My boss can't change my metadata

My boss and I shot a wedding together, but our cameras weren't synchronized so the times are different on our images.
I gave him a disk of my jpegs. He imported them into his copy of LR 1.1.
Now, he wants to adjust the capture times of my images, but LR won't let him change my metadata.
Why??
Does the fact that I entered a copyright in my metadata prevent him from making changes to my images?
In a big hurry here!!
Thanks, Russ

by the disk do you mean CD/DVD or external hard drive?
1) can the drive be physically written to by bosses system?
Some forms of DVD/CD don't allow updates.
Sometimes the file system of the drive may be a problem.
i. e. external drive formatted under XP (NTFS).
It can be read by Apple OS X, but it CAN'T be written to because drivers only support reading.
Easy way to test would be to try to create a new directory(Folder)
and a new file on the disk.
If Bosses system can't change stuff
have him copy the images to places where he can modify them.

  • Can I change exif metadata with AIR?

    Hi.
I am autor of a simple application that changes exif information in scanned images. I am looking for a way of re-implementing the application in a more cross platform way than it is today and found AIR interresting.
However, I can not find any API for accessing image metadata in the documentation..
Is altering the exif metadata possible with AIR (without having to implement all the "libexif-like" suff myself?)
    Thanks
    /sverrir

There is nothing built in to AIR - but you may wish to look at
    http://code.google.com/p/as3corelib/
which is an opensource AS3 library which includes some image metadata manipulation routines.
You may also wish to make a feature request here
    http://ideas.adobe.com/air
so that we will consider this addition in a future addition of the AIR runtime.
    Hope that helps.

My boss gave ma a gift card but I can not use it in my country, how can I change country to star using it?

You cannot change your iTunes country unless you are really moving to another country, nor can you change country association for a gift card.  Give it as a gift to a friend who lives in the country of origin for the card.

  • Why can't I add/change NEF metadata in Bridge after CS3 re-install?

After a recent unplanned changeover to Windows 7, during which I had to re-install CS3, I now find that I can't add metadata keywords to NEF images taken and archived before the re-install, nor can I add keywords to image metadata that was originally written before the change. If one image is selected I get an error message saying an error occurred when it tried to write to the keyword list. If I select All images (including some new TIFFs that are edits of older NEFs), I get a message saying some of the metadata can't be changed, and asking do I want to proceed? [I can add keywords to the new TIFFs (post re-install) but not the older NEFs. I can also add keywords to new NEFs, just not the older ones.] How can I "unlock" the metadata?

    Probably one of 2 things.
The images have been relabeled "read only".  Open Windows Explorer and click on properties.
There may also be a permissions issue.  Close Bridge and right click on icon to choose "run as administrator".  See if that solves problem.

  • Spinning ball when iTunes changes SOME metadata for movies -- why and can it be fixed?

I'm putting in the metadata, including the artwork, for movies in iTunes and it's driving me nuts becaue the little rainbow ball comes up and stays up the bigger the file. It's not like iTunes is rewriting the movie, is it? I don't understand why it should take 2 - 3 mintues to change the metadata. Is there a way around this?

Yes it can be moved into music videos by right clicking on the music video, selecting get info and clicking on the video tab on the top of the little window that opened up and open up the video kind menu and select music video out of the list.

  • Can't view LR metadata modifications on Windows Explorer? What gives?

    Hi all,
This is my first question to the community, I searched for the answer to this problem here and elsewhere but not able to find out why, hope you can help.
I'm coming to grips with managing data in LR but I've stumbled upon a snag. I'm using LR 5.7 and adding metadata to CR2 and JPG files and wanted to check whether the metadata modifications showed up on Windows Explorer. It appears as if they don't. My workflow is detailed below, could you point out if I'm missing anything?
What I did was fill some IPTC and EXIF fields on LR 5.7 and click on "save metadata to file". The fields I added data to was headline and description (IPTC), user comment (EXIF) and title and caption fields (Lightroom's own fields I presume).
However the metadata I added does not display on Windows Explorer (upon right click/properties/details). I'm using Windows 7 and MS website says Explorer is able to display IPTC and EXIF fields. This however does not seem to be the case. Did anyone else come across this problem or am I doing sth wrong.
To test it further I modified Title, Subject and Comments fields on Windows Explorer (through file properties/details tab),.I don't know whether these fields are an official part of IPTC or EXIF standards but they don't display on LR either.

My Windows File Explorer (8.1) does show some of the metadata that LR 5.7 writes, but not all.  I no longer have access to Windows 7, but I'm certain that it does too.  LR 5.7 will also read metadata written by Windows Explorer.
    Some general caveats:
    - Be sure to Save Metadata To File in LR, or better, set the option Edit > Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP.
    - When you make changes to metadata outside of LR, be sure to Read Metadata From File to get it back into LR.
    - When you make changes with the Explorer Properties window, make sure you click OK or Apply.
    - Use the free Exiftool if you want to examine metadata authoritatively.  Virtually every other program, including LR, Windows Explorer, and OS X Finder, has significant problems and limitiations with metadata.
I can't explain all that you're seeing.  If you can't figure it out using Exiftool, then I suggest taking a sample pic you've written with LR, upload it to Dropbox or similar, and post the link here; we can take a look.
The LR metadata fields you mentioned map to these industry-standard fields:
    Title > XMP:Title, IPTC:ObjectName
    Caption, Description > EXIF:ImageDescription, XMP:Description, IPTC:Caption-Abstract
    Headline > XMP:Headline, IPTC:Headline
    User Comment > EXIF:UserComment
Windows File Explorer doesn't show Headline, and it has somewhat different mappings for Title.  You can experiment for yourself with Exiftool.

For sideloaded content the nook pulls the metadata from ePub file itself.  I would suggest looking at a program like Sigil or Calibre that will let you edit the metadata in the book to make it appear like you want.
For the PDF vs ePub - No, that's the way PDFs work (think of them as graphics, not text), wheres ePubs are Web Pages - so  no you can't them to behave exactly alike without converting the files.

  • When I edit a song in itunes (i.e change the year) on purchased songs, the next time I return to itunes, the information has reverted back to the original information. How can I change that?

When I edit a song in itunes (i.e change the year) on purchased songs, the next time I return to itunes, the information has reverted back to the original information. How can I change that?
When I purchase ITunes music, and it is a song from a Greatest Hits album, the Year of the song shows the year the CD was released and not the year the song was released (i.e. a song may be from 1986, but the Greatest Hits album was released in 1999, so my songs in ITunes show 1999).    So, I go into each of those songs and change it to the year that I want to be displayed. As long as I don't exit out of ITunes, it will show the year that I changed it to (i.e. the 1986 year in this case). But if I exit out of ITunes and then return to ITunes, the year reverts back to 1999. The same happens if I change the genre of a song from, say 'Pop' to 'Alternative', it will revert back the next time I log in.
Oddly enough, as soon as I right-click on that song to change it back, the year/genre that I had entered returns.
How can I make it so my changes are permanently displayed as I want them?  This is pretty annoying when I try to find a song on my Ipod under a certain genre, but it doesn't appear in that genre because the incorrect information gets synched to the Ipod.

Make sure that these two options in Edit > Preferences > Store are turned off:
Then exit iTunes and open it up again.  Your metadata entries should then be persistent - with these options checked iTunes will be comparing what you have with the information held in the iTunes Store, and will overwrite with the latter for Store purchases (and if you have iTunes Match).  If you have any iOS devices you should also turn off Show All Music under Settings > Music.

  • How can i change the Creation Date of a video (mts-Format)?

I work with Phohoshop Elements 13 an i use Online-Album (Revel)
    My Problem:
I would like to change the Creation Date of a Video-File (mts-Format). I don't no why but the date (in Metadata) is wrong and i would like it to change. If i change it in Photoshop Elements the Date (Edit... Change Date...) it seems that the date has changed, but in reality in the Metadata is still the wrong date (see attachment).
Why this ist important for me:
The Adobe Revel (Online-Album) takes always the date from the metadata which is wrong.
Any idea how i can resolve my Problem?
How i can change the Metadata?

    Hi,
Did you get help ? Or do you have a work around ? I have about 20.000 Pictures and countless videos to organize myself.
I just ran into the same problem. Except that after a while Adobe will undo the changes I have made to the date.
Here's a  screen shot I just made of one of the files.
Look at this one ! This one is really interesting:
After changing the date to : 1889 . Adobe changed it to 01.01.1970 00:59

  • How can i change a xmltype column's xml schema?

    i create a table that have a xmltype column.this column is schema-based.
    my problem is ,
now i want to this column's schema will be redefined to a global schema?
[b]how can i change the column's schema which already have a schema?

When a schema is registered a lot of additonal annotations are added to the XML schema by the schema registration process - Look at the version of the XML schema under /sys/schemas/... in the XML DB repository. This information is unqiue to that version of the XML schema and is used internally to manage instance level metadata.
When instance documents are stored in the DB a set of metadata is generated for each document so that we can make sure that we can maintain DOM Fidelity. This metadata is tied directly to the XML schema the document is associated and is only valid in the context of that XML Schema.
So when the schema is registered locally and instances are stored the generated metadata is only valid in the context of the local schema. If the same schema is now registered globally new values will be generated for the annotations applied to the global version of the XML schema. Consequently the metadata associated with a document belonging to the local version of the XML schema has no meaning when viewed in the context of the global version of the XML schema.
The net effect of this is that you will need to copy the data in order to get documents where the metadata for each document is based on the global version of the XML SChema.

  • Acrobat X Standard User: How can I view PDF metadata from a folder level?

    Hello All,
This is my first post to this community. I would not be surprised if the answer to my question can be found in a simple search or tutorial. However, I assure you that I have been searching, clicking, reading and even attempting to install new software all morning and have only succeeded in further confusing myself.
I'm running Adobe Acrobat X Standard on a Windows 7 machine. My job includes the management of legal documents of conveyance. All conveyance instruments have a set of unique identifiers such as the county where the deed was filed, the book and page where it is filed, the type of instrument, and the date it was filed. Historically I have tried to jam all of this information and more into the file name of a pdf. For example: "105_Bk109-Pg188_Assignment_05251950" is the name of a file that I have open right now that indicates an Assignment filed in Crockett County, Texas (code 105) at Book 109, Page 188 and recorded on May 25, 1950. I typically work in folders that contain around a hundred similar documents with all of the fields I have described varying. My objective is to begin moving this information into the metadata or properties of the individual PDFs AND then be able to view those fields in Windows Explorer from the folder level. As I understand it, this is not possible. When I began searching for an alternative solution, I found several references to Adobe Bridge and attempted to install it. The installation failed, but more importantly I am not interested in becoming a CC user as I don't feel like it is necessary for what I am trying to accomplish. I'm not working with HD photos or video.
So my question is this: Is there a way (that doesn't involve purchasing and learning Adobe Bridge) that I can modify the attributes/metadata/properties of a pdf, and then see the modifications in a folder viewer without opening the pdf? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for responding. I suspected that my understanding of metadata was incomplete or inaccurate. As I understand it, the metadata for any given pdf can be found by first opening the pdf; clicking File -> Properties, which opens a dialog box titled "Document Properties". The first tab in the dialog box is "Description" and includes the fields File, Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords. The values for these fields are what I'm referring to as metadata. Additionally, from the Document Properties dialog box, clicking on the "Custom" tab allows you to create custom properties and values, which I also considered to be metadata. I have manipulated these fields for a certain pdf as shown in the two screenshots below:
After making this changes, I saved the pdf and closed it. I then navigated to the folder where the pdf is stored using Windows Explorer. As you can in the following screen shot of WE, that the pdf I have made the changes to is the first in the list. The Windows Explorer columns include: Title, Pages, Author, and Subjects, but their values are all blank and fail to show what I have assigned them in the PDF properties (or what I thought was metadata). As for my custom fields, Windows does not give me any kind of option to display those. Windows inability to display something as simple as the number of pages in the PDF is completely baffling to me.
My objective is to be able to modify the standard document properties of a PDF with usable information, those being Title , Author, Subject, and Keywords. I would also like to be able to create the custom properties with additional useful information. I would then like to be able to use a file manager, to view the contents of a folder full of pdfs, similar to the screenshot above, and see the properties and custom field values that i have assigned to the pdfs in columns of the list of pdfs. Windows Explorer is the only file manager I have ever used. It's possible that the solution to my problem could be as simple as changing file managers. It may be that what I'm after is not possible at. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
My work is giving an old imac G5 and I can't change the IP address for my home internet because its asking for a password that no one remembers Even my boss is clueless.
I tried going into Keychain Assistant, but it seemed not to help at all.
We can't even take away or add programs.
Is their anyway to manually override this??? It's getting very frustrating. I'm about to take to a mac guy and just have him wipe the harddrive/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
I don't remember what the latest OS is at the moment.

  • What changed with metadata in Acrobat 9?

We use Web crawlers to automatically post PDFs to our Plumtree portal. The crawlers read custom metadata that we add to the PDF and use it to categorize the PDFs.
With all previous iterations of Acrobat, this process has worked fine. Now that I've switched to Acrobat 9, however, the crawlers cannot read any of the metadata, whether it's custom fields or standard fields like Title.
Does anyone know what might have changed regarding metadata with Acrobat 9?

Hello. I am also looking for an answer to this question. I use an older DAM program (Canto Cumulus V5) to file and categorize pdf files. It used to be able to read the metadata from pdf's but since I upgraded to Acrobat version 9 it no longer reads the metadata. Can anyone point Rick and I to the right solution? Thanks.

  • How to change pdf metadata - creation date

I have a number of old documents that have been scanned and converted to pdf's. I would like to change the metadata in each of these to reflect the documents ORIGINAL creation date on paper (not the scan date). Is there any simple tool to do this? (Each document's date is different so I will have to manually change it.)
I can not find a way to do this in OS X, and the tools that I have found like A Better Finder change the creation date in the File Info panel, but if I open it in Adobe Acrobat 8 the metadata remains unchanged.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you. I did find this also on Adobe's website. It is an option, but since I an archiving a number of documents over a 30 year creation period, each of which has a different creation date it seems cumbersome as I would have to create and save a different XML file for each pdf I wanted to update. I was hoping for a more efficient tool that accomplish the task.

    Hi Han,
    here my corrections:
    1.
I would use the filename "mylabels_cn.properties" and not "mylabels_zh_CN.properties"
    2.&3.
This is the SP2 way for using the bundle files for properties. For NetWeaver you need to create a new PAR-file with the bundle file including the labels and translations as described <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/65/6fc63ed4027f6be10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here</a>.
It's very easy if you use the example PAR file provided by SAP in SAP Note 817876, as mentioned in the referenced link (Prerequisites section).
Read carefully the process in the link and try again. If you still experience problems, come back with the new detailed description.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert
