My Bose SoundLink stopped connecting to my Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.2

Hi, I know this is probably to a other threads but nothing read seemed to help.
I have a Bose SoundLink and it worked just fine with my Macbook Pro for about the first 4 months. Around December it stopped connecting. I can see the device on my Mac, the Soundlink just want connect. I have no problems connecting with my iPhone.
So far I've deleted and re-paired the soundlink a couple times as well as messed with the bluetooth settings (but restored them). I don't think it is the bitrate problem others are having because it won't connect at all. Could it have something to do with the newest version of Mountain Lion?
Thanks in advance.

So... as per your suggestion I got  a solution from the friendly folks at Bose. I did a system reset (as described below) and problem solved! Here is the email with a couple things to try that may be helpful to others:
Thank you for your inquiry.
If you are unable to pair your Bluetooth enabled device to the SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker, there are several issues that could be contributing to this.
First, be sure the source’s Bluetooth function is on. Many Bluetooth enabled devices have an option where the Bluetooth feature can be turned on or off. Be sure this option is set to on.
If this does not help, a system reset may restore the connection. To do this, press and hold the Mute button for ten seconds. The LED lights on the SoundLink will flash briefly. Press the Power button to turn the system back on.
If this does not help, and the SoundLink speaker has been previously paired to the Bluetooth enabled device, it should automatically reconnect when its Bluetooth function is turned on. If the SoundLink Speaker does not automatically reconnect, manually select the Bose system within the Bluetooth device list on the device (cell phone, computer, etc.).
If the Bluetooth enabled device has not been paired to the SoundLink, follow these steps to connect the two devices:
Put the SoundLink Mobile Speaker into discoverable mode. To do this, with the SoundLink speaker turned on, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the speaker for five seconds. The Bluetooth indicator will slowly fade on and off approximately once a second. The SoundLink speaker will remain in discoverable mode for twenty minutes, or until a Bluetooth connection is completed.
To pair a Bluetooth enabled computer, the computer (or attached Bluetooth dongle) must support the A2DP or Bluetooth Stereo Profile. Refer to the computer’s owners guide for more information. If the computer or dongle meets this specification, follow these steps:
1. Refer to the computer or dongle owners guide to determine how to set it into discoverable mode.
2. Wait for Bose SoundLink Mobile Speaker to appear as an available device, then select it.
3. Enter the numbers 0000 when your computer requests any of the following:
-          Passcode
-          Passkey
-          PIN code
4. Select ‘Yes” to confirm this connection, as needed (if your computer requires it). The computer should display Connecting” with the Bluetooth icon. When the connection is made, the Bluetooth icon on the SoundLink speaker will stop flashing.
5. If the audio output device on the computer does not default to the Bluetooth Adapter automatically, select the computer’s audio output device in your computer’s audio settings menu.
We also recommend that the software be updated to the latest version if this has not already been done. Please click on the following link to update the software to the current version:

Both my Macbook Pro OSX 10.6  and my HP Envy 100 D410a is connected to my wireless nextwork. Everything was working fine until recently, my macbook does not connect, - keeps saying the printer is offline when it clearly is on and connected. I have tried to reinstall all printer software and drivers from CD and the HP site, it fails when the laptop tries to connect to the printer.
Any advice / help would be appreciated.

Sure.. a reset will surely do it.. a removal of the offending name will also do it.
Can I delete all networks by resetting the router back to factory settings?
    Sure can.
I also have this UPDATE "A newer version 5.6.1 of airport utility is available"  it KEEPS opening when I open my Airport Utility APP, but when I click on it to UPDATE nothing happens, ever. Im already running 7.6.3
    Bit of confusion here.
Latest version of the airport utility for snow leopard is indeed 5.6.1
Open the airport utility, about .. and check what version you are running.
The very latest airport utility is 6.3 and only can be installed on Lion or Mountain Lion computers.
The firmware latest version is 7.6.3
which makes it all a bit confusing.

  • More DIsplay Problems on HPx2301 Monitor when connected to my MacBook Pro - OSX Snow Leopard

    1) HP x2301 monitor
    2) OSX 10.6.8 AND OSX 10,7
    3) On-Screen Message "Monitor Going to Sleep"
I previously reported that the problems with my new monitor had been fixed with a change in DVI cable.
Unfortunately the fix lasted for one day.  I powered off both the monitor and macbook, came back the next day and the monitor no longer detects the power book.  Same is the case with an iMac and an old mac-mini.  My external older Viewsonic (connected also via the same DVI cable) has no problems.
When the monitor is connected to the macbook, the macbook detects it and acts like it has dual screens - the System Preferences>Display app shows both monitors (and allows me to change resolution of the HP.  Dispite this, the Monitor cannot detect a signal from the Mac.
Looks like a defective Monitor - will be contacting HP in the morning.
Also of note is that the included Documentation describes 6 control buttons on the base of the unit, including an Auto Adjust button for the user to " Press to activate the auto adjustment feature to optimize the screen image."  Unfortunately, there are only 5 control buttons - there is no Auto Adjust button.
The documentation makes no mention of OSX, although it appears that drivers for the monitor have been included in the OSX distributions.

I'm back up - now using HP to mirror laptop screen.  Got replacement DVI cable from HP, plugged it in an Monitor is working (again).  So I have 3 seemingly identical cables - 2 supplied by HP, and one an older one I used with a Viewsonic DVI monitor.
    1) The cable that shipped  with the Monitor never worked,
    2) The older cable worked for one day with the HP,  then stopped working on the HP monitor, but worked with the older VIewsonic monitor,
    3) The replacement cable from HP that is working currently.
I believe they are all DVI-i - pins appear to be identical on all three.
So I don't think its a settings or cable type issue.  I suspect that the HP may have some circuitry that makes it very persnickity when it comes to signal detection - so perhaps there's some small variation is signal quality btween cables - not sure how to check that though.
We shall see if the cable 3 works for extended period.

  • IPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) connects to my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9) and immediately disconnects. Visited a Genius bar (Perth) and after they found their phones behaved the same way way they told me this was a feature of iOS 7.0.4 not a software problem. Comments!

Has anyone else had a similar problem or heard about this new feature (ie bluetooth not working between Apple devises)?

I have an iPhone4 with iOS 7.0.4 and a new MBPro with OSX 10.9.
They see each other in BT and when I click the Pair button on the MBP it presents the code and the iPhone says I should see that code, so i click the Pair button on the iPhone.
The MBP changes to "Not connected" and the iPhone pops up "Device is not supported". Really.
I also have a few BT devices that worked perfectly for years with a 4 year old MB and a 3 y.o. MBPro - mainly I frequently use a serial-BT device for work. With 10.9 it is discovered, and I have to try connecting and have it fail before it allows me to enter the code; it connects then disconnects. 10.8.5 had more control over the pairing process and now nothing; one step forward and two steps back - nice job Apple.

  • My iMessage and Facetime have totally stopped working on my macbook pro - im still connected to wifi and my internet is working fine...what happened???

Help! My Facetime and iMessage just totally stopped working on my MacBook Pro - my wifi is still connected and all other apps/internet are working fine.  What happened??

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • Can't connect my 2009 macbook pro to new 2011 LG TV

I just got a new LG LED LCD TV and I'm trying to connect my 2009 macbook pro to it. I bought a Belkin Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter at the Apple Store. I also bought the Apple HDMI to HDMI 1.8m cable to connect the computer to the TV. I set up the video fine by using System Preferences-Display. Unfortunately, the sound does not work though. I bought a Dynex stereo mini to RCA "Y" cable to connect my computer's head phone jack to the Audio In RGB/DVI port on my TV. The problem is that I can only get sound to work when I set the input on my TV to AV1. I can only get the video to work when I have the input set to HDMI/DVI. I need to be able to get them to work simultaneously. Can anyone offer me some advice?

Unfortunately, you won't find your TV audio in the System Pref > Sound section. Macbook pro's, before 2010, don't have the ability to send and audio signal through the mini display port. They can only send video. Apple added the new hardware for audio in the 2010 models. You have to use a seperate audio cable from your MBP earphone jack and plug it into your TV. This can be a problem sometimes too. Depending on your TV. I ran an HDMI cable to my TV and I plug my MBP earphone jack into my portable Bose player. That works pretty good.
I think you need to go into System Preferences>Sound, and make sure the output is through the Headphone Port.

-I removed the Wi-fi network adapter, rebooted, activated, no luck.
-In the mac console logs, all I see are "wlEvent: en1 en1 link DOWN" when I try to connect to my secured wireless network (home or my office or even at a neighbors).
    -Wireless diagnostics tell me nothing

-Warranty is expired and no AppleCare
Seems like a bug to me, even though I have tried with a Netgear, Cisco/Linksys, D-Link router and even tried tethering to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5, all same problem, says "Connection failed."
    APPLE FRIENDS HELP ME PLEASE!

Well a password that weak will get cracked in about 6 hours on just about any PC in the area.
Now: LKUY*&T&67NH(*JKÎM<PijriuÎÓyhm8t, that's a real good network password, even a huge botnet would have trouble cracking that. I know because my router was PING flooded by the Flashback botnet and survived.
After OS X is reinstalled over itself to fix it, you might have to do more as it could be a "in user account" issue with a corrupted preference file, bad users permissions or another cause that's not OS X

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3.  When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working.  When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode.  I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug.  REALLY FRUSTRATING. • Using a remote desktop connection with the Macbook pro.

I use the remote desktop connection on the Macbook pro and am unable to exchange info between the mac and the remote connetion windows. For example, if I am writing an email from the remote connection and want to attach a document, photo etc. that I created on the Mac, it just doesn't work. It seems like the Mac and the desktop connection are completely seperated eventhough they are both on the screen in front of me. the systems I use for work are not Apple compatible and will not work on anything other than windows explorer and in my case the remote desk top connection. Any ideas!

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

Ah, sure it actually won't.  I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support.  They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug.  It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane.  While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection.  There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network.  The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place.  At least mine won't.

  • How do I connect my 2013 macbook pro to apple tv

How do I connect my 2013 Retina Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.5) to my new Apple TV?  When I try, I keep getting a "Cannot connect" message.

Welcome to the Apple Community Mary Ann.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

  • How can I connect an old macbook pro...

How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)?  I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all.  I hope someone can help . Thank you.

Im pretty sure you are talking about the M8536 which has an ADC Adapter.
you will have to daisy chain a thunderbolt to DVI adapter with an DVI to ADC Adapter.
    the first adapter:

  • HT3382 Connect from a MacBook Pro's mini display port to a Display Port monitor?

    Hello everyone,
Is it possible to connect from a MacBook Pro's mini display port to a Display Port monitor with resolutions higher than 1920 x 1200? It seems Apple does not supply a mini-DP to DP adapter.
However, just as they do not make a mini-DP to HDMI adapter, but they do recommend a Belkin product for this purpose.
Is there any reason that a mini-DP to DP adapter or cable wouldn't work and support high resolutions?
    Thanks for your feedback!

    Hey tjk,
    Thanks for the response.
Do you have any recommendations for a potential set up? The audio output and Apple DVI are on different sides of my MBP, which is alright, I guess I can get two long cables to handle each. I was hoping to just have my MBP closer to where I use it, with a cord nearby plugged in on one side to the HDTV and resting near where I keep my MBP for when I want to use the HDTV as an external monitor.
With a converter like this, you can run video out of the MBP's DVI port, and miniToslink (optical) audio out of the 3.5mm stereo mini jack to the converter, then it will combine the two and output audio and video through HDMI to the monitor.
    http://www.supermediastore.com/product/u/apogee-dvi-to-hdmi-converter-spdif-opti cal-toslink-coaxial-input-output?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=aff&utm_content=HDMI+A ccessories
Otherwise, depending on the TV's inputs, for video you could run DVI to DVI on the TV, or DVI to HDMI to the TV. For audio you could run 3.5mm stereo mini plug from the MBP to RCA adapter on the TV. Toslink/optical is also an option.
