My book looks good in Book Proofer but not on iTunes

Last month, I successfully delivered book content onto the iTunes book store.
Before loading the content, I did as suggested in the Publisher's Guide and checked the book's formatting using Book Proofer. The content appeared exactly as it should, so I delivered it to iTunes and it is now available for sale.
I purchased the book and the formatting is a mess -- nothing at all like it was designed or how it appeared when I checked it using Book Proofer.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way for me to fix it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I suggest you ask in some different forums and provide the title and details of what has gone wrong.

  • MOV looks good in QT player but not DVDSP !

I exported a MOV from FCP using Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (my best choice I reckon) and it looked pretty sharp when I viewed it externally in Quicktime player. So, I was quite pleased.
However, when I imported into DVDSP and simulated it, the text (for example) looks poorer quality. And, having burned a disc and looked at it on a TV, the text still looks and other images still lack quality.
Why does it look good in QT player but not DVDSP simulated?

It's because DVD SP is converting it to MPEG-2 in order to put it on the disc. This will result in lower quality than your ProRes version. Also, if your ProRes version was HD, bear in mind that it will also be converted to SD for the DVD.
For best results, put it through Compressor first using the DVD 90 mins Best Quality setting with Dolby audio, then import the resulting two files into DVD SP. This will produce much better results than with DVD SP's default encoder.

  • Layout looks good on large screens – but not on laptop

Hi, is there any specific reason why a website would look OK on a large screen and yet fall apart on a laptop (13") screen?

Hi, is there any specific reason why a website would look OK on a large screen and yet fall apart on a laptop (13") screen?
I don't know what you mean by "Fall apart."  Which browsers are you testing your site with?
If the page is oversized and centered, it will should appear centered on all viewports that are wider than the #wrapper width.  If the display doesn't support that width, your page should appear flush left in browser with horizontal scrollbars.

Books are downloading to IPad 2 but not fully loading on iPhone 4S.  Shows book cover but the download line never filled out and book remains shaded and unable to open, delete, or move.  Tried un/reinstall of iBooks, reboot phone, turning on/off, syncing.  Suggestions?

I contacted Apple support.  He had me unsync all books from my phone through itunes and then resync all books back to phone.  It work and all iBooks are now completely loaded.

Als het mogelijk is zou ik de pijljes het liefst voor de tekst willen hebben (maar dat vindt ik minder belangrijk).

  • Navigation looks find in IE & Firefox but not Safari. Help please?a

    Hi,
I am fairly new to the website design world. I just created a website for a college class . I got the site to look great in Internet Explorer and FireFox but for some reason I am having a problem with Safari.
I am a mac user so I really want my site to run good in Safari. The problem lies with the navigation menu. As I said it looks good in other browsers but in Safari it appears to be longer than the rest of my page. I have tried to change everything I can thing of to get it to fit within the page. I tried specifying the #nav width, I tried changing it to auto. Before I added the scroll over drop down menu, it was fine. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?
Side note: When I magnify the page in safari I can eventually get the navigation to fit within the page...
    Take a look. http://www.calihanchiropractic.com/
I am using CS3 & CS4. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this to fit within my page?
    Thanks!
    Aubrie

Do you have the QuickTime Plug-in for Safari?
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html
Since lots of people do not have QuickTime or QT plug-ins installed on their system, you should offer direct links to MP3s, too.

I think a more comprehensive format might solve the problem. Anyone with any ideas.

  • IPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes

I have recieved a new IPod video 30Gb off my g/f (how nice of her :D) anyway when I plug it into my computer it will not appear in iTunes, a problem plenty of people are having it seems. The difference being I think I know what caused the problem but I'm having trouble with it still.
When I recieved the Ipod I tried it on my girlfriends computer and it worked fine. She already had an ipod and itunes installed. I was able to add music no problem and it appeared in itunes. She however was having problems downloading on her computer for websites or using download sofware since installing itunes and the problem went away when itunes was uninstalled.
Because of this (there were work arounds so I'm not after a fix for that) I thought I try using other software to see if that stopped me having this problem. This meant when I got my ipod home I plugged the ipod into my computer and did not install anything off the disc. This I believe is what has caused my problem for not being able to see my ipod in itunes.
Anyway I tried to get other software to work (winamp at the time) but couldn't figure it out and so thought I'd just bite the bullet and install itunes and hope I didn't have the same problems as my g/f.
After installing and plugging my ipod in again nothing happened. I checked My Computer and the ipod was there and called PHIL'S IPOD but nothing was in itunes. I then followed all the instructions on here :
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
but it still won't pick up my ipod.
Is there anything else I can try to get my ipod to appear in itunes I really do want to use it but at the minute I can't at all.
    Thanks in advance.

Two years ago I had to return an ipod mini to the shop for a refund as I could not get it to work. It showed up in windows but not in itunes. I spent about a week trying EVERYTHING, blamed apple for some stupid glitch and gave up. Ten days ago my daughter got an ipod nano, and since we share the same pc I did warn her of what might happen. Yup, it did. Exactly the same problem. Once again I tried all the tricks, the five Rs, renaming the drive, you name it, I did it. Throughout this period though my PC was running a little slow and weird things were happening and despite using Norton Antivirus and other anti spyware I suspected I had not fully recovered from some sort of infection which drove me mad by blasting me with popups for 888 casinos etc. What I thought was really odd was that nothing showed up in Device Manager and having googled around a bit I came across this from which you can download a AproposFix.
So if this sounds like your problem go here:
    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14679793
and try it. The ipod now works, my daughter turned pink with delight, and my PC is now back to normal speed and all sorts of other seemingly unconnected annoyances have been resolved. I really do wish Apple could be more aware of problems like this as there seem to be many thousands of 'users' (ha ha) out there who look as if they are having similar problems.

  • Check this fix:  If nano is recognized by WinX, but not by iTunes/Updater

I'm just posting this here because it took me a long time to dig up this fix. This problem appears with both windows 2000 and XP that I know of. Since windows is installed on my D: drive, when I plug in my nano, it kept being mapped to C:
It worked fine as a mass storage device, but iTunes/Updater wouldn't recognize it. I (like everyone else) tried the 5 R's, yada yada, but it turns out I needed to change the drive letter to anything other than C. Bingo, that was all. The steps are here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93499
I hope this bump helps some of you.

    hiya!
okay, we'd better check on the usual suspects.
first have a look inside your "My Computer". is the ipod showing up in there?
    if it isn't, see:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    if it is, see:

  • My ipod is recognized in windows but not in itunes. I ran the troubleshooter and followed all of the steps to fix it....itunes still does not recognize my ipod.  Anyone know how to fix this?

My ipod is recognized in windows but not in itunes. It shows up in devices and gives me the ok to eject prompt, so I know that the connection is good. I ran the troubleshooter and did all the recommended fixes.  Hours and hours later, I still have the same problem. I uninstalled itunes and all its folders, restarted the apple device services and changed the drive letter. Checked my security settings and everything else I can think of. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you remove all Apple related software including QuickTime, Safari, Software Update utility for Windows, etc using the exact instructions in this Apple support document?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port and not a USB or similar?  Have you tried different cables to help rule out a faulty or damaged cable?
Does it connect to iTunes okay on another PC or Mac?

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

  • IPod appears on desktop but not in iTunes

When I connect my iPod clickwheel (via Firewire or USB) to my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.5.7) it mounts on the desktop and I can open it as a disk volume; but iTunes (8.2) doesn't see it at all. iTunes does see my iPhone. Restarting makes no difference. Disconnecting and reconnecting also makes no difference.
    Any ideas?

    Hey there,
Have you had a chance to look at this Apple support document relating to this issue? If not, check it out. Hope it helps.

  • Fix for "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes"

This is a possible fix for those with the "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes" problem. This also fixes those have the update/restore problem (ipod disconnects after clicking update/restore in itunes)
    SOLUTION
    SOLUTION
I had the exact same problems before, iTunes doesn’t recognize iPod after connecting it, I had to use the restart iPod Service method to get it working.
I tried this on my second computer and it worked perfectly, iTunes recognizes iPod every time I plug it in.
I compared the process/services opened in both computers, and I turned on some services which were previously on disable(excluding iPod Service). Unfortunately I forgot which services it was, so I took some screenshots and compare these with your services.
After modifying the services, I tried plug and unplug the iPod several times without closing iTunes, iPod was instantly recognized by iTunes every time!
I attached the links to screenshots of my automatic services and manual services, ignore the service if its not on your list!
For those don’t know how to open Services, Start -> Run -> “services.msc”
