My brother gave me his MacBook, cleaned it out beforehand.
I begin to set it up but there's a thing that I cannot change. 1) Account name. I changed the computers name and deleted all other users. Set up mine.
Now, I still see his name appear on the top right hand side. Even if I changed the computers name, the username acct, etc.
What can I do?
Another is, I log into Imessage and see that some of his contacts have merged with mine. He never used Imessage but might've merged his contacts. How can I take those away?

If not... it cannot be used with any other carriers SIM until it is unlocked.

Connect your device and open iTunes.
In the source list (the left-hand column of iTunes), double-click the name of your device.
Type the new name for your device and press Return on the keyboard.

Launch iTunes on your computer, plug the phone in & on the "Summary Pane", select "Restore". This will restore the phone to factory settings with all of your son's stuff gone. You can now use it as an iPod touch. To do this REQUIRES the deactivated sim card be still installed in the phone.

You want to first connect your shuffle to your computer and transfer all of your downloads from there to your iTunes.
Then you want to connect your new one to the computer. Click on the device when it pops up in your iTunes, and select the music tab.
Then you can sync all of the music you want! -

No, because you cannot go back to iOS 6 once you have upgraded the phone to iOS 7. It is not possible to downgrade.
There is nothing that you can do until you get in contact with your brother and get him to remove all his details from iCloud etc and then you will be able to activate it.
You have come up against the activation lock on the phone that is there to prevent theft - contact your brother and get him to remove his details and then you can use the phone, but until then you have a phone that you will not be able to use whatever you do and you cannot go back to iOS 6 - it is just not possible. -

If all she seeks to do is to change the display name, and she’s willing to leave the account name unchanged, then she could do the following: log in as the administrative user and open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner is locked, unlock it. Select the account that shows your brother-in-law’s name on the left-hand side of the window, and then on the right-hand side, change the text in the “Full name” textbox to her preferred display name. If desired, click on the padlock in the lower-left corner to relock it. -

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
Contact syncing is nothing to do with iCloud back up, the only settings you should be concerned with on the device are at settings > iCloud page. -
