! I should get a refund in 7 to 10 days. This will allow me to purchase MainStage 3.
Now the plus was that I was able to present Apple with all my details regarding the original purchase and that along with being a n00b with Apple may have helped.
Apple Customer Service was a pleasure to work with and I won't hesitate to engage again if needed.
Apple also supplied me with the following:

  • "You may not be eligible" - anyone still having problems?

Is anyone still having the problem when trying to apply for the $100 credit?
Are you getting the "You may not be eligible" page, even though you know you are?
Have you heard back from iPhone support or [email protected]?
I haven't, I also havne't heard back from the manager from the 5th ave Apple Store. I just want to know what is going on and whether or not anyone else is still having problems or if anyone else has found a REAL solution?
PLEASE DO NOT START BLASTING THIS POST, I WOULD LIIKE TO FIND A SOLUTION WITHOUT PEOPLE COMPLAINING AND GETTING THIS POST REMOVED.
    THANKS,
    Gabe

I was able to get my credit this weekend after being told I was initially ineligible.
Turns out, as I assumed, someone entered in the wrong iPhone serial number for my device at AT&T so Apple never got the correct number.
So, here's what I did to fix it.
I had emailed [email protected] but I also called AT&T and got transferred to the iPhone AppleCare folks. I explained to them that I had never returned my phone, never got a replacement, and that I couldn't have a replacement phone because the IMEI number on my AT&T receipt (there was no iPhone serial number on my receipt, just the IMEI) and the IMEI on the back of my iPhone match. This is the number AT&T uses to validate my iPhone is a working device on their network.
Anyway, after explaining this to the AppleCare folks, I was placed on hold for a good 15 minutes. When she returned she gave me a case number and told me to call Apple Customer Relations during business hours. However, about 2 hours later my credit worked on the web site. About 6 hours later I received an email from [email protected] that they fixed the data problem and I could get my credit. But by that time I'd already spent it =)
So, the best thing for you to do is call AppleCare. If you don't get the resolution you're looking for, call back. I had to call a total of 5 times before getting a case number and before I got my credit.
    Good luck!

  • Battery Replacement Zen Stone Plus

Li-Poly batteries last approximately 3 years after manufacturing (charged or not). So if your Zen Stone ceases to function and it has not been abused, it'ss likely a dead ? no longer can be charged - battery.
I purchased a battery (actually 3 to meet their $ minimum) from allbattery.com? Polymer Li-Ion Battery 3.7V 240mAh. Order it with NO PCB option. $3.99 each plus shipping. After they arri'ved, I note the brand name is ?Tenergy. Original battery specs from Creative are 280mAh, a nominal difference. Specifications I didn?t have were charging requirements, but I?m happy to report they recharge seemingly identical from the Creative OEM batteries.
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0[/img]<tr><td>This battery replacement takes some skill and is, obviously at your own risk. Suggest examining ribbon cable prior to ordering batteries. My unit is a Zen Stone Plus with Speaker.

    BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
Run Exacto knife or small utility knife around sides and end NOT including end opposite display (or you will cut through a ribbon cable) penetrating no more than 0.075 (/6th inch) to split case of Zen Stone. It may be necessary to insert small jeweler?s screwdriver directly at corners to gently pry, releasing positioning studs. If you?re lucky, you won?t break off studs, but if you do, don?t worry they are mostly for alignment purposes.
Lift off control pad (volume up down, fast forward, reverse, center select button) Remove two Phillips screws holding pc board to bottom case and lift edge of pc board with small screwdriver under USB port.
Hinge pc board up with headphone jack on top and lift up battery with screwdriver.
Examine ribbon cable, which is folded around control board and sandwiched between control board and pc mother board. If cable is torn (or cut) you?ll probably have to throw Zen Stone in trash as this cable may be impossible to repair.
Remove white tape from top of battery and unsolder + and ? connectors
Tint ribbon cables with solder (I used a little solder paste to get solder to stick), the solder in wires, paying attention to + and ? terminals. Be very careful not to touch the ribbon cables together or solder on a metal surface.
Cut a piece of electrician tape and wrap around ribbon cables and soldering joints.
You can test your Zen Stone prior to assembly.
Reassemble in reverse order using a pin, tooth pick or small paper clip and clear silicone caulk around edges. Wrap elastics around unit holding upper and lower case together while caulk dries.
