You want to first connect your shuffle to your computer and transfer all of your downloads from there to your iTunes.
Then you want to connect your new one to the computer. Click on the device when it pops up in your iTunes, and select the music tab.
Then you can sync all of the music you want!

My friend gave me his old ipod touch and it won't charge
My friend bought a new ipod and gave me his old one. I believe it is a 2nd gen. It does not want to charge. I have tried everyone I know's data cable and charging dock and have not had any luck. Is there any way I could solve this issue without having to send it in or taking it to a service center. I'm just looking for quick fixes that don't require me to spend much money.
Have you tried restoring, and completely turning off your ipod? You may also want to check your settings.

Ive lost my music library on my i pad when i updated it. A lot of that music is still on an old I pod . Can i upload from the ipod to the ipad or computer ?
Thanks in advanceNot directly but you can sync to an iTunes equipped computer and then sync to the iPad...unless you have single-use tunes which cannot be shared.

Just in case that wasn't specific enough....It's an older ipod touch. He gave it to me as a Christmas gift and I want to keep the songs and Apps he already has on it but I want to be able to add more to it which means I would need it on my own itunes account because I can't add anything to it without a password.
I'd suggest restoring it to make sure you start completely clean:

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
Now just synch the iPod. -

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you. -
