My book mark bar constantly asks me to refresh

My mac book pro continually brings up the refresh icon in the bookmark bar no matter how many times I refresh, has any one any suggestions?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Book marks bar disappeared suddenly

Hello,
I am using Safari 5.1 on OS 10.6.8 and suddenly while opening a new window the book marks bar disappeard. I restarted the system but it is not coming back. In the safari preferences, the options for bookmarks bar and menu are enabled and in spite of that I cannot see it.
Did any one have a similar problem or how can I debug it?

Sorry guys, false alarm. I must had some how pressed shift+command+B that removes bookmarks bar and there fore was unable to see it. Please ignore my question.

You may have been using the old Multirow Bookmarks extension in Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, which wasn't updated for Firefox 4.0 and 5.0. This is a different version of that old extension, which adds a few new features.

How can I get the book marks bar back to showing all bookmarks?

The recent changes to the bookmarks bar are really annoying.
Previously I could see all the bookmarks, even if they flowed onto two or three lines now I can only see one line and the rest are in a drop down. This makes it slower to access things that I go to on a regular basis.
Also, how do I hide the folders???!!! They take up so much room on the bookmarks bar. It was so much better before the last few upgrades.

Cant edit book mark bar

Went to edit a few of my bookmarks in the bookmark bar but for some reason i cant seem to access anywhere to edit them or re-arrange them.

you can edit/move them direct from the bookmark bar - by dragging them to different places/orders and by ctrl/right clicking & choosing 'edit name' etc etc.
In your screenshot - see the three horizontal lines that form a handle at the bottom/centre ? - Click & drag that upwards, then you should see the individual bookmarks rather than the huge preview.
But... there should, even in that large view, be a scroll bar just above that 'handle', to umm, scroll through the bookmarks you have - so I winder if there's more going on here.
Do you see the same thing in a new user account? If not, first try trashing the file : home/library/preferences/com.apple.safari.plist for your regular account.

Book mark pull down screen won't refresh

When using the bookmarks pull down menu, the screen does not completely refresh leaving remnants of the pull down menu above and below the Firefox window. I have an screen capture of this peculiarity.

Turning off hardware acceleration in Mozilla Firefox seems to have fixed it the menu remnant portion. With hardware acceleration turned off, Youtube videos stop playing. There is no indication that Youtube is downloading the data or the processing circle which appears in the middle of a video when it is held up because of a server latency problem. Turning hardware acceleration back on alleviates the Youtube video problem but of course recreates the pull down menu problem.

I was asked to up grade my Firefox, when I did this the system crashed and I have lost use of my book marks and fire fox, I have not been able to fix it.

Two days ago I logged on to Firefox. I recieved a message that told me that I was using an out dated version. I had to up grade . I followed the instruction and when finished fire fox crashed. I am unable to delete firefox, reload it, or use it. I am forced to use Internet Explorer to use my computer. I have lost my book marked sites, and I am at a loss as how to retrieve what I have lost. I have tried to follow the instructions to fix the problem but I have not been able to fix the problem. I sent the crash information but recieved no responce.

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

I accidently unmarked the book marks tool bar, the tool bar and the menu bar how do i get them back ?becaus now only the tabs are visible and i cant access my features or book marks

i was getting to know my firefox so i accidentally unmarked the menu bar the book marks tool bar and the tool bar. so now only my tabs are visible and i cant get to any of my add-ons or extensions.
and even surfing the net has become difficult cause there is almost nothing i can do with a new empty tab.
how can i get these bars back. i tried taking the cursor up to the thin line above the tabs and the window border but the menu to mark the above mentioned features does not appear any more.
i tried restarting firefox several times but it didn't work. i even uninstalled and completely downloaded a new version of firefox and installed it but the problem still persists.
i am operations system is windows XP.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. 
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

Found some instructions but they called for using keys my computer doesn't have ( key in OSX There is no file, edit , history, help, tools, navigation, all the things your directions say to use. Also I always get hung up and the message a scrip is running. I don't know what thises scrips are but I sure don't need them.

I would like very much to turn it on in the Laptop I just bought and am having a fit trying to figure out all the differences,.I very much like this function; however, I am now using win 7 which in and of itself is difficult to figure out troubles when they occur such as if the MSN Bing program opens a video window while I am playing, the media center will lock up, or if I am listening to BBradio.org and click on lestening to one of the pastors the laptop will show static on the screen and all you hear is static like you just went to the twilight zone.

How can i set the book marks below the address bar like IE9

Dear Sir, I am a new user for firefox, now i am using firefox 4.0 beta version. In this how can is place book marks in below the address bar like IE8 OR IE9

In Firefox 4 you can press F10 or use "Firefox > Customize" to make the Menu Bar and other toolbars visible and remove the check-mark on "Tabs on Top" to place the tab bar in the old position.
You only see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.

Why some book marks open in side bar window and some don't, I want to turn it off

Book marker side bar opens with some book markers. I want all to open in a new tab, full screen.

For the bookmarks that open in the sidebar, right-click on the bookmark and select Properties. De-select the option "Load this bookmark in the sidebar"

The safari bookmark was working yesterday. Today book mark is not working. I can not book mark anything.

See if this works.
Quit the Safari app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I can no longer organize my drop down book mark list ,from the toolbar in alphabetical order like I used to Why ?

Used to, I could organize my drop down book mark list from the tool bar, in alphabetical order from A-Z by clicking on view, sort by, select . Now every time I add a new bookmark it goes to the bottom of my bookmark list in Unsorted bookmarks . I can go to the bookmarks and sort the menu in Alpha. order. However, when I go back and drop down the bookmark list from the tool bar, the new bookmarks are still in the Unsorted list at the bottom. The bookmark's menu may or not have them in assorted list. This occurred several updates back. Why can I no longer sort the drop down book marks list in A-Z alph. order? This is a major obstacle when trying to search for a particular bookmark that I have made in the not too distant past.

That did solve my problem. Madperson Thank You Very Much!!!!! I'm not real literate on the mechanics of working computers even though I use them all the time. Basically I'm a point & click kinda guy and beyond that I'm pure novice! This is going to save me a lot of wasted time.

Fire Fox not working lost my passwords and book marks

Hello, my old version of firefox needed updated for a long time now, I have a Mac Book OXS 10. 5. 7.
The firefox worked ok however, but I went to update the new version, when I opened up the downloaded file, it asked me if I wanted to replace the other version, I selected yes, and when I did, the new one says it wont allow me to open it, now I have no fire fox anymore, my book marks are gone, and my passwords were remembered by my firefox if you know what I mean. I really need some help, what do I do now???

The version of Mac that you are running doesn't support modern versions of Firefox. Download Firefox 16.0.2 from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/16.0.2/mac/en-US/ and install it. You should have Firefox back up and running.
You should seriously consider upgrading to at least Mac 10.6, preferably something like 10.7 or higher. 10.5 hasn't received any updates in a very long time, and if I remember correctly, the 10.6 upgrade is only about $40 US. You will then be able to use a modern version of Firefox
