My BlueJ (PKG file) doesn't have an icon on it!

There is no icon represent my BlueJ PKG file, but only a blank background with a window on it, how can I retrieve the image back?

I don't know. What does that have to do with Java Programming (the topic of this forum)?

Help! My .psd files do not have photoshop icons, but generic icons from windows.

Now that I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails, Can someone help me?

Please try changing the file association for .psd files.
Right click on the file > Select 'Open with' > 'Choose default pogram' and then select 'Photoshop' in the list of programs.
Make sure 'Always use the selelcted pogram to open this kind of file' is checked at the bottom of the window.

Installed App doesn't have an icon

I recently had broken my iPhone 4s, so my insurance sent me a new iPhone 4s.
I synced all the apps I had in my previous phone onto the new one using iTunes. The TV Guide App IS definitley installed on my iPhone since my Spotlight Search found it but there is no icon for the TV Guide App!
My iTunes does have the app installed as well. I have synced the apps several times with no results to get the icon on my iPhone. Do you have a suggestion on how I can get this TV Guide icon back on my phone? Thanks! xx

Thank you! YES!! I got my TV Guide icon back! YES!!
I had to go to Apps on iTunes and erase it.
Then I synced my iPhone to iTunes so that the missing TV guide App would delete from my iPhone.
Then I went to the Apps Market on my iPhone, and redownloaded the App and the icon was placed on the iPhone again! happy days!

Problem installing a PKG file

I have a question and I'm not sure if the problem is imac related or Lion related, so I'm posting in both boards.
Quick background, I purchased the Sonnet Express Card/34 Thunderbolt Adapter and Tempo SATA Edge ExpressCard/34 to connect my Drobo S to my iMac at home. I was unable to download the driver from the included disc - nor was I allowed to download it from Sonnet's website.
When I click the installer .pkg file from my home computer, it's greyed out and gives an error message about a BOM being moved.
When I click the exact same file from my work computer, it launches just fine.
My specs are:
Home computer: imac i7, 3.4GHz, 16GB Ram, OSX 10.7.3
Work Computer: 2x2.4 Quad Core Intel Xeon, 6GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8
So, I'm obviously assuming it's a computer issue. But, I've never had any other issues installing at home. I'm attaching images of the differences for reference.
The correct install pkg icon is work computer - the white doc icon is at home.
Would there be a problem with the installer? If I downloaded the driver (.kext) file on my work computer, and put it on a thumb drive and took it home, and added it to my systems> extensions folder at home, would it work - or are there more things installed elsewhere that would make it not work?

I think that any file with a .pkg extension should normally show the "yellow box" icon, regardless of the file's contents. A non-custom icon comes from the application that a file is set to open with, which here should normally be Installer.app.
I would check to see if your system displays other .pkg files normally as the "yellow box." If you don't have a different .pkg file handy, you could download a small support .dmg from Apple and mount it, just to look at the icon on the contained .pkg (don't actually run it!)

If you don't see the yellow box icon, Get Info on the .pkg and make sure it is set to open with Installer.app.
If that looks OK, I would Get Info on the Sonnet .pkg file that you have at home, and make sure that "Name and Extension" shows the complete filename you expect, with .pkg as the true extension, and also that "Open with" is set to Installer.app

Trace file doesn't show any info about error

We have a background program to do some activities in the Database.
Today ,when running the program we got the below error :
1) 20221: errexit, ORA-00001: unique constraint (MEDS.MED_USER_EQUS_HIST_PK) violated.
I ran a trace of this session and the trace file doesnt have any info about the error..ran trace using the below command :
exec sys.DBMS_SUPPORT.START_TRACE_IN_SESSION(2166,30629, false,TRUE);
why is that the trace file doesn't have any info about the error.
2) I disable the constraint disable novalidate.
even then I got the same error .. why is the constraint getting validate even if I disable the constraint ?

You could actually say you are in gross violation of the forums etiquette post, and are abusing this forum.
If you would have read the docs, you wouldn't have used dbms_support (which was never supported for end-users), but you would have looked at

[UNSOLVED] Urxvt doesn't display an icon

I've read all the stuff I can find about this, and I have had no luck.
Urxvt doesn't have an icon it's just a blank box where the icon should be. (Alt-tab, on the window border, etc.)
Any ideas?

Any ideas why yaourt hangs while downloading libAfterImage-1.18.tar.gz? I am assuming that it is a problem at afterstep.org,as I can't seem to get the file, even directly off their website? Either way I will try again in a day or two.

I suspect if you're trying to open a file in 08 that's been opened in 09 the file has been updated to 09 and will not open in 08.

Can I force my computer to ignore the fact that it doesn't have 'permission' to change certain files and compress them anyway?

I'm trying to compress everything on my external USB hard disk using the File> Compress Items option in the Finder. However, every time I try this, it thinks for a little while and then tells me it can't do it because it doesn't have 'permission' to edit such-and-such a file. I have gone into the 'Get Info' panel for the hard disk and tried changing the permissions to read & write for my own account, 'staff', and 'everyone', checked the checkbox for 'Ignore ownership on this volume', and chosen 'Apply to enclosed items...' from the little gear/cog menu under 'Sharing & Permissions' section of the 'Get Info' panel. I have also tried sending the problematic files to the trash, but every time I do so, when I select 'Compress items' again, it just finds more files that it doesn't have 'permission' to edit. I cannot 'repair disk permissions' from disk utility, and when I select 'repair disk', it says that there is nothing wrong.
There is no reason that I shouldn't have 'permission' to edit these files. They are all my own documents and photos etc, or ones that have been downloaded from the internet. The computer is not connected to any kind of network, and there is only one user account on the computer, which is an 'administrator' type account.
My question is -- how do I bypass this 'permissions' problem? Is there a way to 'force' compress, like when there is a problem emptying the trash and you can choose to 'Force Empty Trash'?

You could have it wake at 2:55 and then shutdown at 3:00 but then it won't wake in the morning.
Not shure why you want to shut down instead of sleep. It uses only a small amount energy sleeping with the display off. It would probably use more energy to have it wake up in the morning before you get there than to have it sleep all night.
If you are having battery issues you should replace the battery. I have seen it stated elsewhere in this community as batteries go bad they can damage the system. Your's might not be near that state but you should consider replacing it.
With it plugged in there should be no difference in the charge on the battery whether it is sleeping or shutdown. It charges in both states and maintains a full charge while plugged in.

Is it necessary to have the pkg files for Anyconnect VPN on the firewall

I have an ASA 5505 and we are using Anyconnect client to connect to our VPN not the "Clientless" method.
Well, I don't have so much space on the flash and I need it for an upgrade of the ASA image.
So, do I must have the .pkg file for the Anyconnect? I also have a file "csd_3.5.2008-k9.pkg" for Secure Desktop, we are not using that, is it safe to remove that file from the flash?

If you are not using Secure Desktop then it should certainly be safe to remove its file from flash. I am less clear about the implications of removing the AnyConnect pkg file. I know that the ASA wants to check any incoming connection to see if the incoming request is at least as new as the version running on the ASA. I am not clear whether it needs the file to be in flash to be successful. And it certainly means that if anyone wanted to load the AnyConnect client or upgrade the version of the AnyConnect client that it would not work. I encourage you to look for some other way to free up space in flash.

How to transfer files from an iMac without upgraded Migration Assistant to a new iMac that doesn't have a firewire port?

I just purchased a new iMac. He's awesome. However, he didn't come with a Firewire port. (Bummer, because I have one from the last time (2007) I had to transfer stuff from my iBook...)
When I turned him on, he wanted to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from the older iMac; she doesn't have the most updated Migration Assistant, though. (She works just fine, but she only has Snow Leopard.)
Okay, so what I'm wondering is if I just have to use a huge external hardrive to move everything? If I do that, will my programs (Microsoft Office) move? I fear they won't move/transfer that way. Ugh.
PLEASE HELP.

Firewire 800 (what the new iMac has) is 9 pin. FireWire 400 is 6 pin (what your old iMac has). Hopefully you didn't damage your new iMac by trying to insert a FW400 cable into its FW800 connector. The numbers are important in the case of the ports. They don't interchange!!! Get the proper cable or risk damaging your new iMac.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.
I recommend that you also make a backup before proceeding. Just quit the installer.

1. I am running on Windows 8.1
2. When running the installer file from https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/reflow I get the following choice
I click "OK" which doesn't do anything for me (CC is off).
I turn CC on and run the installer again. I get the following window that within few settings disappears:
Then - just for half a second it says "Launching Creative Cloud desktop" and then it brings CC to front, and that's all.
RF still not there.
3. I spoke ta support agent on the Adobe chat on Friday. He looked into my computer for an hour. Uninstalled After Effects (after failing to update it). For some reason all apps disappeared from the list. They then reappeared after he opened PS.
This morning After Effects is still showing up in my system and is operational.
Weird.
4. At the end the agent suggested maybe Firewall is the problem here. Trying that out now.

If you still have the .doc files, it might be best to send those to your recipients so they can be edited. Otherwise, you can use ExportPDF to convert the PDF files back to .doc format. But, again, that step would be unnecessary if you have the .doc files.
