MY BLACKBERRY Z10 WAS STOLEN

My Blackberry Z10 was stolen on the 16th of July. It was in a public transport, I tried calling my number when I noticed but the thief didnt pick up. Fortunately, my device was password protected. I decided not to block my sim until 19th of July hoping the thief would have wiped my phone and probably tried dialing one or two number using my sim( i was thinking of using that as a bait to trace the phone). but it didnt work out.
I had my blackberry protect on but my location wasn't enable at the time it was stolen. On the blackberry protect page, the last location update was 11th july. I had tried using various options on the site but it seems the phone is not connected to an internet network.
I tried contacting my service provider (MTN Nigeria) but they have no help to offer.
Please I dont know if there are still possibilities of tracking the phone
Also, I have a feeling if 10 password attempts are made on the device, it will make a factory reset and the phone can be used with new blackberry ID. If so, will that make it inaccessible for my blackberry protect.
Any useful help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The chances of you tracking your phone are about zero. If your phone was protected with a password, the chances of the thief cracking it are also about zero. What will happen is the thief will enter an incorrect password ten times and will then have a completely wiped phone to use. Without location service activated on the Protect website, your phone cannot be tracked by you and despite tracking methods being available to your carrier (cell tower, GPS, etc.), they will not track it.
Just move on and remember to fully activate Protect on your next phone.

  • Blackberry was stolen

Hello, two days ago my blackberry curve was stolen from me but I do have the IMEI of the phone and I would like to block it.
    Thank you

First call your mobile provider and DISABLE the SIM card. Do that now.
Then, you can discuss with them about adding the IMEI to the Lost/Stolen list. Some carriers will do that, and some will not.
I don't know your carrier, since you chose to place "Student" in that field on your profile.

  • HELP blackberry z10 won't start

I got the new blackberry z10, was very excited but am now having great difficulties with it. I have had it for a couple of weeks and it was working fine. 2 days ago it wouldn't turn on.  I have taken the battery out and it back in, nothing. Charged it for a whole day, nothing. I am very frustrated as I am travelling right now and rely on my phone for everything. Is there a solution to this or should I return the phone and go with another brand?

Take it to the dealer and get it exchanged. It is unfortunate if you got a defective phone. This can happen with anything that is working with elecronics or mechanics. We have a number of these phones and they are all working very well.
Once you learn the phone and are used to it, you will like it a lot!

Check your Settings > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network > Network Technology, is yours set to 2g only?
What other choices there do you see?

  • Some Help... My bb was stolen!!

Hey you guys... My old blackberry curve was stolen in december. I called my telephone provider to cancel my services but some of my contacts kept my pin and told me that the thief was using it... What should i do if i´ve already called my provider a couple of times and apparently there´s nothing they can do! Would you please help me?
    Thanks!
    J

I don't who your provider is but they are blowing smoke if they say there is nothing that they can do!  A Blackberry has a PIN that uniquely identifies one and only one device.  They can do something.  It doesn't get you your BB back but at least you can find some degree of satisfaction that the thief has a paperweight that is useless to him/her.

  • Blackberry Z10 stolen

I went to protect.blackberry.com.  It brilliantly told me where it was - unfortunately telling me that it was at home 3 days before it was stolen.  I had been using it frequently since that time right up to when it was stolen and it was immediately shut off of course. Being shut down, Protect.blackberry.com didn't have a chance, but it performed disappointingly to say the least, being 3 days behind.  What gives with this facility?
Password protected, reported to provider, all backed up (except photos boo hoo).
    Irwin

With Blackberry Protect send out a wipe. The next time the phone is turned on and is able to have reception it will get wiped. Once started the wipe is not reversable.  If the phone has a strong password the information inside of it will be safe.

  • NEW BLACKBERRY Z10 BATTERY WAS NOT FULLY CHARGED

    Hiii Friends
I Have purchased the new Blackberry Z10 One month ago, But its battery was not charged by 100%, it only charged by 94% maxmimum and also drains faster, I have already Turn off Device many time, Remove battery and again start the device, But even though I have face the Problem, Battery was charged at 94% only.
Please Let me know what to do.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Before taking out the battery, do NOT turn off the device.
Try this: leave it connected to the OEM stock wall outlet charger.
With it connected and powered ON, remove the battery for minute and replace.
Check the percentage and drain over the next day, and do the SAME procedure again.
Remember, the charge percentage is not an exact science, but rather an estimate by the software of the charge, based on the current power, historical drain and charging, etc.

  • Blackberry Z10 Sudden Death Syndrome

For some inexplicable reason my Blackberry Z10 has died after a short life of three weeks. It was a quiet passing. She was working fine this morning faithfully taking calls, sending e-mails and reading text messages.  And then she just went to sleep and never woke up. Reinforcements are on the way; however I remain phoneless for the next three to five business days.
Three to five business days later…
Newly “certified refurbished” Blackberry Z10 from Verizon arrived then it died. This time death came about two weeks.  She was working awesome receiving texts and checking mail and then she was gone. She died fully charged with no history of dropping or having been coffee’d.
All attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful (e.g., removing battery, tethering to computer to force software reload with or without battery, switching battery,  removing memory card, removing SIM card, checking that the white stickers weren’t pink, begging and pleading , crying, etc.)
I believe that there is a defect in the phone. I think that they should be recalled and replaced with new non-refurbished phones. IMHO.
In lieu of flowers please send chocolate.

  • Cannot synchronize my BlackBerry Z10 with Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 Computer

Z 10 Sync to Outlook I cannot sync, despite my best efforts, my BlackBerry z10 with my calendar on my Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 computer. I am not such a blithering **bleep** that I cannot figure out to, and I have already done, the following: 1, make sure I have an updated BlackBerry Link software; 2, Hook up my phone to the computer and select the device; 3, select "Microsoft Outlook" as account type. 4. Select "calendar" The process seems to start out fine, and then I get a "Sync was unsuccessful" message. I am thinking of getting a web- based work around, by synchronizing Outlook with Google Jacaranda maybe, and then synchronizing it that way, but that uses data. I should be able to use default settings and simply use BlackBerry Link software and the cord that comes with my phone.

Maybe you can try this way:

  • TS2446 My iphone 5 was stolen, i have refused to disconnect my service with sprint from the phone because i still have the hope that once the thieves turn on the phone or try to use it, I will be able to track them and find my phone. do you think is a goo

My iPhone 5 was stolen from me in a train station, the phones battery was dead, the iphone hasnt bee turned on yet, everytime I call it it rings once and goes to voicemail which tells me that it is still dead, nobody has charged it nor turned it on yet, the find my iphone app says its offline, and the sprint service representatives have told me that the phone has not been used yet. I dont want to disconnect my phones service just yet, becasue even if the thief restores my phone, and wipes out all of my information they cannot and will not be able to use it as if its theres because my carrier would still be connected on it. My hopes is that the thief will attempt to use the phone to make a call or to receive a call from my phone and then I will be able to find them tracing their calls. I did this once from my a blackberry that was taken from me and I found it... My question is can they erase all the information from my phone to the point of using it although i have not disconnected it from sprint????

    Yes.
Unless you are certain that it was stolen, don't overlook the fact it may have been turned in to a lost and found.

  • MY BB Z10 was Unable to Boot after Many Attempts-soon after my files are all gone!!!

    Dear BB Support Group,
    Greetings!
I'll always been a BB user since then, even if my Siblings are asking me why??(They are iPhone Users) Until last week, my BB Z10 wasn't be able to boot in its normal boot time. I tried and tried so many times, read the other helpful tips from the internet but i couldn't find the solution. I bought my Z10 only last March of 2013. I am not a hard user of my BB because my field of work are not allowed to used the phone while at work. We can but i choose not to, unless breaktime.
Let me get back again to the main issue, my sister let me used her iPhone for 5 days then today i decided to try again to reboot my mobile. I was so determined to do so. I follow the link below.
    http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/restore-your-blackberry-z10-when-it-will-not-turn-on
then, really my mobile works once again, BUT i was so dissapointed that doing it so will also wipe out all my messages, phonebooks, images, documents, and videos WHICH are all important and  memorable to me. I never back up all those files. I was so depressed at this moment and sadly I was so sorry for buying Z10 and for always defending Blackberry to my sibling and colleague.
Now, my blackberry I think is on its factory setting because it was obvious that it's like im on the starting tutorial and so again...
    My Question was:
    1. Is it possible to retrieve or recover all my deleted files? If possible please help me and guide me.
    2. Why BB z10 are hanging and mostly the wifi connection or mobile network cannot be read.
    3. Why it takes sometime to reboot?
    4. Why it happens to BB z10? I mean, why when you were restarting or rebooting it will take like 24 hours but still on its 99%, and freeze on that level? so we dont have choice but to press again the start button and start the process again.
Please I wish BB support group can help me on this, all those files are important to me, those captured moments that we cannot repeated again family videos and many more are all gone.... really it was the most saddest day of my life...
I hope to hear from you soon...I wish that it can be fixed and IF NOT please try to manage well issues (Hanging Z10, booting more than 24hrs) like this becasue your name and credebility are your main goal to take care off..
Thank you and advance. Looking forward for your favorable response.
    Kind regards,
    Cecile

  • BlackBerry Z10 Error "The file cannot be played due to an unexpected error (10)"

Hope someone can help this one, I received a voice note through BlackBerry Messenger, after downloading I tried to play it and the following message popped up, "The file cannot be played due to an unexpected error (10)".
I received another file, 3GP format, tried to play it, same error pops up. I headed over to the music and video libraries, I could not see these 2 files. I connect my Z10 to the notebook and checked on my SD Card, I could see the files from were not named correctly e.g. VID 00001-20101226-1206 was named as VID 00001%20101226-1206 with the percentage symbol being the unusual thing I picked up. This was the case for both files.
I then modified/remaned the files replacing the % with a - (dash) symbol. The files were now visible and able to play through the Z10. I think there is a problem with the way BBM files are being saved especially the naming convention might be having an error/bug.
My OS release is 10.0.10.99, Version 10.0.10.738 with Build 455718. Is there a fix for this problem that is known? I checked but saw no posts where it was clearly addressed. Am I the only one experiencing this anomaly?
I have restarted the device but this does not resolve. I have attached a screenshot of the error sequence also showing how the file is named upon saving to my media library.

    Hey runyamhere,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
To find the root cause of this issue regarding the media not saving the file properly, we will need to gather logs from the BlackBerry Z10.
I would highly suggest you contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry so we can get a case number created so we can get the logs.
    Cheers.
