My bookmarks and tabs disappeared. Tried to import them from bookmark list, now they are completely gone.

My issue began after I had a "Blue Screen of Death" on my laptop. Since then, all of my internet settings aren't correct and Firefox does not load for several minutes (longest was 30 min). All of my bookmarks and tabs were gone when I finally got Firefox to open. I just tried to (Ctrl + Shift + B), all my bookmarks were there, however when I tried to import them, nothing happened and they've disappeared.
Prior to Ctrl+Shift+B I had reloaded a previous version of Firefox. Yesterday I loaded the current version...still no help to my bookmarks/settings.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

IIf you previously had items backing up to the iCloud, changing to the new phone will take a while depending on how much data and apps your restoring to the new phone. If your like me with 1,000's of pics and videos, it's gonna take a while. Make sure your phone I plugged in, your on wifi and let it do its things. If you see all your apps updating, then it's doing something. If this is not your issue, then it could be the phone froze up. I have the 6 plus and recently switched from the 5, and it took a long time to restore from the cloud. Restoring from iTunes is quicker I guess, but I didn't have that option at the time and was dying to use the new phone I eaitrd 2 weeks for. Anyways, good luck and I hope I answered something for you.

I have tried everything on the forum to restore my bookmarks...they are just gone. None of the backups work and I simply can not use Firefox if I have to worry about this. Unbelievable.

One day, having done nothing different and....all of them are gone, poof! ...and no, none of the damn suggestions have worked. All of the bookmark files must be corrupted or something. Would have been nice to know that this was a possibility...so no I made no manual backups...If this can not be resolved, it's bye bye Firefox. COMPLETE DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a strong supporter of Firefox until this happened. None of the fixes have worked...and besides why should I have to waste my time trying to fix it in the first place. I lost a lot of time and information with this situation and Firefox provides no support for itself that I can see. No...I've switched to Google Chrome and Firefox will have a serious uphill climb getting me back or preventing me from warning others off their product. FIREFOX HAS COST ME SEVERAL HOURS...NO...DAYS REPAIRING THIS DAMAGE. I won't be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god we still have the freedom to chose in this country...at least for now.
P.S. I hope Firefox goes the way of Netscape. I was once a supporter of their product too...but they blew it bad...

Why can I not rotate and re-save iPhone photos once I import them to my PC? They are not being saved into a Read-Only folder. And why can't I open them or save them when I email them to myself?

When I import them to my PC, it won't let me rotate them and re-save them. It says that there is a problem with the file's properties or they may be in a read-only folder. The latter is not the case.
I have tried opening them in several programmes but Windows Photo Viewer is default
Also when I email them to myself I can't open them or save them down to my computer.
Is there a setting on my iPhone that I should change that is impacting on the photo's file properties? This has only just started happening.

You shoud be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

Can I recover deleted photos from my iPhone 4S? I failed to press import on my mac before deleting from phone. Now they are lost!

I am new to owning a Mac. When I plugged in my iphone to transfer over my photos I failed to press the import button (didnt clue in I had to do this because I saw all the photos on the screen). In the mean time my husband deleted all the photos from the phone. Now we have lost them on the phone and after the fact I could not import them anymore. Website images in New Tab page are gone (except for one). I followed the Help directions to restore them. Nothing happened. They are still gone.

All but one of the images on the 'new tab' page are gone. I followed the FFox Help directions exactly & repeatedly. Nothing happened. The images are still gone. Restarting the computer did not help either.

The thumbnails on the about:newtab page are generated from the cache, so if the page is not in the cache or otherwise can't or won't (secure pages) be rendered as a PNG image then you will get an empty box.
*Do not use Clear Recent History to clear data like the cache and the history when you close Firefox
If there is no history then you get an about:newtab page with empty boxes (no URLs).

Opened my email yesterday and inbox no longer has emails from 2/14 to 9/15. They are completely gone.

My inbox has some emails that go back a couple of years. Anything important I try to put in folders. Otherwise, I read or delete them when I get around to it. Just discovered that all of my inbox emails from the middle of February to the middle of September are gone. Someone suggested that they might somehow have been put in a folder together, but I have looked and there is nothing. It appears that my folders, including sent folder, do have emails going through this entire time. Any ideas what happened?

I find it hilarious that Google, with some of the best minds in IT, decided to implement Microsoft Exchange servers on their e-mail service to add push functionality. I guess it might be a testament to MS Exchange, but then again, I'd also figure it wouldn't have this level of problems. You'd think their engineers would be able to figure out how to implement push functionality in general, possibly without Microsoft Exchange, but whatever, I guess.
If anything I'm just mad that I decided not to renew my MobileMe subscription, which worked flawlessly for me when it came to push e-mail services. Figured if Google was offering it up for free, and when I finally got it playing nicely with my iPhone back in September, I figured why pay $99/year for a service with other features I'm not really utilizing?
I've mad a couple of posts on Google's group for Gmail, and it appears others are having issues as well, some having them as far back as right after New Years, and I think one guy said he was having an issue with it on a Windows Mobile phone, indicating to me that it's not just an iPhone problem.

I have iCloud set up to sync both my iPhone and iPad. Today, my notes were not synching at all, in the past they have perfectly, so I flipped the Notes switch under iCloud settings off and back on to 'refresh' it, now all of my notes are gone. Is there a way to restore them?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup. 
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties. 
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File" 
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links. 
A JSON backup starts with: <nowiki>{"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":</nowiki> 
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>

Yes, I did search before but restricted it to the past month, because I had the feeling that it’s worse now since the update to 5.1.10, but I may be wrong.

“Top Sites” is hot, but I’ve never used that funny dots without any mouse-over text.
After deleting (before starting Safari) it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
- are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
- are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.
After playing with deleting TopSites.plist, without surfing, suddenly I have ”121 cookies or other data” at Safari’s Privacy tab, nearly all are listed as “Cache” or “Cache, Cookies” but the Web Inspector doesn’t show any of them, only my google.co.uk items.

I just bought a brand new Cannon GL2 camcorder and I am trying to import...

I just bought a brand new Cannon GL2 camcorder and I am trying to import some video footage into Final Cut Pro version 5.01. Whenever I put up the Log and Capture screen and turn my camcorder on the computer starts to think(the spinning color wheel) and not let me do anything else not even press play unless I completely turn the camcorder off again which defeats the whole purpose of me even importing footage. I don't understand why the Log and Capture screen won't let me import any video my old Sony Digital Hi8 was importing just fine a day ago, but now that I bumped up to the GL2 for some reason the Log and Capture screen isn't doing it's job so well by the computer starting to think(the spinning color wheel) instead of working. I have used the Cannon GL1 in the past and it worked like a charm. So I don't understand why the GL2 wouldn't be any easier? It is just giving me this problem and I don't know wether it's the firewire bus or what? Can someone please help me with my dilemma?

Ha...ha..very funny...but ah yeah from reading other posts on the "Canon" GL2 I figured out that you can't have multiple devices plugged into the firewire bus at the same time while you're importing video into Final Cut Pro. That's a HUGE bummer...thanks guys for your help you where fast and reliant. But now I have another problem my internal hard drive only has 4 GB out of 75 GB and my applications take up at least 40 GB of space. How am I going to connect my 600 GB external hard drive to the computer and import footage at the same time? Can you guys help me with this now?

If you are having the same problem, i.e. a disk permission problem, open your favorite search engine and search on, "change disk permissions", and I think you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem. This is a Lightroom forum. Your problem is with your operating system. There is no sense in rewriting instructions that are already available if you do a simple search.

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi.
