My battery will not charge when plugged in to power supply. What's up??

I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro from my college, and have barely had it two months. One morning I started it up and it would not hold a charge. It will not remain on unless it is plugged into the power supply. If I unplug it while it's on it immediately shuts down.
Sometimes if it's plugged into the power supply for a while it will shut itself down un-announced.
I'm very frustrated, mostly because I just bought it and had Snow Leopard installed and everything. The message on my battery status simply says (Not Charging), though the icon says it's fully charged, and the light on the power supply is green. I'm very confused.
Any idea what's going on and how I can fix it? Is the battery simply not connecting, or is it shot already?

As the original post stated, "One morning I started it up and it would not hold a charge. It will not remain on unless it is plugged into the power supply. If I unplug it while it's on it immediately shuts down."
This is exactly what's happened to mine this morning. Last night everything is fine, remember seeing about 5 hrs remaining on the battery, plug it up but this morning will not remain on unless its plugged in. If I unplug it, it immediately shuts down.
My first thought was somehow I didn't plug it up or there was something wrong with the plug itself and the battery was drained but then I realized its working with the power cord so that's not the problem, only when on the battery.
How can a battery just crap out overnight???

  • My original Ipod 30gb will not charge when plugged in (suspect battery completely dead...). Help

My orignal 30gb ipod will not charge when plugged in to a power socket. I think the battery has completely run down. Any thoughts?

Which model is this iPod.  The "original" iPod was 5GB or 10GB, so this must be a 3rd gen iPod, at the earliest.  This document shows all the iPod models.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353
If it's a 3rd gen iPod, it has a dock connector, but it needs to be connected to a FireWire port to charge.  It does not charge from a USB port.

  • My new iPad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. Any suggestions?

my new ipad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. What should I try?

Does the charger get warm at all? Plug the cable into your computer with iTunes open. Does it say not charging.? If it does, the cable is good. The iPad will charge very slowly when pluged into your computer.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Droid X battery  will not charge when phone is in vehicle mount

Droid X battery will not charge when phone is in vehicle mount. If you plug phone directly in to car charger it charges fine. This makes using the GPS virtually useless as it runs down the battery very fast. Anyone else have this problem. Other wise I love the phone.

Many of the Verizon Droid X car mounts have defective wires in them. This problem is widely reported on many forums and websites. You should return your product for a brand new replacement that is not defective  (that is, the car charger will charge your Droid X when it is in the car mount).
I happen to love the Verizon Droid X car mount. Lot of ways to adjust it from different angles for different placements. Just get a Verizon Droid X car mount replacement that does not have defective wires in it, and it should work just fine!

  • My notebook will not charge when plugged in

My notebook will not charge when plugged in & now will not work at all.  Do you think I need a new battery?

Battery information is found in SYSTEM PROFILER>HARDWARE>POWER.
Sometimes the power adapter does not show the light but is still functioning.  (that often the case with mine)  If on the menu bar the icon shows that it is charging, your ok.  If not, I jiggle the connector or snap it and that restores the connection.  If neither works, make certain the the connectors are clean, both on the adapter and the MBP.  Check to see if any of the posts are bent or missing.
If still no success, try another adapter if available.  If that does not work, the are issues with the MBP.  If it does, a new will be the answer.
    Ciao.

  • My phone will not charge when plugged in. It doesn't show the charge bar as green

My phone will not charge when plugged in. It doesn't show the charge bar as green

    Hello alleyfun
For issues with your iPhone not charging, check out the troubleshooting below to see if you can get it sorted out and working again.
iPod Displays a Red "X" Icon
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1463
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.
    Regards,
    -Norm G.

  • IPhone will not charge when plugged into computer

My phone was not working, and so I took it to the apple store nearby. Here were the problems:
-error message saying "this device not made to work with iPhone"
-would not charge when plugged into computer OR wall charger
-person on other end of phone calls said i sounded really far away and had trouble hearing me
-when i shut it off, it restarts itself immediately
-cant do a manual reset holding the power and center buttons at same time
-when plugged into the computer, mouse freezes, and a message appears saying ""power surge on hub port A usb device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port."
At the genuis bar they told me they cant help me cause that little water damage indicator inside the headphone hole is pink instead of white! I have never ever ever ever ever EVER gotten my phone directly wet. The only thing i could think of was the humidity in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower, and using the timer to use hair remover on my legs lol. But i think this is totally unfair, they wont repair my phone, or even really look at it because of this supposed water damage. My phone has worked fine up to this point, and the thing that happened that started all of this is when i dropped it about a foot off the ground in a DRY parking lot.
Is there any way they will replace my iphone at no charge?

Well don't give up try again maybe your luck will change when you go back up there, let somebody else look at your phone not the same person that told you that.I would get a second and a 3rd option about my phone. When you go back don't even tell them what somebody already told you up there ones.
And after the 3rd time I'll ask them well can they send your phone off to be fixed,It might not be nothing wrong with your phone it might be just they eyes playing tricks on them.Cause I promise you I know my phone had gotten some water in it cause I was sitting on the porch one day me and about 6 other people one of my cousin came out and through a bucket of water at my brother and I was sitting right on the side of him.And when I say my phone look like I than gave it a bath witch when they did that I had already had call the Apple store and told them something was wrong with my phone. And they had gave me appt to come up there,so I went to the Apple store I wanted say two day's latter after I made the appt to let them see my phone but my cousin and brother was playing with that water the day before I had to go so I guess that's why I was mad cause I was going to get other phone the next day after apple look at my old phone. So even with all that they still gave me other phone and I don't see how I didn't have no water in my phone cause of how much water they had through on my phone.
I guess I was luck cause if they would have told me that I would have freaked out so badly. And the reason why cause I wouldn't had my phone for five days and for them to tell me they couldn't do something oh yea they would have done something cause I would have went to jail that day for tearing up something in the store that worth my 400 and something dollars I spent on my phone and it would have bent one of them computer that would have bent history.
But I'M telling you,you going to be okay don't give up.Make you other appt and see what they say.

If the iPhone does not charge when connected to your computer either, the problem is with the cable being used or with the iPhone. If when using the power adaptor only, the problem is with the power adaptor.

The computer would not turn on again without being plugged into the AC adaptor. The magsafe charger shows green, but the computer says not charging. The battery is showing 57%, but the indicator lights will only light up when AC charger is connected..

  • Dead Battery will not reboot when plugged in

    Anyone else had this problem?
Phone dies when battery reaches about 5% (not 1%). Plug in the charger but it takes 10 minutes before you can switch phone back on again?
Maybe this is covered elsewhere but with all the dodgey battery posts about it is hard to find things.
    Thanks.
    WP is dead
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If it was only ten minutes I'd be happy, but I plugged mine in and it didn't boot at all, in fact 12 hours of charge later it was still sitting on the battery icon with red bar and had not charged a bit!
It appears that when it's run out completely, (which depends entirely on what the phone thinks is completely I turned mine off at 7%  remaining and left it off until I got home to charge it) the Lumia doesn't want to charge or power up.
It's almost like it's stuck in a cycle of low charge, the image of the battery low icon uses charge and the phone won't start until it gets charge so it just sits there in a perpetual state of not charging. Run it dead and it will fail to charge or start until you randomly fiddle with the buttons, connect and reconnect the charger, in fact it took connecting it to my laptop this time to start it.
The Lumia it seems has high battery usage probably due to 3G driver issues as it overheats in your pocket if not in range of a strong signal probably as it just remains on and searching. It hates being run out, which seeing as it chooses what percentage to run out at is almost impossible to avoid and it charges irregularly sometimes the charge lasts 18 hours sometimes it lasts 6.  As someone who has had Nokia's since the very first mobile phones came out this phone deeply dissapoints and has brought me to the stage of finally saying brand loyalty is no longer enough I am considering looking at alternatives once my contract on this current underperformer expires.
I told myself after a few Nokia problems with other models (which I lived with because I love Nokias)  that this was Nokia's last chance for me and at first I actually thought they had pulled the stops out and achieved something. A short period of ownership has sadly proven this not to be true.
If a random charging battery with no longevity is the best we can hope for Nokia is about to lose market share, sad really

  • MBP battery will not charge when playing games.

I have a late 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro and have had upgraded 16GB RAM for two years.
An avid Sims 3 player, I have 6 expansion packs and play regularly. I have never had a problem with playing on my MBP.
I had to get a new charger in December and got an Apple certified 60W MagSafe charger for $40 (has serial number, designed in CA, assembled in China, Apple logo, everything). I purchased another one for my Sims-playing roommate as well.
Ever since I've had a new charger my MBP immediately stops charging when I load up the game, and from there the battery life depletes despite staying green. I know that The Sims 3 draws a lot of power, but I have never had a problem with charging while playing. My roommate has an older MBP, even more expansion packs for Sims 3, and yet the same charger that I got for her works fine while playing.
Is it my charger, battery, hardware, or what that is not allowing me to play?
    Thanks!

Some of the heavy gamers do feel the Windows machines are better suited since they can go to the high-end video/graphics support.  But, as you say, that is a big extra expense.  If you are not into that kind of high-end gaming the Mac is fine, the 2011 MBP is a great machine.  I've been using this one since it came out and it is rock solid.
But I don't put a heavy load on it in the gaming area.  I run FORTRAN scientific codes which are heavy loads on the CPU, but not the GPU so there is not that added electrical demand.
An external graphics card does not seem like a real need to me, especially since you would probably then be looking at another monitor, also.  If you are not having any system issues beyond the 60 w charger being undersized, why mess around more than you have to?
    Just my two cents

  • TS3274 My iPad will not charge when plugged in.  How can I fix this?

My iPad stopped charging when I plug it in.  I have used different cords but that doesn't make a difference.  I also can no longer sync with iTunes.  Has anyone had this problem?

Have you tried a reset to see if it charges (and syncs) after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
