My BOLD 9900 switches off after a few minutes of turning it on

I got this latest blackberry with the hope of enjoying the best of phone tech. Its been behaving well for 2 weeks and then it suddenly changed. It started switching itself off if I'm not playing music, videos or if I haven't connected it to ma PC. Its really making me angry for wasting money on this phone that I can't use freely. The problem with playing the media is that it results in fast battery drainage. I wiped the device software and installed software (info below):
smartphone (3G, Wi-Fi)
7.0 Bundle 2406 (v7.0.0.585, Platform 5.0.0.734). But the problem still persists!!! . What should I do to bring ma fone to normal?

Hey chiwala,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I can definitely help you out.
I would suggest performing a reload of the software by force detection, follow the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

  • Using the Cyclops speed camera app, the sound on my iPhone 4s switches off after a few minutes. Any ideas?

when using the Cyclops speed camera app the sound on my iPhone 4s switches off after a short while. If I close the app and reopen it, there's still no sound. If I restar the phone and open Cyclops I get sound "welcome to Cyclops" or whatever the greeting is. Has anyone got any ideas?

I've taken several Express devices apart in the past to experiment with them. The internal components warm up quite a bit in the first 10-15 seconds. They continue to heat up after this.  It takes 3-4 minutes or so before the heat transfers to the outer case for dissipation.
Nothing is certain, but I'm 95% sure that this is your issue.  But, trying to find a microscopic break in a circuit board trace is, as I mentioned, a real longshot. If you have the time and have done things like this before, it might be worth a shot.
I guess the bottom line is that even if this is not the issue, the device will still need to be replaced since Apple does not offer repairs. There are no software or firmware fixes for somthing like this.

  • Screen turns off after a few minutes and needs to be closed then opened

hi, as the title suggests my powerbook screen turns off after a few minutes before my screensaver is set to come on and when i come back and press a key or move the pad it wont start up so i need to close the powerbook then open it up again for it to activate. its not a huge problem but my programs which connect to the internet seem to lose their connection when i open it up again. is this normal? is there a setting i can change?
    thanks

Is there a way to "disable" Standby, Suspend and Off just when watching movies (in fullscreen or not)? I want them to do what they usually do in all other cases.
Setting them to 0 in xorg.conf does the thing, but I need that functionality only when I'm wathing movies. Making a script that alters adjustments in xorg.conf isn't the best solution - you'd have to restart X every time you want to watch a movie .

  • IPad Personal Hotspot antenna shuts off after a few minutes of non-use. This happens in both Verizon 3G and LTE areas. Turning off LTE does not help. Turning Personal Hotspot off and then on works. Does this happen on Mini and Retina?

iPad--third generation shuts off antenna/hotspot after a few minutes of non-use.
Happens in 3G and LTE VZ environment.
Turning hotspot off and on getsw things working again.
Does Apple have antenna on a timer so it shuts off after a few minutes?
Does this happen on Mini and Retina as well?
    FLAGSTAFFLAR

    Fixed!
Two things together have restored connectivity.
    1.  I changed the name under Settings > General > About > Name from My Name's iPad to iPad of My Name.  I read somewhere that iOS 7.0.1 or 7.0.2 (I forget which) sometimes had issues with apostrophes here.  Easy enough to test.
    2.  I then reset (again) the APN settings under Settings > Cellular Data > APN Settings > Personal Hotspot and reentered our provider's info (APN, Username, Password) there.
I don't know WHY it worked, but the personal hotspot is now happily sharing (again) internet connectivity with my MacBook Pro.

  • Bold 9900 switched off and wont turn on

Hi My BB 9900 switched off yesterday and wont turn on at all. No sign of red light, not charging, nothing. I tried connecting it my PC but the PC doesnt pick it up - Please help. I use my phone for  everything

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Screen turns off after a few minutes of inactivity

    Hi guys,
Not sure if this is a DE/X related problem or kernel.
Running KDE 4.2.4 and my monitor would switch off after a while of inactivity.  I have disabled DPMS for the monitor and I've ensure that screensavers or power management in KDE is disabled.  Where else can I look?  I don't like this behavior.  (irritating when watching a movie and the screen just powers down)

Is there a way to "disable" Standby, Suspend and Off just when watching movies (in fullscreen or not)? I want them to do what they usually do in all other cases.

  • HT5940 I am plying music via airdrop to my Apple TV but it cuts out & switches off after a few tunes. Why does it do thid & how can it be fixed?

I am playing music via Apple TV, but it cuts out & switches off during play. Is there a fix for this?

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"
It's an issue with Apple and we're awaiting an update re this
I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!

  • Monitor output switches off after a few hours.

    Hi,
I am using a MSI 865PE NEO2 motherboard and MSI NVIDIA 5200 T128 graphics card.
The monitor suddenly goes black whether i'm doing something on not and the power light on my monitor changes colour to standby after a few seconds. The only way to get the machine normal again is by pressing reset.
The first time was when i was watching an intro movie from a game, the second while i was listening to music and on the internet (the music kept playing regardless for about 10 secs and then it began to stutter for a few secs and play fine for a few secs) and the third was when i was just reading a webpage.
It's happened once yesterday and 3 times today!
I've only just bought these two and installed them a week ago. Someone please shed some light!
Let me know if further info is required and if this is a unique problem.
    Mr_Zingh

Well i thought i could breathe a little easier with XP, but unfortunately not.
Since i last posted, as with Windows 2000 Pro, i was able to do a complete installation of Windows XP Pro and other software without a hitch, but then surprisingly the pc froze and the screen went black for about 20 secs before rebooting itself. No blue screen, just an error message after boot-up regarding the Geforce drivers.
Here are the system specs. I have been going through other threads and have only included information which i think will be requested.
Power: Channel Well Technology. CWT-450BDP. Full specs can be found here
    Motherboard: MSI 865PE Neo2. Bios 1.3.
    Processor: Pentium 4 2.4GHz 400FSB. Bus clock 133MHz. 56C idle / 57C full load in SpeedFan.
    Memory: 1 x Micron Original 256MB DDR 333MHz PC2700 @ 2.65v
    HardDisk (both using FAT32): 1 x Seagate ST340014A (first HD using XP Pro SP1a) & 1 x Western Digital WD400BB (second game HD using 2000 Pro SP3).
Display: MSI GeForce FX5200-T128. Driver v52.16
Sound: Creative Soundblaster Live! Platinum 5.1
It has happened more than twice in the last 4 days (including this morning) but i'll only refer to the last two times as i witnessed those while using the pc and those are the only two times when the error report said there might be a problem with the Geforce 5200 drivers. I'm not sure exactly what i was doing 2 days ago when it happened but i know the pc had been running for a few hours and then bam!
I decided to downgrade to older display drivers, and did 'Update Driver' from the device manager and let XP find and install a drivers itself. Thats how i got 52.16.
The most surprising one was this morning. I had just booted up, connected to the internet and bam! It happened.
I have just scanned the pc using the fixblast and fixwelch tools but they found nothing.
I read another thread about a similar infinite loop error and decided to test my system with BurnInTest which i ran at the highest settings for about 10 mins but even that can't invoke the infinite loop. If anyone knows of another software which can push my system to the max or cause the infinite loop then please let me know.
At least then i will be able to check if the problem is still present instead of anticipating the next reboot.
I haven't updated the bios on either motherboard or display card yet, so is that something i should consider doing in my case?
    Please help!

  • HP Pavilion HPE h9-1120t Phoenix - PC Suddenly Starts Turning Off After a Few Minutes of Use

Had this computer since July 2012 and not even a hiccup.  4 days ago, the computer suddenly began turning off. It does not shut down, it turns off like the plug was pulled. When I restart I get the Windows improper shutdown message.   There is no warning at all.  No message like the computer is overheating.  It will just happen when the computer is idle with no programs open.
When it shuts down, the power unit light goes out for about a minute then comes back on "green" and the computer can be restarted.
I have unplugged the power cord and relugged and it seems fine.
The computer is up to date on Windows updates and can be shut down normally.
I have taken off the cover and cleaned out all the dust and confirmed all the fans are running just like they should.  I have left the cover off and the computer still shuts down.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.
    Computer Specs:
HP Pavillion HPE h9-1120t Phoenix Desktop PC
    Windows 7
3rd Gen Intel Core processor quad-core 3.5GHz 8MB Shared Cache
    10GB DDR3 SDRAM
    2TB hard drive
    1GB DDR3 AMD Radeon 7670
    Liquid Cooling
    Blue Ray and  DVD Burner

Everyone must be gone for the week for Thanksgiving.  Can someone help?
Here is the latest: In SAFE MODE, the computer never shuts down all at once. It will stay on indefinately.   I tried SYSTEM RESTORE to 3 previous versions all failed and the computer shuts down on it's own.
I checked the computer setup menu and all looked fine, even turned off OVERCLOCKING.
Did a reinstall of the factor Windows install and as soon as it gets to the point where it begins to initial settings (after I enter in the WiFi password), it shuts down on it's own.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

  • The video on the Camera app seems to turn off after a few min...I am trying to do a 20 min video.   What am I doing wrong please?

The camera app has a video feature on it and I tried to do a 20 min video but it seems to turn off after a few minutes.  I tried twice with the same results.  There is no info under settings or anywhere on time restraints.  Does anyone have any suggestions please?

    Sasabean-
I do not know if this is related to your problem, but there is a setting on the iPad called "Auto-Lock".  Mine is set for 5 minutes.  One of the options is Never.  See Settings-General-Auto-Lock.

  • Satellite A210-128 swichting-off after about 30 minutes

Hi, I have a problem with my notebook A210-128, it switches off after about 30 minutes of working and after it does not start for about 3 minutes.
When I play some new game in high details it switches off faster. I assume that it can heat up, because the base of my notebook becomes hotter quicker than it was before.
How can I check the temperature of my processor to exclude this reason or is it something else?
    Please help.

    Hi!
The notebook gets too hot and so it turned off by itself.
You should always ensure that there is enough free space around the notebook. This is important for good air circulation.
So dont use a notebook in bed, couch or something else because this not good for the air circulation.
In your case I would clean the internal cooling fan. You dont need to disassemble anything. To clean use compressed air spray and could blow away the dust from the cooling ventilator.
If it doesnt help you should go to an ASP (authorized service provider) and let check your notebook.
    Bye

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  Try making the device a favorite .

  • Sometimes my iMac starts with white lettering across the screen on a black ground and after switching off for a few seconds starts on ok ! Any ideas

Sometimes my iMac starts up with white lettering acrossthe screen on a black background - when it's switched off for a few seconds it starts up ok. Can anyone tell me why this happens ?

I have read on here that a PRAM reset can cure this problem:
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
