My Blackberry ID is not an actual e-mail address... How did it get accepted??​?

Question

Hey fellow BB users,
Unfrotunately my Blackberry ID was created last year, using a mis-entered email address...  
Its an address with a domain that doesn't even exist...

So I'm now on my final attempt (9/10) at guessing my password, after trying every possible combination of my usual ones...  
Before I try my luck at it, I wanted to know two things.
1.  How did an account become active without e-mail confirmation?
2.  Is there anything else I can do, besides get my final guess wrong and initiate the security wipe???

It is built in to do so...there is no requirement to Validate the account prior to use. However, one of the recovery methods does require that the account have already been validated in order to recover the account...unfortunately, that's the one you'd need to fix this, and so that won't be possible.

There will be no Security Wipe after the last failed attempt on this...refer:

The Security WIPE would only be initiated after too many failed attempts at the Device Lock password, but not the BBID credential.
There is nothing you can do. With your situation, the "original sin" was the erroneous use of an invalid email address at the origination of the BBID account. There is no way to now "fix" that. But, refer (just in case):

What I predict will be needed is for you to indeed WIPE your device, then create a new (and valid) BBID account as part of the initial setup, then reconfigure manually everything on the device as if it were brand new. You will lose any purchases made under that invalid BBID, but that's the result of the "original sin".
