For the Browser and Email setup, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
For the # character, are you saying you cannot type that character at any time? Or that you cannot access whatever dialing strings your carrier provides for balances and such?
In any event, if the above does not work for the Browser and Email, then you must contact your mobile service provider to ensure you are subscribed to, from them, an adequate data plan to enable the services you desire. When you do, you can ask them also about the # key problem.

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must contact the previous owner to get permission to use the device. If you cannot contact the previous owner return the device to where you bought it and get a refund. You will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

When you updated your iPhone 4S and iPad3 to iOS6, what exactly do you mean when you can't access the iTunes store? Have you checked your connection to the network?

New iMac email acting strange missing and flashing text

Having a problem with mail,
bought my new iMac and setup mailboxes.
all emaiil from comcast server was downloaded (more thaqn 35,000 mail messages)
when browsing mail I noticed mail body text was not showing in the preview window, but the message showed in the list.
I could see the message if I doubleclicked on it and opened it.
sometimes the mail text and images would be flashing and sometimes missing, other times present.
I called Apple support and went through several steps to try and zero in on the problem.
we reset and reindexed.
we created a copy of the mail folder on the desktop
Created a new mailbox and mail seemed to work OK, until the mail folder was imported into the new mailbox, then I had the same weird problem.
somehow, when I went back to my original mailbox, there were none of the old mail items in the mailbox and they were all missing from the mail server.
All the 35,000 emails were gone. It looks like the setting in the new mailbox must have been set to delete emails from the server (maybe as a default)
after a few weeks, the mailbox continued to accumulate emails and I have not seen that problem again.
It appears that there was some mail buffer in the new iMac that got overloaded or exceeded capacity and couldn't handle the 35,000 emails.
But, I need to recover those deleted emails.
Has anyone found the cause for this erratic behavior whith large mail folders?
I still have that old mail folder
how can I restore it and recover those emails, without erasing what I now have (new emails) from the server?
is there a limit on the number of emails on the iMac? my old Mac dual G5 system didn't have this problem.

You could try importing the mailboxes (File ▹ Import Mailboxes) from the old Mail folder, at the risk of possibly corrupting the database again. There is no fixed limit on the number of messages, and the number you had is not unusual. It's corrupt messages that cause problems.

Email setup application and BIS problems

Good morning, I've a problem with the email setup application on my bold 9700 with wind, when I start the application the icon start the browser and not the application itself so I can not activate the gmail sincronization.
I try to resend service book and reinstall all the firmware but the problem persist.
Do you know how I can fix this problem? I try to contact the Wind customer service but they didn't know why the icon email setup launch the browser and not the application.

My Q10 and email setup

One of the email addresses set up and working properly now is not working. In HUB, there is a yellow triangle abutting the envelope icon associated with that email address. In the NOTIFICATIONS folder, I tap the respective notification and view in red text: Your login information for SMTP server [rim.smtp.mail.yahoo.com] has changed or is incorrect. Please check your account settings." please what do I do?

To sdgardne, JSanders and anyone else above:
Your comments about the SMTP server not being valid / supported are incorrect or off-track.
It also has nothing to do with IT policies or any other corporate stuff... All other mail accounts work fine and my device is not on a corporate network.
These servers are populated automatically when you configure a Yahoo email account using the built-in Settings - Accounts - Add Account - Email, Calendar & Contacts on the device (NOTE: this is different from a downloaded Yahoo! mail app, which is NOT what we are referring to here). The error message and server address mentioned displays whenever this bug occurs.
** A Verizon Level 2 tech confirmed this is a KNOWN ISSUE (she even said she had 2 other people call in today with the same error) ** and they claimed it was resolved "in the October [2013]" update, which I assume meant 10.1.0.4189 (as 10.2 has not been released yet by Verizon in my area); we also confirmed there were no other OS updates by going to settings "Check for updates" and it says "You have the latest software installed". Clearly, this bug has still NOT been fixed.
What happens is every time the Yahoo server hiccups or times out for some unknown amount of time, the phone ERASES your password! So you'll continue to receive the yellow exclamation point with a message above your inbox:
(yellow triangle) "Yahoo! is not responding"
When you tap it, it launches Mail Settings for your Yahoo account, and you get a red message:
"Your login information for SMTP server [rim.smtp.mail.yahoo.com] has changed or is incorrect. Please check your account settings."
until you MANUALLY go in and re-type your password (which it blanks out each time).
As soon as you re-type your password, it accepts it and works fine again...until the next time Yahoo hiccups, then you have to do the same thing and re-type the password all over again...like every 2 days!! MAJOR ANNOYANCE.
I have had the same issue with my BlackBerry Q10 since day 1. I've also had 3 different Q10's replaced due to unrelated hardware issues (and upgraded from 10.1 to 10.2 on multiple Q10's) and had this same BUG with each Blackberry device / fresh OS.
I am on the phone with Blackberry Support (escalated from Verizon Level 2) right now, but don't expect any real resolution until the next OS release, as it's clearly a software bug on Blackberry's end with the Yahoo mail server functionality.
Anyone know if this has been fixed in leaked the 10.2 OS ??? I'm getting ready to install it to try...I can't deal with this anymore! And i will never use that piece of **bleep** known as gmail!

DNS records changes and email setups?

Will changing my clients DNS records to point to the 3 x ns1.worldsecuresystems.com servers effect their email setups? Basically I need to point their domain to the BC web site but we do not want to effect/change ANY email setting/address etc. Could some please let me know what we need to to the DNS records to achieve this?

You just need to change a record at the domain registra to one of the following, depending on which Data Centre your site is on:
United States data center - 54.236.190.114 or 54.236.189.64 or 54.236.189.61
European Union data center - 54.246.209.120 or 54.246.209.119 or 54.246.209.93
Australia data center - 54.252.148.183 or 54.252.148.191 or 54.252.148.134

Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

Email Setup Option Missing

I am in UK.
I am the proud owner of an iphone, sorry I don't want the knives thrown. I have bought my daugter ( refering to as me for the rest of the topic) the BB Curve 8900 at her request against my better judgement, without any disrespect to Blackberry users, each to their own. I am use to things working out of the box or just a simple restore to factory and away you go. There seems to be very little about how to maniplulate the Blackberry to the Users requirements. Considering I own it! I should be able to do with it as I please. I am very computer litterate so what you throw at me in solutions, dont worry about the lingo. That's it my rant and rave due to frustration is over, any assistance would be greatfully apreciated.
My BB Curve 8900 badged as T-Mobile and unlocked. Not sure on software but when I checked on line is was up to date.
Bought brand new from a work colleague so no problems there.
I am on vodafone with data plan. The internet on my BB works fine and I can browse no problems. I have phoned Vodafone customer services and got a feeling that 'ar*e and elbow come to mind'. They said can you get the internet, I said yes, they said so what's the problem!
On the setup email, I only have an option to join an exchange type server. My friend has the exact phone but bought on contract from Vodafone, she has 'mobile email setup' . I have looked through the internet and found the 'setup email help', as I have said I don't get any option other than joining a VPN type email.
So please help me. what can I do, wipe it clean, re-install the software, my last hope would be to go to our local Vodafone shop and I get a feeling the my previous comment would come back in to play.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
Further, since this is a second hand device, you should read this and ensure that the prior owner fully conducted all steps in the Seller section...if not, then your carrier will never be able to register a BIS account to the BB.

HT5622 Downloaded the new Itunes and now files are missing and will not let me download anything or play my music.

Running Vista operating system. During updates to my system, Itunes cannot open due to files missing and will not let me re-download it or open/save it. Cannot play my music or open Itunes at all.

On the new computer launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar (top of your screen) click Store > Authorize This Computer
Now try syncing your iPod.
