My book cannot be opened in iPhoto?

Hi,
I have recently upgraded my iphoto and made a book in Iphoto. I am trying to open the project that I can see on the side pane but will not open. When I go to main view and select projects at the bottom none of my projects show on the bookshelf. Please help as I have done a book for a friends 40th and really need to find it.

Pages 5.2 is the latest, it was applied to my App Store just 2 days ago. It can only be used on Maverickes though. Since you are in the Mavericks forum, I assume that Mac OS X is no longer 10.7.1 as your profile states.
Double check your Pages' version to make sure it's 5.2.

I keep getting the message 'You can't use this version of the application Address Book.app with this version of Mac OS X You have Address Book.app 4.1.2
I am running OS 10.6.2 and the only change is that I am booting from the drive from my dead iBook on another iBook. Everything else is the same and all other apps are running fine.

I had this problem after upgrading to Snow Leopard.

  • Gift book cant be opened.

I got a gift book by email downloaded it and opened it with my iBooks app after all that when I try to open my book it says that it can't be opened cause there is some missing software that can't be downloaded. What can I do to solve this?

The book was bought in a Mac computer in the book section in iTunes an set as a gift. The exact message is the next:
    "Cannot open book
This book cannot be opened because required software annoy be downloaded.
    Ok"

  • I cannot open my iphoto. the circle just continues to spin. what do I do? I do?

I cannot open my IPHOTO. What do I do? The circle just continues to spin on the IPHOTO screen but no pictures appear.

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? If it's not repeated there then:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Cannot Save book as PDF to computer- iphoto quits

When I try to save the book I created on iPhoto'11 Version 9.1 as a PDF to either my computer or my hard drive, iphoto quits and the following error message appears saying,

When I look in my documents for the saved book, there is a PDF file for the book and when I click on it an error message appears saying

I have tried VERY unsuccessfully to install the new iphoto 9.2.3 update.
I have installed it several times both from the appstore and from Apple Support downloads...it says it has 'successfully updated' - then on opening iphoto, a dialogue box pops up and says:
iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

Insane...I have all my updates including Lion 10.7.3 why does APPLE KEEP SENDING BETAS AS A REAL PRODUCT?
Does anyone know how to copy over a backup from a twinned drive Backup? What files etc.
    Thanks tons...

    Thanks Terence,
I did get it working finally...and your last advice was what I needed.
I am embarassed that I was an early adopter...SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER and read the problems before creating some for myself.
This was an excercise in frustration, because of the obtuse division between the appstore and Apple Support downloads... it was a bit of a circuitous route...strange that with all the security reciepts and tracking that Apple goes to to prevent piracy... which Steve by his own admission used to build Apple...
Why aren't the server scripts smart enough to say…”HEY DUMMY you can't use this download because you purchased the last iPhoto upgrade from the appstore...and… DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME and precious data BUDGET downloading this gargantuan file which will eat 20% of your expensive 5Gb monthly data allotment!!!…and NOT WORK…only pretend to…and then foul your system….kill your productivity and turn your hair whiter…even worse than LION did.
I am just so antagonized by the inept scripts in recent installations that don't do a diagnostic before allowing installation that is going to corrupt things...I had less effort and frustration when I ran my ATARI with a MAC emulator...rarely lost any productivity to nonsense.
I AM TIRED OF BETAs dressed as products...designed and rushed out for Apple toys that once were tools of the creative trade...COREL...may still have a chance at a comeback if Apple keeps pumping out toys instead of the venerable tools we once adored as income enhancers.

How are you launching iPhoto? From your Dock? The Dock icon may still be linked to an older iPhoto version. Just to be sure, you are opening really iPhoto 9.6, launch iPhoto by double-clicking the iPhoto icon in your applications folder. Your crash log  with the the "Library not found" error message should show the version number of iPhoto. Which version is it showing?

  • IPhoto Libary cannot be open

I have recently returned from a trip and tried to organise my photos in order to publish, print, etc.
My MBP has a 256Gb SSD and the MacOS partition is pretty small (dumb choice from me, I know) so I created a new library on the NTFS partition.
After importing photos from cameras and iPhone, created events, albums, flagged hundreds of pictures, etc I tried to create a slideshow with 660 pictures. The slideshow export took ages and eventually hanged so I had to cancel the export but the CPU was still 100% from the slideshow daemon (I wonder why the export didn't use more CPU's).
I quit iPhoto just to let the Mac breathe and when I tried to reopen it it wasn't possible: it asks me which photo library to use, I pick "Other Library...", navigate to the library folder and try to open the previously created library but it doesn't do anything. I don't get an error message (as in other similar posts) and the Open button flickers when I double-click the library or press the Open button.
This are the methods I tried to make it work:
open iPhoto with Command+Open, Command+Option+Open, Command+all modifiers+Open but it still opens with the same window: choose library (no option to rebuild, verify, etc)
double-click the library hoping to run iPhoto. In Pathfinder it just goes into the package contents, in Finder it runs iPhoto which asks me what library I want to use. Really? iPhoto got started by clicking right that library that I need.
moved the library to a freshly formatted drive with a MacOS partition (HFS+, extended, journaled) but with the same result: it cannot be open
restarted Mac (I come from the Windows world )
tried iPhoto Library Manager: it opens the library, sees every photo and movie but no events, albums, etc. I tried to rebuild the library but it creates a new one with no events, flagged photos, etc.
I have another library created on the same NTFS partition with pictures from a previous trip and I cannot open it either.
How can I find out what is the problem, what is the error or the "thing" that doesn't allow iPhoto to open my libraries even from the Mac partition? I looked into the console log but nothing shows up when I try to open a library.
How can I recover my photos and the way I organised them?
This is very annoying as I lost 2 full days trying to publish my photos and got stuck with this issue.
Thanks in advance for any help!
PS: I have iPhoto 9.5.1, Mavericks 10.9.4, MacbookPro Retina

Is the "Ignore ownership on this volume" flag set on the external drive?
This are the methods I tried to make it work:
open iPhoto with Command+Open, Command+Option+Open, Command+all modifiers+Open but it still opens with the same window: choose library (no option to rebuild, verify, etc)
After moving the library you need to select the library in the Finder to launch into the First Aid tools, not click the iPhoto icon. iPhoto needs to be directed to the library.
Select your moved library on the external drive with the correct formatting, hold down the ⌥⌘-keys, double-click the library to open in iPhoto, hold down the keys, until the First-Aid panel opens.

  • Cannot open old iPhoto library after updating from Tiger to Lion

I changed my Mac and now I am using Lion on MacBook Pro.
I am trying to open the iPhoto library that I used to have on my old PowerBook G4 with Tiger, but it does not work.
When I open the library, iPhoto says that the library needs to be updated and asking OK to continue. I press OK to continue and iPhoto starts to work though after hours (I tried to leave the mac to work for three days) nothing happens!
The library is very big, 39 GB!
    Any help?

    NowApple:
    Sounds like a damaged database.
    Option 1

  • Save iPhoto 6 book to open in iPhoto 5

Is there a way to create a book (in iPhoto) on a Mac running 10.3.9 and iPhoto 6 so that the book can be opened and edited on a Mac running 10.4 and iPhoto 5?
The reason I ask is that I have a friend who created the book on 10.3.9 (w/iPhoto6), but he wants to send it to MyPublisher. Since he isn't running OS 10.4, the MyPublisher Plugin won't work. So, my thought was that perhaps he could save the book, send it to me, and then I could open it (my machine has iPhoto 5, but runs 10.4. Then I could send it to MyPublisher for him. Any suggestions?
Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Joe:
Once a library is at V6 there's no way it can be
accessed with an earlier version of iPhoto. Can't
your friend do a Save as PDF of the book and then
contact myPublisher on how to upload the pdf to their
site for printing. That's how it was done before the
    plugin.
Thanks so much for the info. Yes, I thought about the pdf thing, but tech support at MyPublisher says that all books MUST be sent thru their plugin, due to their automated processes. Oh well, it was worth a shot....
    Thanks again.
