My book won't open in iBooks on ipad

I Have been reading my book with no problem on my ipad. All of a sudden the book won't open???

Try closing iBooks app via the taskbar and then re-open it and see if that book opens: double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the iBooks app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
If not, and if the book is still in your country's store, then delete the book from the bookshelf via the Edit button top right, and then redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iBookstore in the app. If it's no longer in the store then copy the book to your computer's iTunes library (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases), delete it from your iPad, and resync it and retry opening it.

Receive this message when I try and open a book " failed to load book because the requested resource is missing" I have deleted the book and deleted Ibooks and still keep getting this message. Any ideas on what I should do.

I have tried deleting and redownloading  a few times and still won't work.  At one point, I had two icons for the same book, both acting in the same manner.  This is just one of many issues I am having with iPad mini. Do you have another suggestion for fixing this?

Did you install iOS 8 on a mobile device and upgrade to "iCloud Drive?" If so, your "Documents in the Cloud" are no longer accessible from the iWork applications, and won't be until you upgrade to Yosemite, which will be released sometime during the fall. You can still access them by signing on to icloud.com and using the web version of iWork, which is not much worse than the actual applications.

  • PDF won't open in iBooks

PDF won't open in iBooks  open appears open for a second then disappears.

I just updated to the latest update 4.3.2 and it works fine! Apparently something in the 4.3.1 update caused it to not work.

I have ePub documents that won't open using iBooks, how can i get them formatted so that I can use them

You could try downloading a program called Calibre.  It is very good at converting files between formats.  I use it all the time to convert PDF's from work to read on iTunes when I don't want to have to keep zooming in and out to read the actual text.
I know that iBooks will read PDF's but they can get pretty squashed down some times. Especially if the original font was small to begin with.  So I run them through Calibre and then email them to my phone and open them in iBooks.

  • My address book won't open after installing Lion. Has this happened to anyone else?

I recently upgraded to Lion and couldn't be more pleased, except that my address book won't open now. It just bounces and then gives up and sends an error report to Apple. Please help.

I have the same problem. Has anyone solved this problem?

  • Apple Address Book Won't Open

On my iMac G5, my Apple Address Book won't open. It has been working perfectly and I've never had a problem since buying the computer about a year ago. Though the name appears on the top menu bar and the triangle shows beneath the Address Book icon on the Dock, nothing appears on the screen. I ran the Disk Utility Repair Permissions, but aht didn't correct it. I've rebooted and that didn't solve the issue either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
I don't know how to troubleshoot Address Book, other than replacing its data with a backup copy if you have one, or just getting rid of that data. Address Book stores the preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist, and everything else in the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder.
You may try moving those files out of there, to the Desktop. You may try removing just the com.apple.AddressBook.plist preferences file (so that Address Book re-creates it again), for example, or removing just AddressBook.data and renaming AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data. Whatever you do, make a backup copy of those files first, just in case.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder.

  • 10.4.7 update and now my Address Book won't open

I recently ran a software update and the Mac OS X Update 10.4.7 errored out. After the required restart I now find my Address Book won't open.
Any advise to fix this problem?
Is it safe to run the 10.4.7 update again or will this problem repeat?

    hi there--
i would check out this thread. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1863756&#1863756 basically, try repairing permissions first. then if that does nothing, see if you have your addressbook.data file. it's possible you could rename a file like this user to regain your info. if the addressbook.data file is there, select it and get info on it by pressing the apple and i on the keyboard. ensure that you have read/write access to the folder. make yourself the owner and make the rest of the fields as open as possible. also, if the address book launches in a different user (you could create a test user) you could do a number of things. if you have a backup of the address book in another place you can try pulling the com.apple.addressbook.plist from the preferences folder in the home user library. do not do this if you have no backup. also you could check ~library/address book plug-ins. if there's stuff in there, try pulling folder to desktop and restarting the computer. keep me posted as to whether or not you make any progress. • Can't open downloaded ibooks on iPad

Can't open downloaded ibooks on iPad Brooks i was reading some days ago.

You can't - ibooks from Apple can currently only be read in the iBooks app on an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, Apple haven't so far made a Mac or PC reader for them
If you don't have one of those iOS devices, then though all purchases are considered final, you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Running 10.4.6 on a G3 iBook and my Adddress Book won't open

sorry, i posted this as a 'reply'-- and have re-posted it:
I have a G3 iBook and my Address Book 4.0 won't open. I have tried re-installing from Tiger but I now have an OS later than Tiger, and am reluctant to go back. Also I don't know how to selectively install, as it doesn't appear to be an open on the install tiger disks. Where is "system" on the installation disks?
Actually, I have the Address book installer, but it immediately closes after I sign in. I don't know if it is defective or something else.
As you might have gathered, I have only elementary knowledge, so gear your suggestions accordingly.
    thanks!

    Kate,
Tiger is 10.4.x -- did you mean you were reluctant to go back to Panther?
Your version history, and appropriateness of reinstalling is confused -- please clarify?

  • PDF's won't open in iBooks

    Hi,
When I download a PDF in safari and tap the open in iBooks button iBooks opens but the PDF does not download into there. I am running ios5.1 on an iPad 2. I have many books and some PDFs on there all open and work ok but it's when I try and add the issue arises.
    Any guidance would be great.
    Thanks.

I have encountered this same issue on iOS 5.0.1
When I was running the earlier 4.x iOS, I could easily open any PDF that was within Safari or attached to an email and open that and manage it via iBooks. But now with iOS 5.01, when I select "Open in iBooks" the iBooks app opens, but nothing else happens.
I can open PDFs in Adobe Reader as normal, but I really like to manage my PDFs within iBooks, so I hope there is a work around or this is fixed soon.

  • HT4539 Really, my books won't open! I've done everything these articles say...I need help

Is there anybody out there that can simply tell me how to open my books downloaded on itunes, paid for in itunes store?  i'm not new to this, but they won't open, i've enabled everything and scanned the FAQs and its still not working

iBooks, if that's what you mean, can only be viewed on an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. You can't view them on your computer. If you are trying to view them on an iOS device, post back with details and perhaps someone can help you get things working.
    Regards.

  • New iPad PDF won't open in iBooks from Safari

I found the PDF in the Federal Regester I needed in Safari it offered me the option to open in iBooks, iBooks opens but the PDF is not there. I've done a search to make sure I didn't miss it. This is the first time I've ever had a issue with this process. Any ideas?

Can you share a direct link to the PDF or steps on how to view the PDF starting at <https://www.federalregister.gov/>?

  • Epub borrowed library book is not opening in ibooks?

My epub ebook, which I borrowed from my public library, will not open in ibooks since upgrading to Maverick.  Not only did I have to upgrade my iTunes, because when I upgraded my iphone, it was no longer syncing with the original version of iTunes... But now that I have the newer version of iTunes 11.1...I'm having problems synching my ebooks.
Also, since upgrading my Mac with a Maverick, I can no longer attach photos to emails or FaceBook, without first dragging pics from iphotos into my desktop...then attaching them from the desktop....

Does your library say that its ebooks can be read by iBooks?  Normally they tell you exactly what app you need, and usually this is something else, like Adobe Digital Editions.
To ask questions about Mavericks other than iBooks, you need to go to
