My battery seems to be leaky

My battery drains really quickly. Sometimes the phone does not even last a full day. I let the phone die and fully charged it and then unplugged it so I didn't overcharge it. I put it on do not disturb mode right after and went to bed. When I woke up the phone was already at 85% and all that happened was I got 2 text messages. I just got this phone less than a month ago so I didn't wear out the battery or anything. Is it possible to get the battery fixed or get a new phone?

Yes.  The battery appears to be shot and in need of a replacement.  This can either be done by Apple or a third party repair company.

You can Google "iPod battery replacement" for third party service centers.

As I wrote Apple will diagnose an Apple product even if it is out of warranty for free. That should be your first step to find out if the problem is the battery or something else.
Once you have Apple telling you a 7 month old battery is defective (if that turns out to be the case)  then it becomes a game of horse trading. You'll need to speak to the tech and when he tells you there is nothing he can do you will need to speak to the tech manager and when she says most likely there is nothing they can do you go to the store manager, etc.  It is unlikely (though possible) that they will give in easily you need to be firm, polite and let on that you're willing to accept a partial reimbursement.
So again the first step is to find out what is wrong.

Assuming you are disconnecting from line power, when you say switched on, do you mean it was shutdown or in sleep mode?  If sleep mode the battery will still drain because sleep still keeps some things active and the battery does drain a little.  However, to go from 100% to 79% charge overnight is a bit excessive in sleep mode.  Unless you have some processes set to activate over night by the cron file and do things like backup the system.
What are the statistics on the battery, the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power...things like battery Condition, Capacity, remaining charge, voltage, current.

  • Macbook says "service battery" but battery seems fine.

I've had my macbook pro for 5 years .For the last 2 years it says "service battery," but the battery seems fine to me. With the screen dimmed, airport turned off, and using only MS word, it goes for about 100 minutes. Is there any risk involved with not getting the battery replaced? Also, Will the battery begin to decline exponentially?
    Thanks!

Do you have wifi syncing turned on? Is your itunes always open?
There is a glitch with the iPad where, as long and anytime iTunes is open, it'll sync...like once an hour or some such rate.
Originally the wifi syncing was only supposed to take place if the device is plugged into power, but that's not the case. If I have my iTunes open my iPad will try to sync almost continuously.
So check your wifi sync and iTunes settings (my iTunes used to be set to open automatically when the device is connected, I had to change it to only open when I do it manually because in the course of an evening's surfing my iPad opened my iTunes and started to sync three different times until I turned it off)
If you have iCloud syncing enabled that may also be contributing to your battery issues. I don't sync over iCloud, I tried it but after it ate all my contacts, I stopped using it. However, if the same glitch is present, the device trying to continually sync even when not plugged into power, that could also be part of your drain.

  • I just bought an iPhone 4S 3 days ago, but its battery seems to lose 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tuned off some location services, bluetooth, and even siri,  and made its settings similar to my two-year old iPhone 4.  The 4S can last much shorter.

I am having the exact same problem with my iphone 5.
I took it back to the Apple store 2 days ago and they gave me a new one, but they told me not to restore it from backup cos if something (an app) is corrupted it will happen again. The only thing they could keep was my contacts cos they did something there that allowed them to transfer them to the new phone. I went home, and downloaded only ONE app (facebook), and guess what - THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURING ON THE BRAND NEW PHONE! It is driving me insane as I cant get through the day without my phone.
Really hoping someone has a fix that will work

    Hi all,
I tried a different charger myself (the power source is reliable). But it does not work too. I think I need to bring it down to apple shop.
But is quite disappointing with the new apple product I have. Cos not only my battery is not charging, my built in speaker, the sound is like broken too. So I can hear some noisy sound when I play music.
I have a power book G4, and the power book, everything is still in good condition. Imagine how many yrs I have with the power book G4. This power book I never bring to do any services before. I sometimes really suspect is it Apple drop quality
(cos the office new bought mac from my boss, the USB port is not working too..)
But thanks all for the reply I think I need to bring it down to apple shop. Thanks!

  • Hello, today my battery seemingly died... Help?

hello, today my battery seemingly died and the macbook would not work unless it was connected to my adapter. I did some reading and decided to buy a replacement. However, when I got home later to buy a new battery, my mac would not turn on. Then later on, I decided to check on my mac and sure enough, it miraculously turned on. Now it says that the battery is fine and I can disconnect it and use it like I used to. Should I still buy a new battery, or was it just messing with me?

  • Battery seems to be half full, and iPod turn off.

Something strange. My iPod mini is less as 2 years old. Now it works together with a inMotion sound system, and sometimes I leave it with me.
Well, first strange thing is that it needs more as 8 hours to full battery charge.
Second, when I use it, about 2 hours of listening is what I get. When I press one button of the wheel, a message appears telling no more power supplied and it will be turned off.
Third: strange is that the battery level seems to be in the middle. No way, five seconds after, turned off.
    Any idea?
    thanks for all.

Ahh thank you so much for that site! After reading that Apple can replace the battery for you, they won't send you back the one that YOU own, instead, they send you another one that might be new, old, or whatever. And i read another review where this guy said the battery on his second ipod (the one Apple sent as a replacement) was already dying and the warranty for it wasn't very long.
I didn't want that to happen because i love my current ipod. Then when i saw that site, i was relieve cause i didn't have to throw out my ipod.
    Thanks again!!

  • My battery seems to be going out fast!!!! HELP!

I just got my black iPod NANO the other day and i charged it before i started to using it, i started downloading my songs and once i took it off the charge it was fine but then a couple min its later and i mean just a couple of min later the battery started going down. I already checked on the apple web site on how to maintain my battey and how to conserve its strength but it really seems that my battery might be bad cuz it just goes down too fast. Put it this way i have to charge it every night. Please help! if any one has any suggestions please let me know...... and if there i a battery that i can buy please let me know as well ! thanks!

thanks for the response. i really appreciate it. how do i go about doing a charge cycle the correct way? i have the usb cable that came with it(so the cpu has to be on). i don't have the actual home charger. so how would i go about doing it corectlly? thanks in advance.

  • HT1199 BATTERY  SEEMS DOES NOT FIT IN ITS CASE

Do You know how is possible the battery is still working but its case seems out of order(Mac OSX 10.5.8)

It may help if you could take a photo and post the image here.

  • Got replacement battery - seems to be running MUCH cooler

Temperatures seem way way way down on what they were previously.
Anyone else experiencing more pleasant lap-top temperatures?

My battery just started bloating yesterday and my MBP has been runnning quite hot since I got it in April. I have already filled up the form for the battery replacement and now waiting for it. Thing is, in China (where I am based now) the battery replacements come from Singapore(where I bought my MBP), so I can't expect the kind of 1 or 2 day delivery some people experienced.
I also noticed my MBP doesn't go into sleep when on low battery; o warning message either. It simply shuts off.
I noticed this happened after some Intel Security patch was downloaded in the last couple of weeks.
MBP is my 1st Mac and I am disappointed with it. I also read abt logic board replacement which helps the MBP perform better and cooler. Should I be asking Apple for a logic board replacement as well. The darn hing is I use my MBP for work and I cannot afford to have too long a down time.
