My Blackberry Curve 8530 keeps shutting down

WHy does my BB Curve 8530 keep shutting down every half hour or so? And of course, it takes 9 minutes for it to restart so I am missing calls and texts many times a day. Is it a software thing that can be fixed? I am not upgradeable for another 7 months, so I'm stuck with this phone! Help?

Hi rowinchrist,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.

  • My blackberry curve 8530 keeps shutting off by itself!!

Lately, most times I've been texting, talking on the phone, listening to music or going on facebook or twitter, my phone just randomly shuts off, restarts, and by the time it turns back on, even if it was at a full battery life right before, my phone either turns back on just to say that the battery is completely drained, and then that the shutting off will be handheld, or it simply doesn't turn back on. It's really annoying, sometimes it shuts off in the morning right after I leave home and I'm stuck with no phone for the day. It's been doing this multiple times a day and I'm beginning to get extremely frustrated. Even when it's charging, it still shuts off (but then turns back on because it's plugged in). I'm thinking that maybe it's been doing that because my battery has been over used in the past two years and it should be replaced, but I don't know if I'm right. Please help!!

  • My Blackberry Curve 8520 Keeps Shutting Itself Off...

Moderators, I really need your help.
My Blackberry Curve 8520 Keeps Shutting Itself Off after my power supply got damaged (the cord was cut open and the two small cables were touching each other causing it to spark a little). Now I turn it on and just 5 to 10 seconds later it shuts itself off everytime. The media card is damaged too. Last night I charged its batteries and 5 minutes ago it was already drained. I dont want to lose my contacts, notes or BBM contacts.
Please at least help me diagnose the problem.

    Hi dalstongirl
Have you already sent your BlackBerry in for service?  If not, I would advise checking for any software updates by plugging in your BlackBerry to your PC and going to www.blackberry.com/update
    Thanks

  • My 9300 Curve (v5) keeps shutting down!

My 9300 Curve (v5) shuts down every time I send an email with a picture attached, anyone have a suggestion?  It actually did it one other random time while I was writing a long email, but every time when sending a picture it definitely shuts off.  I assumed it was a memory issue, but cannot seem to figure out how to fix it or find an answer anywhere.
    Thanks

  • My Blackberry Curve unit unexpectedly shuts down -- any suggestions?

    Dear BB Community
For the past week, my blackberry curve 8310 has once or twice a day shut down unexpectedly.   The only way I can get it back on is to take out battery and then reboot it.   At first I thought it only happened when the battery ran out of charge but yesterday it happened when I had what I thought was a fully charged battery.   Not sure if this is a battery problem or something else.   Appreciate the support.  Thanks Steve

  • Blackberry Curve 9360 Frequently shutting down at random

Having some real issues with my blackberry shutting down at random. Somtimes in my pocket, somtimes when its just sitting on a table, often several times in a day. No, before you ask, its not getting unlocked and shut down by accident. Ensured its not just a low battery issue, as it happens even when it has been fully charged for several hours. When it eventually boots back up, it seems to have forgotten the time and date. It is, very inconvieniant. I am however by no means an expert when it comes to phones, as this is the first one i've had that does anything more than call and text, so any help or advice anyone could give would be greatly appriciated.
    Random Details:
    Provider: Orange
    Model: Curve 9360
OS System: Had some real issues finding this, ill write down what i found (though its probably incorrect). 7.0 bundle 1825 (v7.0.0.400).
The only app i've downloaded onto it is sky news, and the battery has been replaced and played with many different ways to no improvement.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
If your BB remains under warranty, it may be just as well to cease any further diagnostics and seek support from your warranty service provider.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 keeps rebooting

Hello, I  have had my curve 8530 for about 18 months now, and a week ago it started rebooting suddenly, usually when I'm checking email or talking to someone. It repeatedly reboots unless I plug it into the charger. Only then will it stay on after it reboots. I've tried remeoving the battery and putting it back in, but it doesn't help. Also, my blackberry app store icon has disappeared. I tried downloading it again and still can't find it. Is there any way these problems can be fixed?

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 keeps trying to load

I woke up this morning and saw my Blackberry was trying to load what i'm assuming is the OS, over and over and over again without success. There is a black screen with BlackBerry written in the middle, with a progess bar at the bottom. It takes a few minutes for the progress bar to fill, then the screen goes black with a square clock timer, and then the process starts over. This cycle has been going on all morning. I have removed the battery several times hoping to reset something but that hasn't worked. Any ideas what the issue is and how to resolve it?
I turned on encryption for the first time last night which is the only option i have changed in a long time. The phone still worked fine last night after that though, so i am not sure if the two are related, but i thoght i'd mention it anyways. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

    Hi,
It sounds like the OS software has become corrupt.  You will need to reinstall the latest OS to your device with Blackberry Desktop Manager.  You can download the software you need from Verizon at http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry/ and do not unplug until it completes the process, which can take up to 30-45 minutes.  Before you do, you might be able to backup your device with Blackberry Desktop Manager.  Let us know what happens.

My blackberry curve 8530 shut off and now it doesn't want to completely turn on it stays loading.

    Hello !
    Try the following.
Just pull out the battery and reinsert it again for the POWER restart.
Once it reaches to the loading screen, just connect your device to the charger and keep it idol for 2-3hours.
At times BlackBerry Curve 8520 takes longer time then the usual for rebooting.
    Hope this resolves your Problem!

  • Blackberry Curve 8530 Stuck on White Screen

    Hello there,
    I need help!
My Blackberry Curve 8530 is stuck on a white screen with battery image in the middle of the screen with a red line accross it. The BB was  working fine, but for some reason froze up, and it wouldn't respond to anything, so I took the battery out and put it back in and since then the phone is stuck on the white screen with the ddescription described above.
Just to let you know I have dwonloaded the sofware and installation loader from my carrier. I connected my BB to my PC via USB cable- the PC rocognized the device at first and istalled the drivers, but when I run the application loader it says that the BB is not connected and I have the option to connected and retry it---I did, I disconnected the USB and re-connected, tried it again, but I keep geeting the same thing. Not sure what to do next-
Can someone help me with this issue?
I appreciate any help in advance.
    Thanks!

A soft reset may resolve the issues outlined on your post. To perform a soft reset on your phone please follow the instructions below:
Remove battery with phone ON. Replace battery after 10 seconds. Power phone ON. Allow phone to complete the applications registration.
Please keep in mind that Smartphones are like computers and from time to time they will stop responding due to multiple factors including the amount of applications running at the same time, the amount of media saved and the amount of memory available, and just like our computers need to be rebooted, our phones need to be rebooted from time to time.

  • HELP!!!! Can't Open Picture attachments on my email on BlackBerry Curve 8530

I am having many problems with my new blackberry curve 8530.  I just purchased this last week and can't seen to be able to view my pictures that my brother sends me from across the country of my brand new nephew. I NEED HELP!!  I called Bell Mobility and talked to them for 40 mins and I got no where.
    Can someone help me!!!!

Where are you clicking to view the image, like I asked.
At the bottom of the email, ON the attached file?
    Try that.
You might need your BlackBerry Attachment Service Books re-pushed to the device, although your not being able to SEND an image sorta makes me think that is not the issue.
    Anyways, do this:
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
    1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
    2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
Now, try retrieving a picture again.
    From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.
    1. If any post helps you please click the below the post(s) that helped you.
    2. Please resolve your thread by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • My BlackBerry Curve 8530 Phone does not show the home screen?

On my BlackBerry Curve 8530 Phone, I deleted an app that I did not want anymore, but when I tried to reboot the phone a few times, the screen comes up as ''App Error 200'' when it is down rebooting. What do I do? And if I have to get a new battery for my phone, where do I get one, and how much does it cost?

If the screen wont show at all, it looks like your screen has went out on the phone. Take the phone to your local service provider like sprint or at&T. These shops usually have repair guys who can try and fix it. If they cant fix it, they will have to replace the phone.
Once screens and keyboards go out on these phones (i have had a keyboard go out) they are worthless and they need to be replaced.
Unfortunately a wipe would do nothing if you cant even see the screen.
