  • Dropped blackberry curve 8520 - now stuck on white screen

    Hi
i dropped my phone (with it's case on)  and I'm now stuck with the white screen.  It's still 'alive' as the alerts sound for email etc and I've backed it up to my computer, but I can't get the screen to go.  I've tried a reboot, but still no joy.  Please help!!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I feel for you my Storm 9550 and Curve 8330 are
currently in a bag of rice as a result of a misplaced can of  Coke.
There are many shops where you can buy the replacement part for the
repair and YouTube has videos on the process.
Please note: This will invalidate your warranty.
One last thought is while the screen shows a malfunction you may have other damage that hasn't showed up yet.
I can suggest a repair shop with fair prices and excellent repair.

  • My blackberry curve 8520 has lost all my pictures in the lost.dir folder how do I recover them

I have a blackberry curve 8520 and it has moved all of my pictures on my memory card into a folder called LOST.DIR (I`m not 100% sure they have moved there but  I found a lot of files in there that seem to be my pictures) I am not sure how I  can recover these files, please help! I`m not sure if it has something to do  with the fact that a few weeks ago I was taking a picture and a pop up came up  and said something along the line of there wasn`t enough memory on my SD card so  pictures will save on device memory and I clicked yes. I`ve taken out the SD  card and battery several times and that hasn`t worked. I took someone else`s  advice an moved the folder into the DCIM folder where I was able to rename one  file to . jpeg but I cannot open it. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Tosin29188,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are you able to locate this folder when accessing the media card from a PC or Mac?  Also are the pictures files renamed to a different extension? (For example: Picture.rem)
Are you able to open the media files up on a computer?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520, no red light, black screen.

    Hi Everyone,
I upgraded my phone to a blackberry cure 8520 about 3 weeks ago, and I haven't dropped it or anything. It has been very well taken care of. Now the screen is completley black, and its plugged in but the red light doesnt turn on and if I try to turn the phone on nothing happens (No White Screen, No Red LIght, NOTHING!) Like i said this phone is not very old, and it was working a couple of hours ago and had almost half of its battery power left. The problem happened after I plugged the blackberry in. It was fine until then. I dont know what to do! Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Try a battery pull (hard reset) as your first step.

  • Every button on my blackberry curve 8520 has stopped working help!!!

Hi all, i dont know if this is a popular question but all the buttons have stopped working on my phone it started with a few of the not working like the n button the o button ect and the the other day all the buttons just stopped can someone help me to see if its a softwear issue or a problem with the phone itself. thanks

It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
*Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
*On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
*On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

hello my blackberry curve 8520 screen has gone white and funny  circle icon has come up with reload softwear 552 at bottum of screen what do i do as it wont do anything ive tried battry pull and turned back on and it still brings that up

It seems that you have not installed the correct blackberry software for your device, or might be select the incorrect carrier for your blackberry handheld. You need to download the correct blackberry software with your service provider and before installing the software, disconnect your BB device from the computer and then install it with proper administrative privilege.
After installing the software on your computer, make sure to hard boot your blackberry handheld before connecting it to your computer. If the same problem persists, then use JVM Loder to complete wipe your blackberry device memory then connect with the desktop manager and install the software.
    Good luck..!!!

  • My blackberry curve 8520's screen keeps going white

i have a blackberry curve 8520 and for about the last 2-3 weeks the screen has been going white nearly everyday at random times . last night i was watching a video on my phone on youtube and the screen went white . this also sometimes happens when i am watching videos on youtube , when i am surfing the internet on my blackberry throughout wi-fi , its sometimes just happens when i am just on the blackberry and after a reboot . when the screen does go white i take the battery out and put it back in ,it reboots and sometimes just before the reboot is finished it goes white or even after the reboot is finished it goes white straight away. i then have to put it on charge throughout the blackberry charger or the blackberry usb . yesterday i downloaded blackberry desktop manager and connected my blackberry to it and done a back up and then i tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and i never got the white screen but i started getting it again . please help and please be specific on what is causing this and how i can stop/prevent it

    Hi Solidbass,
You need to consider updating/reinstalling your device OS again.

  • My Blackberry Curve 8520 turns itself off, lock and get a white screen.

Whenever I'm making a connection, it starts to give strange noises during the call and ends up shutting down completely. When I try to turn it on again, it starts loading the OS, when the progress bar loads halfway, he gets the white screen and locks up completely, making it impossible to use again. The Blackberry only back to work only when connected to the battery charger. I hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance. Hi denisssilva94,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
I would suggest first testing your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone with another battery to rule out any issue with the battery itself.
If you have the same issues when using another battery, please try to back up your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software.
For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.
For Windows®: "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U
Please test to make sure the issue has been resolved before restoring any data from your backup file.
    Hope this helps.

  • HELP PLEASE! Blackberry curve 8520 - keep getting stuck on "white screen"

Hi i only have this blackberry curve 8520 for like 3 days and already its getting stuck on the "white screen" i experienced this problem with my previous blackberry and after several battery removals it broke and wouldnt turn on again and NOW this new blackberry with the same white screen problem! please HELP ME ANYONE PLEASEEEEEEEEE!!!
    thanks

Do you have a media card installed? If so, remove the battery while the phone is powered on, remove the media card (leave it out), then reinsert the battery and let the phone fully reboot. See if that makes a difference or not.

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 Keyboard not working

A few months ago the keyboard of my Blackberry Curve 8520 stopped working out of the blue, I checked the water damage indicator and it is was still white.  I left the phone and used a spare one, so I knew it was nothing to do with the sim card.  Yesterday I decided to check on my blackberry and it worked! Then this morning at 8am the alarm went off, I turned it off and left my phone alone but when I went to use it at 8:30 it had completely stopped working, not even the trackpad.  A few hours later the trackpad started working again but that's it, no keys or any of the side buttons.
So now as soon as the screen goes black that's it you have to do a battery pull to get the screen to light up again.
This is very annoying and has been going on since April now and I would really love to know what causes it, anyone know?

If you can tell that it is not a harware issue or what not, then it may be a software issue that can be fixed by a clean reload. Please check the link below to guide you through the steps.

Goodluck and let us know if this resolves the issue.

    Hey, please can anyone help!!
My blackberry curve 8520 got wet 2 days ago and was fine for ages...
Then it completly froze so i took the battery out and now it wont turn on!!
There is no red light, no white screen, nothing
I have taken the batt out, left for a min put it back in but nothing. I tried taking it out for longer but still nothing.
I have left it on charge for ages but that dodnt work either.
Nothing happens, it just wont turn on.
Is it completly ruined or is there a solution??
It was working fine for hours after it got wet so little bit confused as to whether that caused damage or not.
Apologies if i have left anything out

I've often seen it recfommend to place in a bag of rice so that the moisture gets soaked up.
