Home screen lock is different than carrier lock.
If the device is locked to a specific carrier for cell service you cannot use a sim from another provider without having the device unlocked. Only the carrier to which the device is locked will be able to unlock the device for service on another provider.

Straight Talk is not a supported carrier. Take the issue up with them.

The warranty is not international and only available in the Country of purchase .If the iPhone is out of warranty Apple or their Agents will also only give service in the country of original purchase.
So if you want Apple help you will have to return it to Singapore or find a 3rd party to repair it if they can in India as long as it is out of warranty and you understand that Apple would never help with that device in future if it has been opened by a 3rd party

If the phone is unlocked then you can use it in India.
If your phone is locked, then the only way to get the phone unlocked is to contact your phone company/carrier. The person that sold you the phone in Saudi should have told you whether it was locked or unlocked. Contact them to check and then contact the carrier to have it unlocked if it is locked.
Other than that there is not a lot that you can do - perhaps it was unwise to purchase a phone in Saudi - it won't have Facetime on it if you got it there.

You don't add media (other than music) to your device by dragging. It's by synching.

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware, which is iOS 6.1.6 for an iPhone 3GS.

A: There is no such thing as an unlocked iPhone 3Gs in the United States. ALL iPhone 3Gs's sold in the US are locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones, therefore it is not legitimately unlocked.
B: Sprint is a CDMA network as others have mentioned. They do NOT use SIM cards. The iPhone 3Gs will NEVER work on Sprint. Ever. It's not physically possible.
Either your Uncle misunderstood or he was mislead. Send it back and tell him to get his money back. Buy an iPhone in India from a supported carrier.

You'll need to sell it to someone in the US, as it can only be used in the US on the AT&T network and is useless to anyone else.
How you go about selling it is up to you. Unless you have friends or colleagues in the US who want an AT&T iPhone your only real option is selling it on some online marketplace such as eBay.
Carriers in India won't exchange a US bought iPhone.

Warranty service on the iPhone is only available in the country of purchase. You will need to send your phone to someone in the US so he/she can bring it in to Apple to look at.
If that's not feasible, you can google to search for a 3rd party iPhone repair shop in your area.

Hi, you're referring to the menu, right? The first thing on the menu list is the music library with a directional arrow to the right. If I select that, I still get the same message. There's nothing there. I think the problem must be where (or how) I'm saving the songs. I'm saving them but not to the right place? The instruction book just says follow the directions on the screen (but they really aren't that clear.)

Got an Iphone 3gs from a friend, unable to use due to previous carrier lock, talked to carrier and they say they have unlocked it, but the Iphone is still locked, what to do?

I got a used Iphone3gs from a friend.
I do not use the same carrier as the one he purchased the Iphone from.
I had him call the Operator and they said they have unlocked it in their system.
However the iPhone remains locked and the carrier (uder settings>about) is still listed as the original Carrier.
the phone as NOT been hacked.
I do not have a "Carrier" option listed in the main settings menu
and therefore have no way to change it manually

Why does Apple need to do anything for you?
Have you attempted any basic troubleshooting like reset, restart, restore?
Have you verified that the issue is your device and not just the service in your area or your SIM card?
Have you restored as new to eliminate the possibility that data on your device is not the problem?
Frankly, your post comes across as some jerk demanding the problem being fixed without any user intervention/assistance. Maybe that is not what you intended, but that is the way it comes across.

If so, save yourself a lot of time and trouble - throw it in the trash.
