My Blackberry Curve 8520 came with no SIM card.
My Blackberry Curve 8520 came with no SIM card. Could some expert advise me what to do now, it's with vodafone, and I don't know whether it's contact or PAYG, thanks
Is it a brand new service for you? Or did you have another phone through them previously.
If you had another one previously, take the SIM card from that and put it into your BB. Otherwise, go back to your carrier and get one.

Blackberry Curve 8520 problems with Blackberry Bridge
Hi All Please help me!!!
I have a curve 8520 details & spec below. I have owned a Blackberry Playbook since Feb this year. Originally when I installed the Blackberry Bridge to my curve I managed to pair the 2 devices and I happily used this for a few months. I think an update came on my phone in App World and one day a couple of months ago I simply couldn't pair the devices. I did the usual un-install and re-install of all necessary applications but to no avail. I have searched forum after forum to try and find out what is wrong. I can see the application on my curve from Appworld and from options/applications/Ad-ons. However is is not visible on the phone in downloads or applications. I have un-installed and re installed numerous times.
Phone details
BlackBerry® 8520 Smartphone (EDGE, Wi-Fi) v5.0.0.681 (Platform 5.2.0.67)
Cryptographic Kernel v3.8.5.85
Branding Version: 1.0.91.694K
Micro Edition Configuration: CLDC-1.1
Micro Edition Profile: MIDP-2.1
Micro Edition JTWI Version: 1.0
Micro Edition Media Version: 1.1
Micro Edition PIM Version: 1.0

Micro Edition Bluetooth Version: 1.1
Micro Edition Location Version: 1.0.1
Micro Edition Security and Trust Services (APDU) Version: 1.0
WLAN Version: 3.0.0.113

I am hoping someone has a simple explanation!
Look forward to hearing from someone out there!
campocathHello campocath,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Are you able to see the BlackBerry Bridge application icon on your device home screen? If not, have you checked to see if it is hidden? You can press the menu button and select show all to unhide it. If you are able to locate it, try moving the BlackBerry Bridge application icon to the applications folder. Use this link http://blck.by/1g0TgHg to see instructions on page 197 on how to move application icons to a folder.
Let us know if that helps.
Thank you

Hi denisssilva94,
Welcome to the Support Community!
I would suggest first testing your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone with another battery to rule out any issue with the battery itself.
If you have the same issues when using another battery, please try to back up your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software.
For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.
For Windows®: "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U
Please test to make sure the issue has been resolved before restoring any data from your backup file.
Hope this helps.

My Blackberry Curve 8520 turns itself off, lock and get a white screen.
Whenever I'm making a connection, it starts to give strange noises during the call and ends up shutting down completely. When I try to turn it on again, it starts loading the OS, when the progress bar loads halfway, he gets the white screen and locks up completely, making it impossible to use again. The Blackberry only back to work only when connected to the battery charger. I hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance. The text can be somewhat meaningless, because I'm from Brazil and translated using Google Translator.

Thanks for the question.
If this BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphoneis from a different provider, you can only update to the latest version from that provider.
You can check for updates by going to www.blackberry.com/update

Blackberry Curve 8520 With Virgin UK
Hi all!
Could someone please help me , i have rang virgin about 7 times to no avail. I got a blackberry curve 8520 on virgin, when i try to register it it comes up with not registered with wireless service provider and tells me to do the host routing table option, this dont work either it just says message sent but i recieve nothing. i have BIS included in my contract but can't use it.
I go to e-mail setup and it only gives me the option to setup an enterprise e-mail.
If i can be more specific let me know.
Would be very good if someone could help me?
LiamDo a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Then try your Vodafone SIM again.

Help blackberry curve 8520 screen gone white with funny icon and saying reload softwear 552
hello my blackberry curve 8520 screen has gone white and funny circle icon has come up with reload softwear 552 at bottum of screen what do i do as it wont do anything ive tried battry pull and turned back on and it still brings that up
Solved!
Go to Solution. It seems that you have not installed the correct blackberry software for your device, or might be select the incorrect carrier for your blackberry handheld. You need to download the correct blackberry software with your service provider and before installing the software, disconnect your BB device from the computer and then install it with proper administrative privilege.
After installing the software on your computer, make sure to hard boot your blackberry handheld before connecting it to your computer. If the same problem persists, then use JVM Loder to complete wipe your blackberry device memory then connect with the desktop manager and install the software.
Good luck..!!!

Blackberry Curve 8520 (o2) - No data plan - Using browser purely with wifi?
I have just got a Blackberry curve 8520. I'm on o2.
I haven't got a plan that includes data, so was wondering how I can use my Blackberry internet over wifi.
Under mobile network settings I've disabled data services, so I don't get charged for data without me knowing.
I've also changed my browser configuration to Hotspot browser, and its found my Wireless network okay and saved.
However when I go on browser, It just keeps coming up with unable to connect to the internet.
Am I doing anything wrong?I dont have a data plan (work phone) and can get internet through wifi, and have done so without any issue.
check 'Menu', 'Manage Connections', Wifi is ticked, with network name in Green
check your using Hotspot Browser, (you did say this, I know). So it definately says Hotspot Browser at the top of the browser when open rather O2 Active (or similar)
I'll keep looking to see if there are any settings I can find which could help -
I need help with my Blackberry curve 8520 urgently
Hi
I have a blackberry curve 8520, last night the battery was low and my phone went off, I charged it throughout the night and this morning when I woke up it wouldn't go on, I then put it on charge again and I have been struggling to get it on since then, all it does is when I put the charger in the red LED light goes on for about 15seconds then the screen goes blank then 5seconds later it shows in the middle of my screen a battery charging.
If there is anyone that can please help me to get my phone back on I would appreciate it.
Kind regardsHi Alicia
So I hope you have your backup .Make sure you have the BlackBerry Desktop Software installed ,an internet connection and an USB cable , Then try reloading your device software forcing the detection of BlackBerry smartphone using application loader KB10144 .
I hope it will resolve your problem.
Good Luck
Prince

PLEASE HELP ME
Thank You
NathanHey hakmilton,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
I would suggest contacting your network service provider to look at possible repair and exchange options. Since you tried a new battery and the LED won't come on, we can not even try reloading the device software.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

Blackberry Curve 8520 won't turn on or charge
My blackberry curve 8520 will not turn on,there was a red light on for a minute! Took out my sim card, memory card & battery and tried to charge it then. It came up for literally one second a drained battery sign. Really don't want to send it away, any help would be great Thanks!
Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

What happened is that I took off the sim card that came with it yesterday and put another sim card, now when I took the sim card back in again the phone would show the blackberry screen that shows it's loading and after that it shows the MTN "wall paper" without any icons and my picture.
